Well Malik and Zahara could be happy with her, seeing as she was indeed eating to thier standards. But she wasn't complaining and her stomach certinally wasn't either, seeing as it felt all food deprived of actual food that tasted like something other than card board. Though a pause in her eating to blink at Zykariel. "Your mommy's and daddy's rings?"
Malikhai happily nibbled his cookie. "Mmhmm. They're married now because they got rings like you and daddy do. They're really pretty too." Simple as it ever had been to the children who didn't understand the complexities of love and marriage and such.
Finishing off what was in his mug he made his way to the sink, rinsing out the mug before drying it and setting it back where it belonged...though he had to lean on the counter a moment and close his eyes before anything else. This was a pain that wasn't going to go away, only slightly ebb. She probably had endeavored to connect the two halves of underlying muscles and such...which made for more pain and such. But a sigh and he opened his eyes to look at her. "A little." Thus a gesture out of the kitchen.

He made sure that she was indeed eating it all while he ate his cookies and agreed with Malikhai. "I told Mr. Malik that I wasn't happy and he told me that they needed to get married. Broog made them rings. Mommy's has horses running around it. Daddy's isn't as fancy but I think he likes it that way." He grinned, "You should tell Mommy to show it to you Miss Piper, I think you'd like it too."
Of course he would be. That child was going to cling and question and weigh every word that they said. She also had to tell him that Khaiver was gone and not coming back. On a good side though they would finally find out what it was that Khaiver had enticed the child with. She walked over to him and lifted that poultice off swiping her finger over the bottom of the leather. It came away moist and she nodded and dropped it. "We need to agree on what we're telling him. Is it going to be the...truth?" and then she frowned. "are you sure you can do this, Raven? Maybe it's too soon..."

She goes away and misses all this important life changing stuff. Though at the mention of Malik she didn't know how to feel...she knew he'd been trying to get those two to come to thier senses. So what did he push them again with some kind of ring scheme? Being informed was not a fun thing. "And they just...agreed and put them on?" But yes she was definately going to have to ask Zahara about this.
"Mommy, you're supposed ot be eating, not talking. You can ask questions when you're all done." Aw, now he sounded like Zahara when she was trying to make sure people followed orders.
He let her do her healer thing, checking things out. Oh good, she wasn't going to make him go out in public like that...which was nice. But still it exposed stitches. "Just bandage over it...makes for less questions." Yeah he was beginning to dislike talking...and at a time when it was needed. Well...there was going to be a lot of long discussions in a few days time. "I'm fine...and we'll tell him the mild truth." Turning and walking out of the kitchen, grabbing his pole arm that was propped on the wall on his way out.

"I am well versed in many things. I can cook, and I have been to places some can only dream. the original reason why I can cook was simply to safe face and impress those higher than myself. In Neriak, the city is in a silent civil war. the king and his wife do not coexist well. a marriage entirely of buisness, and both of them wanting to cash in on the other's untimely death. the Lodge of the Dead, the training facility and station in Neriak for all necromancers and Shadowknights, is under the Queen's control. the King, in an effort to embarass her, had my unit ordered to provide food for a personal visitation upon our standing military."
Getting out the pasta and plates and such.
"To gain favor with our queen, and for my own personal chance to annoy the king without fear of any real repercussions, I made it a misson to learn to cook and to make sure my unit could. We suceeded in the endeavor, and shortly after I got a promotion."
A grin at the Rainsongs.
"Selkor Lobster I imagine is quite good. but I doubt yours get as large as ours."
Gesturing to the almost small dog sized lobster fighting the serfs trying to put it in a large pot without losing fingers.
"they are quite agile and fierce as well. thier stony skin color turns a wonderful metallic blue when prepared."
Broog spoke up.
"Zykarel siad dat da master said dat Zaharra and Seevolin lubbed eachooder and Zykariel want dem to have da rings like da master and da mistress did"
giving a nod, before tearing off a big chunk of meat from that leg of lord knows what.

