"No snakes, no spiders, no reptiles, no amphibians, no overly sized insects. It can fly, but it can't do so all over the house. And said creature has to either be able to live in the house, or in the stables and if t can, it can't eat anything in those two places." Before turning his attention to Zahara, pulling him up and turning both thier back on the children a moment. He had caught that look from her. "Why not?"

Which left a dog or a a draithix. He was alright with that thought, seeing as his parents were doing asking such questions and considering allowing him to have one. His mother had already promised him a horse but he didn't consider that a pet per se. He wanted something like Yinn to play with and sleep with him. Nym probably wouldn't be too happy. He glanced around and whistled. "Nym! Come here for a second, I've got shiny things..."
She shook her head, "I didn't say he couldn't. I just don't want you to tell him he can and get him all excited if I don't agree. That's not fair to me, Sevilin." Undercutting basically. His agreement to let Zykariel have a pet without consulting her would mean that she would be put in the position to accept it no matter what since it wouldn't be fair to the child to take it back when he'd been told he could have one. "I told him we would talk about it later."

Shiny things? Did I hear you right? The ferret crawled out from Sevilin's tunic, sitting on his shoulder a moment and shaking himself out before the furry critter, climbed down the drow, using his braid and plopped to the floor. Duely he skittered over to the child sat up on his hind legs. You said shiny things. Where are they?
"You said we would talk about it later, he assumed it was an automatic no. I'm just affirming that it's not a flat out no. And I didn't say he could, I merely asked what kind of pet he wanted and if he was going to think on a pet, what it couldn't be. That's not telling him yes." A shrug, "what's the harm in talking about it now?"

Zykariel pulled out some shiny stones he'd found out in the Underdark and scattered them on the floor then added a few golden coins to the mix. Play pirate treasure mostly since gold had little value in the Underdark. "We need to talk, Nym." He didn't want the ferret upset if he got a pet of his own. "You belong to Daddy, right? Even though you sleep with me and play with me and stuff. Would you be mad if I got a draithix like Yinn?" Reaching over and petting at Yinn. Nym had snapped at him more than once for those same actions.
"Yes but the direction you were going makes him think it's an automatic yes. I would rather him be upset about a no and then excited when it becomes a yes than plan and get all excited about what he thinks is a yes when it turns out to be a no." And the gods knew she couldn't handle a tantrum today. "Nothing...I thought we agreed he could have a horse when he got older."

A look at her. "A horse isn't really a pet. It's more like a companion animal than anything. He can't carry it around or take it everywhere and it can't sleep in his bed and such." No way was he having a horse in his damned house....track dirt and such everywhere...knock over things.
Shiny things! They were duely gnawed and nibbled on and such, if he could hoard them away somewhere right at the moment, he would of. For now, he settled for gathering them up in a pile and then plopping on them, curling up. A twitch and chitter at Zykariel though. You trying to replace me? Well...it does mean I could be more lazy. Long as you didn't forget about me. Series of chitters to the boy in various tones.
"Nym's not upset. Or something kinda like that." Said because well...he was learning to understand animals, what with the wood elf in him. But his attention turned to Yinn again, the draithix having plopped on his side now, looking for tummy rubs from both boys.

She had to agree that he was right on that front. Faete was her baby but he stayed outside and was there when she went to see him. Although sometimes he was out frolicking about in the Underdark. "Well, I wouldn't be adverse to having a draithix as long as we make sure his claws are covered. And provided that whatever he gets, gets along with Nym. Last thing we need is two animals fighting. And Nym was there first." She snapped her fingers, "And if it bites or scratches the baby, it's gone."
He reached out and pet the top of the ferret's head. "Oh good." His other hand quickly became occupied scratching and rubbing Yinn's tummy. "Do you think your parents would be willing to let me choose a draiithix from your brood out in the yard? There's supposed to be a new batch of hatchlings pretty soon, right?"

"Claws no problem, seeing as Yinn has boots already apparently. And Nym is Nym...you know how he is. I'm sure as long as he had your scraps to eat and me to pay attention to him, he'd be fine. Probably sleep in my tunic all day." And there was that mention of a baby again. Apparently she was family minded again. Which was kind of ironic considering the ordeal she was going through with Piper right now. "Just saying, let him have his options and such."
"Mommy and daddy said that the draithix are my responsibility, so I guess that means that they're mine. I'm just not allowed ot make them all house pets like Yinn." Thinking for a moment. "I think they are. There's eggs I know that much. SO if they're mind I guess I could give you one."

"This is true. and there'd be a new journal entitled 'the dynamics of sibling rivalry in the Dvinnian household' and 'brother dvinn: family dynamics between drow siblings in a non traditional drow enviroment.'"
rubbing her shoulders a bit and hold her tight.
"I don't think they'd smite us just yet. or they'd probably make your second child a little terror just to spite us."

