Fester grinned at the freedom granted. He took this time to force into her memories and into her sanity. Sanity was a wonderful thing to control, in Fester's mind, and he wanted to hear the little fairy's cries of her mind breaking under duress. but he still had the memories going, just for his master.

Luke got to his feet. "Then what are we doing sitting here wasting time? We should start getting ready." he said eagerly.

"I will have my revenge."

Demetri stood from his throne, putting his arms behind his back and pacing slowly down the edge of the block. He'd developed the habit as a way to think. You would imagine that a girl born of a high-class fairy noble would have a primarily fairy influence in her powers. Control of earth would be more logical than fire, a strictly demonic power. However, if you were to be half royal fairy and half royal demon... What would the result be then? The girl that Fester is torturing, right now. The girl that Jethrow underestimated and attempted to control. And now, she will be my greatest weapon for escape.

If everything were as it seemed, life would be a dream.

User Image
Anya frowned suddenly as the memories disappeared from before her. In the back of her mind, she could hear various conversations and recall other events, but now there was something else. A paranoid feeling washed over her, and she wished she could close her eyes, or cross her arms. But she wasn't physically there, she realized, blinking into the black, no white, no black, no....whatever area. It bugged her intensely, not knowing what was what anymore. What is this?! she thought angrily, but she didn't know why she was angry.

There is much to learn in this world. To learn it, you must realize you know nothing.

Jethrow nodded, turning back to the castle and frowning. He walked back to the siblings, putting his hands on their shoulders and taking them off, to reveal that they were now inside the wizard's study. He quickly waved his hand, sending the books he'd worriedly flipped through back to the bookshelf, save one, that he held in his hand. "Unfortunately, since Anya isn't here, I'll have to make the transport potion. This will take our minds and not our bodies to the dimension. This method is less effective, yes, when we are forced to fight and such, and you will be physically weaker than you will be used to, but you will not be able to die in this dimension. Keep that in mind, since Anya is trapped there entirely. While I work on that, I'll need you two to read up on this," he said, waving a few books at them. "These will describe the conditions of prison dimensions, such as what the limitations of power are, and how you can endanger yourself."

Fester metaphorically dug his claws deeper into her mind. He knew Demetri would be angry if she wasn't alive, but the dragon had decided she'd be much more fun as a cute little mindless puppet. He pried deeper and deeper into the fairy-demon's mind, looking for a good place to plant the metaphorical seeds of control.

The siblings nodded and they started reading. Luke took to it right away, reading fast through all the books, his mind gathering data just as quickly.

What was a surprise though was that Lunora took right to the books as well. She was never one to read, just have her brother explain whatever she wanted to know. But she was reading just as fast as he was, or maybe even faster.

"I will have my revenge."

Demetri continued his slow pacing. It would satisfy him to have another obedient servant. Then again, Fester was on better terms than the fairy was sure to be. Family is highly important to her, as made clear by her memories. Once she begins to pity me for being all alone, I can reveal just what my relationship with Jethrow is, she will resent him. With Fester's mind-control, she'll feel the need to switch her loyalty to the innocent victim, and I can hone her powers through training. Finally, when she has built up enough power and enough hatred, she can break Jethrow's prison. This dimension was not built to stand up to the naturally gifted power of another creature; it was built to hold in the learned powers of a wizard. He sighed, and cut off his connections to her memories. They wouldn't be worth much once her mind was under Fester's control.

If everything were as it seemed, life would be a dream.

The darkness was overwhelming, and though Anya tried to squeeze her eyes shut, she couldn't. She was cut off from everything but her mind, watching as different parts of her subconscious flew past. She saw something that looked like a gruesome, inside-out spider and shivered. That was a nightmare she'd had after Jethrow's lesson on psychological torture spells. Is this what this is? Psychological torture? What do they want?! They already dug through every single last memory I have and found nothing! She wanted to cringe away as her mind was torn up around her, things she'd tried to forget, like nightmares and such, ripping past. She almost wanted to beg the dragon to kill her, but she couldn't speak. She could only watch as a chimera burned a city, a horse drag itself from the ruins of a war, and a hooded man stab her family to death in four seconds.

There is much to learn in this world. To learn it, you must realize you know nothing.