"My, my aren't you the capable one?" He listened to the atmosphere in Neriak and wondered why any elf would want to live in that. Then again, Malik was Tier'Dal and as drow and their cousins often reminded him, he was a surface elf. They did indeed do things differently. He would take his loving wife, family, and happy home over that chaos and upset any day. "It depends on how long they are allowed to grow and where they come from. Many things in Selkor get much bigger than that. The Queen has a lionfish the size of a small house." Lateef chuckled, "She named him Fluffy and his favorite snack is her husband."
Zykariel nodded. "Yup. I gave Daddy his and he put it on right away and then he gave Mommy hers and she got all happy and put it on too. They haven't taken them off since, but Arthur gave Mommy a necklace." A frown at that, he still wasn't pleased with other men giving her jewelry. That was his and Daddy's right....well mostly Daddy's but if he made her something he could give it to her too.
"A bandage would put the cloth right up against that cut but it would cut down on the conspicuousness of it. Let me prepare one." She picked up a piece of cloth and carefully dabbed a glue like substance around the edges before picking up that same bowl and lightly dabbing the paste onto his face. "I know it stings but you have to hold still and bend down a little bit, you're too tall for me to do this standing up." She pushed him into a chair and then fit the bandage over the wound, smoothing it down gently but forcefully. "There you go. Now we can leave." She grabbed her cloak and snapped it around her neck. "Mild truth? Does that mean I did it or someone else?"

"Nothing like pressure to make someone learn a lesson and make it stick only to throw it back in faces. Maybe I shouldn't cook for you anymore Lateef, may spur you to learn." Sure, they lived in the palace and food could be snap of fingers away, but she was a wonderful cook and indulged open, much to the joy of husband and daughter...and yes she was still making plates for Isle...missed her. But a look over to the lobster and that got a chuckle. "Note to self...don't go swimming."
Slightly dull triple colored eyes turned to Broog as he piped in. "Ah so...Zykariel you asked." But still Malik had been feeding the boy information...not that she was mad at her husaband seeing as this was one of his less invasive and violent takes on the matter. But a look back to Zykariel. "Really now...that's interesting..." Setting aside her spoon and lifting her bowl to lips to sip at the juice in the bowl. Wow...she had lots of questions now.
Malikhai had downed what, three cookies, by now. "Zahara was really really happy mommy. And they havent' been fighting as much either!" Which was exciting. Because when they fough, mommy and daddy tended to yell or fight with each other as well and that made him an unhappy little elf.
He let her push him down and go about concealing stitches...could simply be written off as a gash to the face and Zahara didn't want to heal it magically for whatever healer reason she could think up real quick like. "No blame." Brushing his hand across her cheek as he stood back up and lead her from the place, throwing up a runic lock to his door and then took hold of her making a quick translocation...okay no more runes...he felt that icky pull and he gave a sniff. Oh good, it only felt like blood was coming up. But to the fortress with them.

"Swimming is dangerous in these waters indeed. the lobster I have here, these are the babies, the ones closer to the surface. in the deeper areas you can find crayfish and such big enough to snap you in half. Some of the more daring drow hunt them the way a human might hunt deer."
a slight grin, sitting himself down.
"We have a lake on the grounds here that is free of Underdark infestation. Zahara made it during a fight, calling on her new patron diety some time ago. the divine influence shied away the more violent creatures. And I met Fluffy. in fact had Lord Soultide not stayed my hand, I probably would have attempted to kill it. I did make it very sick though, to get it to spit him up. turns out it wasn't really needed."
A small lean forward.
"Piper and I went to Neriak. she got me into some trouble a few times, but we had a rather pleasent stay. Neriak may be in a state of cold civil war, but it's still realtively blood free. the rights of retaliation and vengance see to that. You can't go about killing or seriously injuring someone without risking swift and deadly repercussions if your caught or it gets traced to you. Such as with Kieran. by Neriak laws and customs, I would be allowed a single act of retaliation that can be done without it being held against me. This in turn breeds envies and hatreds, careful plans nad plots within plots, all to arrange for the defeats or deaths of rivals and enemies without being caught or leaving a trail."
"Hate feeds our creator, Innoruuk. the plans and plots sharpen our minds, and the need to be able to act swiftly and decisively makes our bodies and swords strong and swift. from birth to death our lives are entangled in ruthless and deadly competition. which is why we make such dangerous foes, and such interesting allies. And of course this is a perfect breeding ground for assassins. and a drow assassin is among the most deadly elves you can ever hope not to meet. Which is why I had to pay a great deal of platinum pieces to the Neriak assassin guild master when Piper slapped him."
a slight grin there.
"Not to say he didn't deserve it. I myself might have become the Shadowknight master of the Lodge of the Dead had I not been cut down at Kithcor. But then I probably never would have left Neriak...so things worked out for the best. My hunting Cymarron down instead took me to the plane I met Piper in."