"Goodness, don't say that in front of him when he's around him when he see him next. He'll get so many ideas that next thing you know he'll have our children more than we do. Though your title is off. It would be 'family dynamics between half drow siblings in a non traditional drow enviroment'. Have to be correct now." Though she did sigh into his shirt before nuzzling lightly at him...truthfully she didn't like herself either when she got into these moods. "I'll let you know I'll have no godly influence upon one of my children in such a manner...besides, there's enough terror in both of use to produce one just fine. Look at Malikhai's tantrums." Quiet a moment. "I still don't think we should force Zahara to help...she'd just start resenting things."

She caught that look, "Hypothetical baby but you just never know." Turning back for a moment to watch the boys playing with Yinn, she shrugged. "As long as those things are met, it's fine with me. He needs some more responsibility in a form he doesn't realize is just that. Setting the table, making his bed, and cleaning his room are all chores. A pet would be a chore in a sense but a fun chore for him. I just don't want us to end up the one taking care of said pet."
"Yeah I saw the eggs the other day. I would want a hatchling just like Yinn used to be so I could take care of him from the time he was a baby." He glanced at his parents who were deep in conversation. "If my parents say yes, that would be really neat." He looped an arm over his friend's shoulder and jostled him slightly. "Think we can get our mommy's to stop fighting?"

Sitting on a piece of carne in the ruin of what must have been an elaborate drow compound, on the fringe of Vesandor, Kimmuriel whipped the blood off the face of the small drow girl, who was kneeling before him. Some of the blood that smeared the child's face came from Kimmuriel's own wound, a jaggid cut that cressed the left side of his face (taking out his eye). He had not bothered to tend to it, as it would heal soon enough (in his opinion). Even if the wound was left on its own, he would not die from it. In a hundred years, no one would be the wiser of its existence. To this date, no one knew that his eyes were gouged out by his weapon's master (Jarlaxle) when he was just a small boy. Training in the Empressess house was designed to make war machines as quickly as possible. Life and death situations always weeded out the un-talented lot, leaving the natural born killers to become the core of the Dominian Army. Kimmuriel did not care if Triel kept up that regement of riggorous train with her new empire. He cared little for that place, if at all.
While he was tending to the girl's plight, a soldier or guard, or elite, it mattered not, took it upon himself to investigate the pressence of this drow warrior. Kimmuriel had remained unapproached until this momement for two reasons: 1) He fought well and bravely, 2) He scarred most of the professional warriors. The unweary drow spoke out to Kimmuriel, he said something unimportant or uninteresting to the Prince, so he merely wacked him on the head with the side of a scimitar, knocking the fellow unconsious. After giving the rest of the drow in the area a threatening glance (his eyes could be sworn to have been taken from a purple eyed demon), he returned to his interest in cleaning the girl.
"Are you sure it does not hurt anywhere? Uthegental usually doesn't play nicely, even with young girls." She shoke her head in dissagreement, signifying she was unharmed. Kimmuriel straightened her up and looked about the smoting ruin. "It seems like everyone you knew is now dead." He did not imagine even an elite, if he was truly a heretic, would leave his home and family to rot at the hands of Uthegental. The girl nodded in agreement (her family was gone, no else really mattered to her). "Ok. I guess I will keep you. Loot for my victory over the Death Knight Uthegental." The girl just stared at Kimmuriel. "I will call you 'Mai'. You are now my daughter. That means, you are a Princess. Princess Mai." He smiled, not quite knowing why he was doing this. He always did have a soft spot for children, and seeing them well off (thus, feeding orphans and ressurecting dead infants). "Mai, we are not going to stay here. Lord Uthy will be back in... I don't remember how long. I guess it really depends on where his spawn point is now. For some reason, he can't be destroyed. Reverent magics are not to be used lightly..." Kimmuriel sighed. Hopefully he was not forgetting to tell the locals anything important, like, not to touch the sword.
"You can't have her." An elite said to Kimmuriel (they did not trust him, so they spied). "She is a member of our community."
"I saved her life. It belongs to me." Kimmuriel replied.
The elite narrowed it's elite eyes at Kimmuriel, "No."
"Stop me." He retorted. "I don't recommend it. Look what my weaker brother did to your sweet city, by himself, without any tactics, cunning, or reason. Alone I may be, but stronger than the ruthless and thoughtless Uthegental I am, for I know how to use my brain." Just then, the destraction Kimmuriel required occured. A foolish drow soldier, mage, elite or whoever, picked up the sword of Uthegental, and was possessed of its evil. The weapon was cursed, and that curse had the power to drive ill-intent. The one holding it would find himself unable but to strike at anyone who displeased him (unless, the wielder didn't have a soul). Some common dispute, maybe over food or a women, caused the soldier to strike out at a comrade, who's friends' retorted likewise. The soldier's hands were controlled by the sword (the sword could fight better than the wielder) and he quickly smote those that opposed him. Soon, the elites gathered around him, and took him down easily. "You should destroy that. It corrupts even me with its anguish." Kimmuriel whispered to the air, heard by a few drow who spread the rumor. The prince took this distraction to escape from the city with Mai.
He paused some distance away from the city, to observe his brother's handiwork. It was all coincidence that Uth and Kim were at the city, in the same area, at the same time. Uth, of course, had to kill the heretics. Kimmuriel just liked to be around his own kind (even if he did not like his own kind), and more or less deduced the disturbance to the well defended city before they could even decern it. The attack smelt of Uthy. When the breach was reached by Kimmuriel, shortly after it happened (it wasn't that big of a city), Uthy had already taken down the nearest compound and almost all of its inhabitants. They kept making the mistake that magic and fatal wounds would stop him. Kimmuriel watched until he noticed Mai, alone, in front of the brute that was Uthegental. Without so much as a second thought, the younger drow warrior intervined on her behalf. He could not even begin to understand why, nor did he really care to be honest. Fighting Uthegental was something Kimmuriel did on a centenial anversery (maybe 9 fights in Kimmuriel's entire life, Kim won 4 of them and ran from the others). Kimmuriel knew of the fatal construction flaw in Uthegental (If you hit Uthegental enough times with very powerful magical weapons, the material form will disolve), and was at a great advantage. The fight between the two was not overly long, Uthegental was no novice but he was somewhat slow due to the enormpus strength in his sword arm (he hit the wall, and it opened for him in one blow). Kimmuriel was faster, and able to dodge the fatal wounds, but his exposed face was not so lucky. Several dances would have Uthegental destroyed, and Kimmuriel a bit breathless. Luckily, Uthy can't control his strength. Kimy used that to defeat the beast (when Kimy became able to this, Uthy became unable to beat him).
Thus, Kimmuriel acquired Mai.

