So, now we have the uberpowers cutting loose.
And therin lies the problem, and the edge I see in the story.
There is so much power here, and every waking moment is geared towards control. The only time its allowed to be free is in the most dire of circumstances, and once you're 'retired' to teaching, none at all.
This is the thermonuclear equivalant of a midwesterner at Mardi Gras.
What's really disturbing is how the blend of training and release comes out. In moments, this ceases to be a sparring match. Both sides are trying to inflict as much harm as possible to ensure their own survival. In an instant, the gymnasium becomes a warzone, presumably with people who are friends.
Why? Because this is what they were built to do. Regardless of the controls, showdowns like these are inevitable, because the only answer to power that they know is conflict, survival, dominance.

Tangled Up In Blue Romuel This is the thermonuclear equivalant of a midwesterner at Mardi Gras. I'm going to have to remember that one. eek I always wanted to go... I don't want to explode, and now it's under water. Much sadness all around. Really, though, what do midwesterners do in the south?

Lasreaine eek I always wanted to go... I don't want to explode, and now it's under water. Much sadness all around. Really, though, what do midwesterners do in the south? No, it's more the fact that we just don't belong there. It's a disaster waiting to happen. Putting a midwesterner in the middle of Mardi Gras is like putting a fork in a toaster. There'll just be sparks and a whole lot of pain.

Wow, I just caught up, and this was amazing, Gendou! I liked how you filled in the history with the broadest strokes possible and left a lot of the past motivation open. The interjecting of class experiences with hallway with the teachers also keeps the pace up.
My one ocmplain would be that it was a bit hard to keep track of who was who; it's a large cast of characters, and while some had very clear speech patterns or modes of being, some of them blended together a bit. I'll try to pull out specifics on a second read through. There's also a... lack of vividness... it's almost as if the strokes are broad but they need some color, if that makes any sense.

Eee first comment! heart
Experimenting on Aberrants? Oh, that's sick. Your first scene in this chapter reminds me of...well, any details would be total spoilers, but it reminds me of a scene near the end of Witch Hunter Robin that also totally freaked me out. Only this one had slightly less fire. ('Slightly' being a very relative term. Go Meghan!)
OooOOOOoooh. Jillian thinks Ian is cuuuuute. Will Keej be making an appearance soon? Is this, dare I say it, the setup for a looooove triangle? 4laugh heart
Love it, keep writing, great work, all that jazz. In fact, I think I might be enjoying this story even more than the last one. Hey, if this keeps up, think about how awesome your NEXT story is gonna be. Now that's pretty dang awesome. domokun

Another great chapter, Gendou. I can't wait for the next installment. 3nodding
