Mindwarp (aka Brain Slasher)

Set in a post-apocalyptic world, Judy is one of the Dreamers,
people who spend their lives plugged into machines that give them the freedom to do anything -- but nothing of it is real.
She's tired and craving something real, which gets her butt exiled into the barren wasteland that is the Outworld.

This, together with Bruce Campbell, Angus Scrimm, the grotesque, man-eating Crawlers, some blood & guts and
some cool costumes made for a greatly entertaining movie.

...Which, of course, wasn't without flaws.
Marta Martin (credited as Marta Alicia) was absolutely horrible as Judy.
Sure, most of her role consisted of screaming, but that only means she should have put more effort into the other scenes.
The plot twist ending might not please everybody, but I did find it fitting for a movie like this.

I was afraid it'd be more like The Matrix (which, by the way, might have been inspired by this movie), but I'm glad it wasn't.
Didn't really care for 'em and seriously, how would Campbell have fit in a movie like that?

Anyway, if cheaply made sci-fi / horror is your deal, you should watch this flick.

The Experiment

I was expecting this movie to be great; it had alot of potiential. Forest Whitaker and Adrien Brody were in it. But I now realize that Adrien Brody sucks. It's kind of sad for to learn that because for a little while, after I saw The Pianist, I thougt he was te greatest thing under the sun. Boy, have my thoughts changed. I'll just skip all the little bullshits and go to the main point: It must be the weakest film I've seen this month. I can't explain it without giving away the ending, but if you ever feel like seeing a bad movie, go with this and laugh.

Re-watched Stepfather and Bubba Ho-Tep, the latter was still very silly and moving. surprised

Aaaand I watched:

Sundown: The Vampire In Retreat

A surprisingly cute and family friendly vampire movie with a western twist.
Bruce Campbell (surprise!) was awesome as a socially awkward vampire hunter, despite his surprisingly low screen time.
It's nice to see him handle smaller parts, even though he's the main reason I watched the movie.
Not as silly as expected, but it didn't take itself too seriously, either.

Shock Waves

It's a bit different from the majority of zombie flicks.
Sorta lacking in action and really lacking in blood & guts,
but I guess that's understandable, considering the kind of undead they had -- silent, smart Nazi super-soldiers gone wrong.

The Quiet

This movie surprised me.
It's not my new favorite or anything, but it was better than I expected.
I don't really know what to say about it, since I'd rather not give away any important plot points...
But if you like thrillers and Beethoven, this movie might be right up your alley! biggrin

Youth-in-revolt

It had some funny parts. Cute. It's something nice to watch. I'm not sure if I'd buy the DVD, but worth watching, perhaps at least once.

Rewatched The Hills Have Eyes and Candyman.
Candyman was even better than I remembered.
Also, Ted Raimi didn't die in his cameo. surprised

And I watched:

Love and Other Disasters

Honestly, I only watched it because it was on and my wife wanted to watch it.
But, it turned out to be a fairly entertaining romantic comedy (which is kinda saying a lot).
It also made fun of romcoms, so I guess you could say it didn't take itself too seriously.

Running Scared

Jesus, the goddamn cinematography.
I mean, it made CSI look good.
Still, it proved to be one of the better action movies out there.
The plot was pretty Donald Duck-esque: Guy loses a gun he was supposed to dispose of, someone steals it,
someone else gets their hands on it and so forth.
It was a bit too long, though, and some of the actors were really bad.

The Midnight Meat Train

Well, it certainly looked like a modern horror flick.
Questionable camera work, annoying blue and gray tint and so on.
But all in all, I guess it could have been worse.
Besides, Ted Raimi made one of his famous "I'm here just to die" - cameos.
Not good enough to pay for, but worth checking out if it's on the Telly.

Maniac Cop

Another movie that sorta rode Campbell's b-movie fame.
He doesn't really get the spotlight until the second half of the movie. xp
Ah, well, it was still an enjoyable movie and one that I had been meaning to watch for the longest time.
Had Tom Atkins, too, someone I never mind seeing on-screen... Despite the fact that he's only really known for playing cops.

I haven't had a lot of time for movies lately, but if documentaries count; Children of Leningradsky and Black Tar Heroin: The Dark End of the Street.
Neither of which were what you would call uplifting but they were well done. I find documentaries without a narrator are much more powerful because there is no hint of an opinion or bias, and you are able to draw your own feelings and conclusions from the images you are given.

Repo! The Genetic Opera

I was so excited to see this... and I ended up hating it.

Narration was repeated THREE times. For example -- One, they talk about a persons death. Two, they sing about a person's death. Three, they show a comic explaining a persons death, just incase the idiots haven't picked-up on anything.

And I hated the way this movie was shot. Everthing was fuzzy and kind of blury, and I had my glasses on. Something about that pissed the hell out of me.

I felt like I barely knew anything about anyone. Except Shilo unfortunately. And the song "Seventeen" was unbareable.

Hobo With A Shotgun:

What.....?

I have no idea what I just watched, nor do I know if I really liked it. But I do know it was way better than Machete. All the gore and strange one-liners made it completely worth watching, even though it was very much unrealistic. Acting was funny, but Rutger Hauer made up for all that.

1408:

It's not the first time I see it, I had watched it in the movies before in the theaters.
mystic80 on IMDB
Based on the short Stephen King horror story of the same name, 1408 is about supernatural writer Mike Enslin, an author of two successful books on supernatural phenomena. As research for his latest book, Enslin is determined to check out the notorious room 1408 in a New York City hotel by personally staying as a guest in the fabled room. He believes that 1408 is just a myth perpetuated by stories and rumors that Enslin has collected for his past works. However, hotel manager Mr. Olin has strong objections to Enslin's stay and only warns him of possible danger to come. Enslin is determined to go anyway. But what Mike Enslin is about to experience is no myth, as 1408 truly is a room where the guests don't check out by noon.

Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer
I'd give it a 3/5, it wasn't as good as the first one, and the theme they had going on (Reed and Sue's wedding) annoyed me a bit, it was too much drama for an action movie.
But other than that I enjoyed it.

I Am Number Four

This movie was a toilet trip. The concept seemed good, but the execution was very poor. It's full of cliches and bad acting, and it seemed that nothing major happened throughout the movie. Overall, this was one of the cheesiest movies I have seen so far. Number Four= Number Two.

First of all, I'm sorry for not posting in a while (even though I mostly just post in this thread, haha).
I became a daddy recently, so yeah, I've been kinda busy.

I re-watched Akira.
It was probably my sixth time seeing it, but it just seems to get better every time I watch it.

Can't wait for the white-washed, made-for-idiots creepy child movie (possibly starring Robert Pattinson) the American remake is going to be!
