"Really?" Felicity blinks, unaware that he's thinking of a different Las Vegas. "I've heard it's not a very nice place at times. One of the biggest cities we've got in the territories right now-- it attracts all kinds of people. That's one of the reasons I may not want to stay there for long."
She continues thinking things over for a moment, then blinks and looks over at Luke, suddenly realizing that he might not know what she's talking about. "You know I'm a sharp, right?" She can remember being asked what she did for a living multiple times on her first few visits to the Brink, but Luke may not have been present.

"A card sharp... I cheat at cards." She had forgotten about the hundred-year time gap between them. It felt strange explaining that to someone, particularly admitting it so readily... but there was a hundred-year time gap between them. Felicity saw it as no big deal if he knew.

*grins a little* I mean, you're in the 1800's. They don't have video cameras or security guards or undercover cops. I'm telling you - in 2003, I couldn't shoplift a pack of tic tacs without getting hauled away in a cop car. *Or get into a bar fight apparently.*

Felicity blinks at him for a moment, barely understanding the entire second half of his sentence. She makes a few guesses at the terminology. "I can only assume you mean the law's more powerful in the future."

Felicity shrugs slightly and is about to respond when she notices he's already gone. "Hm... always in the middle of a conversation," she mutters to herself, then turns around to face the rest of the room while deciding what to do now.
She waits a few seconds longer to see if anything is going to happen that's worth staying for, then stands up and walks back to her bag. Time to get back to being on the run... She sighs slightly and goes to the door, then stops and looks up at the ceiling.
"You know you're just complicating things for me," she says, once again addressing the Brink as if it were a higher power. "No good's going to come of this. I can tell it already." Finally, after no response, she unlocks the door and leaves.

**Enter Luke**
*Luke fades in. He's staring out into space and appears wearing a cotton shirt and jeans. He appraises the Brink, nodding. He was really coming back. Just as often as he had at the beginning of the year.*
*Luke stands alone in the Brink, thinking about the Seraphim, Tavin, the key, and everyone who came in there. Before too long, he's uncapped a beer and he starts to practice.*
*He puts the cap on the bar and calls it up to his hand. He holds it in place in the air, between his hands. Then, he sends it out. It's still a small object, nothing impressive. But he is gaining control.*
*Luke pratices sending the cap outward and then calling it back.*

*Maggie flickers in nearby, standing on tiptoe to reach for something. She falls back on her heels as she sees where she is.*
*Turning, she spots Luke in the midst of practicing. Not wanting to interrupt, she waits until he brings the cap back to his hand before greeting him* Good eve te ye there, Luke.

*He almost deflects her question, as he's gotten in the habit of doing, by asking if she learned that from Bard. ... But then decides to answer the lady.*
I'm doin' alright, too. I've been on break from classes. *shrug* So I've been slacking off for a couple months now.

Months? 'Tis quite a break. *Maggie lowers herself into a seat nearby. Judging just by the length of his hair it's been some time since she saw him last* Have ye been away from here as well?
