Hi folks, anyone here?

I especially want to say hi to RR. I got the feeling my teasing you offended you. Maybe I was under the impression that you liked that sort of thing.. I was taking a cue from how you were talking to others. For example, the silliness about a smell coming from Dharmagirl... I just popped right in with a similar comment.

Perhaps I was wrong. If so, accept my apologies. Maybe you can explain a little how you work.

I'm good, having a quiet sort of evening.

Just kinda checking in for a bit...

is Tenshisama also KC? I remember you talking about someone who'd been away for awhile coming back soon. Am I mixing people up again as in Ben and Bob? redface

Hehe, sort of. Tenshisama is KC. His original account's name was Koalachan, but that account got banned for "profiting from botted gold" Hence my huge interest in the issue. Under the account of KC, he was the Captain of the guild. Now he got one of his other mules (binky34) promoted to Captain. We still all call him KC, because that's what we're used to. He hasn't been around much because he was getting ready to come home from Iraq and then get married.

The person I was talking a while ago, is someone different. She was a member back when the guild first started but left because she lost interest in Gaia for a while.

Hehe, the guild's only been around for about 6 months, but there's already a lot of history in it. xd

Yeah, KC is the one I remember you mentioning, though I didn't connect Koalachan with KC.

Those bannings are pretty whacked from what I've seen. In AiR, there's at least one person who thinks that the botters specifically targetted Charity and Anti-Inflation groups to get them banned. I don't know if that's true, of course, but all the bannings I've read about are people who were working to help others.

Example, Setanic's account was recently frozen, and the RBG account is frozen. There are alot of people who invested their Gaia gold in RBG, and were earning interest, so there are alot of people who stand to lose if RBG isn't re-opened.

On the other hand, Plexi was unbanned, so some progress is being made.

I still wish they'd go after the pro-inflation guilds and the people who are charging like 500% more for store items in the marketplace. Don't understand why that's not a priority.

Another large group that's being effected are mini-shop owners. Since one of the ways they determine "guilt" is if you receive a large amount of money A) from someone you've never had contact with and B) without giving them an item in return. Both of those "suspicious" activities apply to most popular mini-shop owners.

Do you mean that they don't consider avi art, for example, a legitimate item to trade for gold? Or are mini-shop owners getting donations as well?

Since all they look at is the trade history, it shows large, one sided trading. So if an artist in the mini-shops receives say....90k for a piece of art from a new customer that they've never talked with outside of an order form in their thread, it looks "suspicious" and their accounts are looked at more closely, often times leading to discovering gold they had received that had been botted. Also, apparently you can be banned for what's called "suspicious bank transactions" Apparently this is where the mini-shop owners are really getting hit. Also, I've heard stories of people who were banned for "suspicious bank transactions" because they traded themselves large amounts of gold from old mules that they hadn't used in a while. confused

Wow! It's crazier than I thought. Meanwhile, the really vicious stuff goes on unchecked.

That's what's really got my goat today. I read where some folks were buying little-know items from the Faktori (for example a blue milk jug) and then PMing people and saying -- check this out in the marketplace, I'm offering you a great price. They place a few in the marketplace at ridiculous prices and the poor recipient of the PM looks there and thinks the PM is offering a great deal. So they end up buying it at 500 times what it's really worth. Stinks, don't it?

And then there's this:

Announcement: Posting to disrupt a sale

Believe it or not, you can get warned or even banned for going into the exhange and letting people know that the seller is charging too much!

Good lord! First of all, that's just wrong and mean spirited. However...is this happening in the Exchange or the Marketplace? If its in the Marketplace I don't feel that bad for the victim, since every sale has the Store Price listed. All they have to do is look at the whole thing and they'd easily see they were being cheated. If its in the Exchange, then I have a little more sympathy, since there's nothing right there to tell them the real price of something, although its not that hard to check it out. *sighs* The greed of some people who take advantage of other's ignorance is just terrible. evil