Jethrow was satisfied to see them both immediately jump into the reading they would need to do, and he started to peruse his potion ingredients. He had absolutely no idea where anything was, since he himself hadn't really mixed many potions after Anya began to take over. She had organized the supplies into whichever way made sense, and he had to stand there for a few minutes, looking for the ingredients before he began to measure out what he needed. The fire sprung up and a cauldron filled with water moved itself to position, waiting until Jethrow shuffled over, book open and ingredients separated. Easily, he began the ancient potion, careful to follow the directions. His student could improvise and improve such potions, from sheer intuition, but he couldn't risk such experimentation.

Fester fed on her fears and and pain, drinking it in like a drunk would an alcoholic drink. Soon the dragon planted the seeds of paranoia, fear, and his master's mind-control spell into the very depths of her mind. Even where she couldn't find them. The dragon felt content with his job and gave one final deep rip at her mind before leaving her be and returning to his master.

The siblings just read the heavy books, letting Jethrow prepare what he needed to to get them to this new dimension.

Demetri stopped his pacing as Fester reappeared, and he smirked. "So we have an obedient subordinate now, do we?" he said, knowing very well the answer. "Thank you, Fester. You've been a great help to me since I was trapped here by that idiot brother of mine." His smirk twisted bitterly, and he crossed his arms, glaring out across the void space, in the direction of the block Anya still stood on, in the trance she'd been under while Fester had dug into her mind. What information she had blocked from him before would now be open to him, and he would have a useful puppet for his attack. It was almost too perfect, the way this child had stumbled across his trap. He'd figured that one of the two weapons teachers would be the most powerful, but he felt no need to exchange the power he'd gained for greater. Jethrow; you have brought your own demise.

If everything were as it seemed, life would be a dream.

User Image
Anya sunk deeper and deeper into her own fears, feeling suffocated more and more with each moment she was forced to witness the horrific scenes. She felt a wave of paranoia, similar to the previous one, crash into her mind, and she began to doubt all she knew. After all, hadn't Jethrow promised her that her demon powers were sealed off? Had he left the seal undone? If so, why? Was she that hopeless? The darkness of her nightmares began to fade, and she found herself aware again, but blinking around did nothing to diminish her fears. If Jethrow didn't seal the powers, that means one of two things: That he didn't see me as powerful enough to be a threat, and lied to me to make me feel better... Which means I'm utterly useless. That, or he planned all along to turn me into his own weapon... After all... "He's already imprisoned his brother," she muttered under her breath. Her expression darkened; loyalty was the most important thing to her. If Jethrow was so willing to turn on his brother, his own flesh and blood, it was logical that he would use a mere student. I'll bet he doesn't even care I'm trapped here...

There is much to learn in this world. To learn it, you must realize you know nothing.

The potion hissed and spit as Jethrow continued to warily mix ingredients. I became entirely too lazy with Anya around, he thought, hurriedly removing his hand as he almost added the wrong ingredient. Quickly, he replaced the nightshade he held with cattails, carefully re-reading the directions and measuring out the cattails before adding them. The next step was an hour long simmer, and he created a third chair, sagging into it and pulling more books down by magic for Luke and Lunora, satiated by the amount of reading they'd already finished. "Luke, your power is ice, and Lunora, yours is fire, yes? The ice shall be a greater asset. If I'm correct in assuming there are no more accidental prisoners than Anya, there will only be fire-element mages. Ice will be a weakness we can use against them."

Fester hissed pleasedly at his handiwork. He could control the pesky little fairy for his master. She was at his ultimate mercy. Like a marionette, he could play with the strings of her mind, make her say what was commanded, make her do what was commanded. Of course he asked his master if he could test these control threads, purely as a safety measure. Of course he just wanted to play with his new toy.

"I can still be helpful. I can redirect their fire." Lunora said confidently.

"It's true Jethrow. Mages may have learned to control fire, but my sister was born with such an inner fire that it's an explosion compared to their little candle lights."Luke spoke up, patting her sister's back.

Demetri shrugged and waved his hand dismissively towards the dragon, but also in the direction of the girl. He understood that Fester enjoyed playing with the mind and the body as one would a puppet. Admittedly, some days it was entertaining, more so than anything else the companions did in their prison cell. But, the wizard's personal preferences for entertainment followed more along the lines of confusion and causing a person to harm themselves that way, be it physically or emotionally. Either way, he was always satisfied that he had done nothing to be "caught" for. Once I have defeated Jethrow, the "greatest" wizard of our time, I will have no worries of being caught again. After all, I shall be the new judge and jury. The wizard looked briefly towards the pool of silver, suspended in the air a few feet away, before walking towards it. It might be useful to see what his brother and those little demons of his were doing; then again, it might be a waste of time.