"Simply rule. He doesn't take care of it then he losses it. Doesn't get any simplier than that I would say." Shrugging lightly. Oh how he loved it when things were all cut and dry like that. Made for a much much smoother day in his opinion.
"You gotta be careful when they hatch, their scales are still squishy." Petting at Yinnn's furry tail end...which the draithix took to then chewing on. Him and chewing. "Okay then if they say yes, I'll let you have one." But a look to the older elf when he was jostled and he blinked. "How?"

She laughed, it wasn't quite that simple at all. You couldn't just take away a pet like you could toys. She'd learned that pretty quickly with her horses. "Loses it how? We give it away and then when he chooses to be responsible, take it back? Or just take it out of ownership of him and take care of it ourselves, play with him and such until Zykariel is ready to be his caretaker again? I don't want to listen to him cry, Sevilin. I can't handle that..."
Reaching over, he pet at Nym then snatched one of his shiny things and waved it about in the air, enticing the ferret to play. Of course Nym was getting old and sometimes he was just cranky when he did that. Zykariel looked thoughtful for a few moments. "I'm not sure. It would help if we knew what they were fighting about. Any idea?" When he and Malikhai fought they were locked together in a room until they could work it out. "They won't listen to us as ourselves. We gotta be them."

"Take it away, and give it to someone else. It's more of a psychological thing. For instance, we don't really get rid of it, but just keep it at the D'vinn's for a while without his knowledge. If he's smart, he's not going to cry. He's going to sniffle a little, realize that when we say he has to be reponsible that we mean it, and then duely correct himself. He's a smart kid."
Malikhai gave a laugh as Nym took to duely climbing Zykariel's person, trying to get back that wonderful shiny object. "I don't know what they're fighting about...but it was bad if your mommy wanted to not come back. And I had rocks in my head." Petting Yinn again. Though a face as his friend tried to introduce perspective into the mix. "But I don't wanna be a girl."

She still didn't like it very much but it did make sense. Although Malik was not goign to be thrilled if various pets got dropped off at the D'vinn household when Zykariel was slipping in his responsibilities. "I suppose that would work. He'll probably choose a draithix which is easy to hand back to the D'vinn's when he's not doing what he's supposed to. Do you want to tell him?"
Zykariel kept moving it and then tickled the ferret's tummy lightly. "you want it Nym? Okay, here you go." Handing it off to the fuzzy creature before pulling him off his shoulder and dropping him gently into his lap, petting him. "I don't either but if it means our mommy's won't fight anymore then I'm willing to do it. What if mine got serious about not ever coming back? Then I'd never see you again..."
