*Felicity. He'd have to remember that next time.*

*Luke appraises the Brink.* I don't know. I haven't been here for awhile. I just had the summer off from this place. *Again.*

When was the last time you were in here?

"A few months ago, maybe. I'm not sure." She thinks about it for a minute. The last time she was here it was May... or June? Something like that. She shrugs.

"But it's September now, so that's probably a few months." She smiles slightly, shaking her head. "With everything going on in the real world, I almost thought this place had forgotten about me."

*Luke drinks his beer. He's been there before. Hell he was just getting back.* Yeah. I know what that's like, babe.

That's something you have to ask yourself about this place. If it's worth it. There's good people here, and *thinks of Cora, Bard, and Sato* sometimes it's not so bad. But the truth is - every time you stay here ... *shrugs* You're taking a risk.

Felicity sighs, leaning on the table. "That's true... You can probably tell I don't like it here-- that's one of the reasons." She glances at him, smiling slightly at herself, then looks back at the floor.

"But at the moment it seems a lot riskier in the real world." She isn't sure if that's the right way to refer to what's outside the Brink, but it feels accurate enough. "So it doesn't bother me being somewhere else for a while."

I don't know if you've noticed but I'm not exactly in love with this place either. *smirks to her* I know. I hide it well.

*When Felicity tells him that she's facing bigger risks in her own time - he realizes that she's not taking him seriously.* You're right. And it might not bother you for awhile. It might not bother you for a couple months or even a year or two. But you stay here long enough and ... *shakes his head* Trust me. This place gets you.

*He thought about the Seraphim and Melliandra and Tavin.* A lot of dangerous things are happening, and there's just not a foolproof way to protect everyone who comes in here.

"I know. You told me all that the last time we spoke." She manages another smile, walking over and taking a seat nearby at the bar.

"But if there's so much danger even here, what're we supposed to do? Just walk out that door as soon as we arrive, and get back to worrying about something else on the other side?"

She shrugs. "I understand that there's something going on here. It's a dangerous place, you've made that very clear. My usual place is dangerous too... So if I have to choose one or the other, why not the one that seems to want me there?"

*I don't know. Because this place wants to kill you? She was starting to sound like Cora - and Luke had seen what was happening to her.*

*But... He gave her all the information. He couldn't keep her out, so...*

*Luke sighs and shrugs a little, leaning against the bar.* As long as you know everything, that's your call, babe.

*He holds up his beer and nods to the selection behind him.* You want something while I'm back here?
PostPosted: Fri Jan 26, 2007 10:47 am

"Oh, I don't know everything. Just enough for now." Truthfully, she didn't want to be reminded of the fact that apparently she wasn't safe anywhere, regardless of the time or even dimension.

She looks behind him at the bar for a second, considering. "... No, thank you. I'm fine without."

"But I must ask, if you're so worried about the dangers here, why haven't you left yet?"

*Luke waits a tic - then dons a smirk and says.* You know I really like all the free beer. *takes a swig* If I wasn't here, nobody'd drink it.

Felicity shakes her head slightly, though smiling at the joke. "Everyone's got their own reasons, I suppose." She remembers the bag she'd left at the table and glances back to make sure it's still there before turning back to the bar. "Truthfully, I'm not eager to start packing again. Even though there's really not much to pack."

*looks at the bag and asks dryly* You takin' a vacation?
PostPosted: Fri Jan 26, 2007 11:28 am

"Why, no. I am relocating on short notice," she says in a somewhat dry tone as well. "A few people with whom I have something of a history have just arrived in town. They have horrible tempers, so it's in everyone's best interests that I'm gone by morning." She was actually somewhat glad to finally be able to leave Rantoul, even if it wasn't under the best circumstances.

"A couple of friends offered to take me as far as Las Vegas. It's a bigger city, and there's a rail station there so I'll have more options as to where to go next." She trails off slightly at the last part, thinking to herself and considering her options.

*Relocating on short notice. So she pissed off people who held grudges - Luke wonders how all that happened - but doesn't ask.*

*Instead he says.* Vegas. You could just stay there.
PostPosted: Fri Jan 26, 2007 11:44 am

"I could... I don't think I will," she says thoughtfully. "Not for very long.... I don't usually stay in one place longer than a few weeks. Rantoul doesn't happen often; I only stayed this long because I had a job and a contract that went with it. Not to mention a few people willing to defend me from suspicion; that doesn't happen often either."

*Felicity clearly got herself into some s**t, if everywhere she went she had to pick up and leave every few weeks because people were pissed at her. That'd explain why she thought things were riskier in her own life than in the Brink, too.*

*Luke just nods.* Well I don't know what Vegas is like in the 1800's. But in 2003, people fly in from all over just to gamble and party.