Jethrow nodded to the siblings, glad to hear their confidence in themselves and each other. "We'll need all of that fire-power, after all. But that won't be the only power you two will need," he said. His voice became graver than it had before, and he leaned forward slightly, glancing back and forth between the two faces at an even pace, so that it appeared he held both of their eyes as he spoke. "You two have proven that you have loyalty, through your dedication to this rescue mission. However, do you have the ability to forget loyalty?"

Fester grinned some and looked to the little fairy-demon, wondering what to do with her. He floated around her, thinking, thinking, ever thinking.

"We are capable of that as well." Luke said, sighing a little. "Please do not concern yourself with us."

Anya watched warily as the dragon floated around her. She knew that whatever had just happened was all due to this dragon, that and his master. "What?" she asked in a defiantly sarcastic tone, crossing her arms and continuing to watch the creature as it floated past her. "You gonna do some more mind reading?" she demanded, turning her head so she could see him better.

Jethrow sighed as well. "I apologize for asking so many questions; it must seem as though I have no faith in either of you. I assure you, that is not the case; I just cannot accept the guilt of having yet another life, or two, sitting on my shoulders." Sighing again, he turned to the potion, watching it carefully and stirring a few times with a ladle. It wasn't quite the color it should be, but there was still time before it was done.

Fester hissed some, thinking a quick test on the control over her movement would be the perfect way to show her who was in power.

"Don't worry, Jethrow. We will be fine." Luke said, Lunora nodding in agreement.

Anya stood perfectly still as the dragon hissed, but in her mind, the sound reverberated, making her want to run far away. She took a step back, keeping the creature in her eyesight as she watched it move. She was reminded briefly of Searan, and frowned. How could two such similar creatures be so different? While one was sweet and loving, the other was evil and conniving. Not to mention manipulative, she reminded herself. However much she felt sorry for Demetri, she could not for the life of her understand why he'd chosen such for his companion. How could this thing be loyal? It makes no sense...

Jethrow nodded at the two, unable to do much more. Had this been a happier situation, he probably would have smiled and made some remark about how youthful and strong they were, perhaps a joke and some wise words. It was funny how he could predict what he would do here and there. After several centuries, he really did know himself too well. Perhaps it was time for a change. I myself instigated nothing, and therefore this terrible happening was thrust upon us by fate. A cruel game that is, but easily understood. Once the rules are laid bare, all becomes obvious. Looking over, the wizard was satisfied to see that the potion had become the exact color it was supposed to be. After a few more preparations, the three would be ready to leave for another realm. A family reunion after so long, brother.

Fester twirled around her and tightened his golden coils around the fairy-demon tightly. Much like a very thick rope would do, confining her arms to her sides while he slowly squeezed the consciousness out of her small body.

Luke approached Jethrow. "Are we ready to go?"

As the dragon came in closer, Anya started, but she didn't react soon enough. He coiled around her, and though she struggled, she wasn't strong enough. Frowning, she attempted to wriggle downwards, but again wasn't able to move. He tightened and she gasped, finding that she couldn't take a breath, even. The longer she gasped for air, the more black spots appeared in her vision, clouding over it all. "St..." was all she could manage with what little air was left. Her vision had a few bright spots left, and she closed her eyes against it all. She could no longer hold herself up, instead leaning against the coils of the dragon as her consciousness slipped away.

Jethrow sighed and stood, leaning his weight on his staff as he looked Luke in the eye. "I believe we are. You two should gather a small pack of supplies, food if needed, and such like that. It will travel with you into the other realm, as well as any weapons you should have on your person. I, myself, will bring some healing herbs and my staff. We must be as prepared as possible. I'll have maids watching over our bodies while we travel, keeping them hydrated and such." The wizard nodded to the siblings, and as he'd said, began to gather herbal remedies into a small pouch, similar to how Anya carried herbs with her. She'd once said it kept the herbs fresher, and he saw no reason not to believe her. After, he took the cauldron off the fire, stirring the contents one last time before he began to pour the potion into three tumbler glasses. They would all have to take two quick doses before it would take effect, so he left the ladle in the cauldron so they could easily pour another dose.

Fester grinned devilishly as Anya was losing consciousness. Such fear and weakness made him shiver in delight. Oh how he loved playing with his master's new toys.

Luke nodded some and soon had a few packs of food prepared and other such provisions. "Alright Jethrow. Let's go. We're ready." the wolf said, looking to his sister, who nodded as well.
