*Luke smiles* Oh, it is, babe. I don't lie.
*to Maggie* Hey, I believed Cora. Granted, she brought her belt out and showed me how all the devices work.
*Holds up the cell phone to Felicity* You probably wouldn't believe that something could be crafted this way either, unless I showed it to you, right?

"Probably not... but I still don't know you're not lying. For all I know, you made that yourself and just use it to try and impress the folks you meet here." She shrugged. "No offense, of course. It's just hard to believe. In my experience, people lie frequently, and well."

*smirks loudly* Yeah, you caught me. I stay at home... *shows off the cell phone* and spend all my time making these things to pull one over on the new people who come in here.
*throws it back, enjoying himself* How bout you? Why should I believe you're from "The Gold Rush"?

*Maggie listens to their exchange, a little surprised by Felicity's skepticism, though she doesn't comment on it*

"Good point," Felicity says, smirking slightly. "But the last gold rush around here was too long ago. My pa and his brother lost just about everything trying to strike it rich in California, but they made it back east before I was even born."
She realizes she's getting off-topic and shrugs again, smiling at Luke. "But that happened in the fifties. They still talk about it in the future, or is there something going to happen that I should know about?"

*Luke listens to her, then grins.* I dunno, babe. I'd tell you, but you probably wouldn't believe me.
*turns to Maggie* Maggie can tell you about the future though. You visited Bard's time, right?

Aye ... *Maggie nods, looking a bit wistful for a minute* 'Twas ... incredible, truly. Had someone told me of such things before I came te this place, I'm sure I would have thought them quite mad.

Felicity looked at Maggie, somehow finding it easier to believe her. "Well, I guess I have to take your word for it, don't I?" she asked, glancing back at Luke and shaking her head slightly. "I should probably be more open to this sort of thing, seeing that I'm in some place that's apparently nowhere all the time, but it's still hard to believe."

*Luke says to her in a softer, more serious tone.* Yeah, you're telling me. *both to her and to himself* There's a lot about this place that's hard to believe.

*Maggie shifts in her seat at the change in Luke's voice. She glances over to the chair, where the flower chain still rests, and then back down at her sewing*

Felicity nods slightly, frowning a bit at the change in his tone. "Everyone I meet here says that. It makes me think there's too much I don't know about this place-- that some dark side's going to show itself when I least expect it." Maybe it was just her overly cautious side showing through, but Felicity couldn't help thinking there was something 'off' about the Brink at times, from the way people talked about it.

*Luke and Maggie exchange a glance, and Luke is the first to break it. His frown deepens, and though he tries to work it off his face, it doesn't happen. He waits a few seconds, before looking to Felicity and asking very seriously.* Yeah, well, there's a lot of things about this place that don't get talked about. *...Unfortunately.*
You said that you think some "dark side's" gona show itself. Have you met anyone or seen anything in here that's made you think that?

"Well, I haven't seen anything... but just the way you talk about it now. It's obvious this place isn't just some meeting spot for people from different time periods."
She thinks for a moment, remembering something. "A person I talked to did say that someone's been killed here before... By what, I can't remember. But that's troubling just by itself."

*Maggie clutches the fabric in her lap to keep from twisting her hands together* 'Tis ... 'tis true, what you heard ... *her voice is very soft*
There is ... an enemy, here. Te all of us who come here. He ... it ... *she trails off, unsure where to even begin*

*Luke frowns as he watches Maggie. His eyes move to Felicity, he puts a hand on Maggie's arm and steps up.* There's a ... person here who calls himself "The Seraphim". He killed one of the people who came here. She didn't do anything to deserve it. He targetted her, because he wanted to make a point.
*focuses on Felicity* I was joking around with you before, but I need you to listen to what I'm saying. Okay?
*When it appears she's going to listen, Luke says.* When I first came here, I wish someone would have told me about this guy. He doesn't look threatening. He's short ... weighs 110-120 soaking wet. *Luke shows how tall with his hand.* He's about 5'2", 5'3". He's got grey hair and grey eyes, and he looks like anyone should be able to take him in a fight.
But you can't. So far none of us can. So if you see him, don't hang around, okay? Get the hell out of here. *points to the wall* There's a key over there, with your name on it. If you put it in *points* THAT door - you can get out of here and go back to your time.
