Sanguina Cruenta Dude, prom is lame. SO lame. I don't even get it. Tattoos are way more awesome. I second this.

They didn't believe me when I said my name; they legitimately thought I was a dude. As if my ample boobage didn't give me away as a woman. I would, apparently, be a great crossdresser. (Also, totally just sent a LinkedIn invite to David Gaider, head writer of the Dragon Age games. GEEKING OUT.)

My prom was pretty boring and very...um...banal maybe? It's just that setting up a dance floor in the golf dome kinda killed any mood there might have been. I now the high school gym isn't much better but at least it has some connection for the attendees.

Afro-Dawg Corabella I'm buying a tattoo instead of a prom dress, and getting the tattoo the night of prom. [sarcasm]Cause I'm just too cool.[/sarcasm] Duuuuuuuude. What of? BoomI asked about it a while ago on here to see what all the symbolism was about.

Homecoming is more my thing, since it's so much more relaxed and fun. For me it wasn't formal enough. It was just children dressing up in mummy's shoes and dresses and aping their betters. Just an ordinary party with bad food and long dresses. Absolutely pointless. I mean, if you're going to do something, do it properly, don't just throw the teenage equivalent of a tea party with your teddy bears and imaginary tea.

I think my problem with the whole affair is actually a combination of these things. It's not casual enough to really let loose and have fun but very few of those attending have the maturity for a truly formal event so it feels stuffy and boring but immature and fake at the same time.

Sanguina Cruenta Just an ordinary party with bad food and long dresses. Long dresses...out of the 150+ people who attended ours there were only three of us wearing long dresses; me, my date, and one of my friends. Also, as a little point of interest, my high school was Catholic and I somehow managed to bring a same-sex date with me...win. 3nodding

Though my school once had a Homecoming Queen who wore pinstripe pants, a button up shirt, and dreadlocks to the dance.

I wore pinstripe pants, button down shirt, black vest, and a fedora and they almost didn't let me into the dance. They also didn't believe me when I told them my name was "Jessica" and showed them my ID. I was wearing make-up and had a s**t ton of hairspray in my hair. It's not like there weren't some traditionally female aspects to me.

Yes I am, but the thing is my date was sent to a councellor earlier that year because she was seen kissing her girlfriend, and I had expected that the higher-ups would have tried to prevent me from bringing her.

Well that's kind of cool, then, I guess. Unless your school just wanted to avoid a legal battle by just allowing her to go.

My date's mum was very pissed off about the whole thing.