"I'm sure Draewen was pleased nonetheless." It served Fluffy right, he was forever eating Draewen and making his life miserable. Thankfully he'd fallen for Caprice who didn't have an annoying pet. Of course he probably wouldn't break up with Caprice over something like that but it would be highly annoying. He frowned slightly though when Malik began talking about death and retaliation and assassins. All of this matched with his dogged behavior early was hard for him to keep quiet about. He focused in on what Malik said about Piper so that he didn't do or say anything stupid.
"Yup. They were fighting all the time and they called each other by their real names. I wanted what Malikhai had and Mr. Malik told me how to get it. His advice costed me five whole pieces of steel."
No blame? She could go with that. It was slightly disconcerting for a moment to be led out of the fortress, clasped around the waist and end up standing in Twilight's front yard. A shake of her head and she followed him into the fortress. "I'll go see Piper then we'll meet back here, find Kariel, and tell him together." Patting his arm, she pulled another vial out and set it in his palm. "Just in case it gets entirely too unbearable." Then heading for the stairs, she knocked lightly on Piper's door. "Piper? Are you in reverie?"

Sure...Depths sounded fun. She supposed if you had been living in it for years on end or were born in it, it didn't seem as frightening and overwhelming as it could than if you weren't from it or used to it. Sounded right to her. But she did listen to Malik with some interest....he was like Lateef. Felt th eneed to explain things so others knew where he was coming from and such. "What, you'd rather pay a man over Piper's actions than eliminate the threat completely? Money usually only stifles one's urges to stay away." After all...it seemed that all of that would be some sort of retaliation call or the likes on Piper or Malik, yet it was a offense paid off...these kinds of things intrigued her.
She shook her head...that child had gotten so far as to start asking for outside help to such a thing? She supposed Malik couldn't get yelled at for that particularly, but still. "And everything is better now?" Which was confusing...Zahara had more than once told her that she would never belong to anyone but herself...it was just confusing. But a look up at the knock on her door, Zahara's voice shortly following afterward. "I'm up Zahara, come on it."
Malikhai got himself up and toddled over to the door, opening it for Zahara and beamed up at her. "We've been taking care of mommy for you! We got her to take her medicine, and eat, and not get up to go anywhere, even the bathroom!" Weren't they good little guards?
He nodded to her, taking the vial and pocketing it, walking off to find Malik. Wasn't hard since he heard him in the kitchen...and heard Rainsongs as well. Oh joy, just what he needed to see, more surface elves nad more Andalians...he wasn't up for such things when in pain. But he merely steeled himself and walked in. Waiting rather patiently and quietly...Malik had that thing about interrupting guests...besides he probably knew what he was going to tell him anyway.

"In this case, it would have been him able to assault Piper. instead, I offered a large sum to him so he would 'forget' about the incident. To be honest, at the time Piper was in all appearance, my personal servant. to be a surface elf in neriak it was easier to pass her off as a slave than an equal. So he would have outright killed her where she stood had I not interfered. and then the only way to keep her cover was to offer money. as in I don't want my prize harmed, and I'll pay you to leave her alone...enough to buy himself a few if he wanted. All said and done, Piper's slap cost me about a hundred and fifty thousand in platinum. or in the currency around here, probably closer to a million and a half in steel."
though a look to Sevilin, and a bit of a narrowing of eyes. he'd been injured, and the look on his face said it was alot more than just some slice or cut. which got the 'sit down' gesture. yes he was going to be answering some questions.
"I imagine you are here to properly inform me our runic defenses are up. but for now, I want to know what happened to your face. Lateef is acting as a sort of legal counsel with my...issues...with Khavier and Mahlari, so I want him to hear what happened as well."
and Lateef got a look too. that one that ment he wanted to know if anything Sevilin was about to say was something to bring up to the brigade master.

any price would have paled in comparison to Piper's life and he was rather pleased that Malik felt the same way. Lateef gave a nod to Sevilin and then glanced at his wife apologetically. "Remember Malik, too much business gets me bludgeoned." Wrapping an arm around Caprice's waist he nuzzled at her for a moment. "Why don't you go relieve Piper of her guards. I assume Zahara is here as well?" Thus taking a seat and folding his hands. "I'm ready when you are."
Oh look Broog was in the room, he got a pat and Malikhai got a grin and a ruffle of his hair and she nodded. "Very good guards. I'll be sure to call you both if I ever have to go do something and I need someone to watch a sick person." She came further into the room and dropped a kiss on the top of her son's head. "Miss me?"
"Mommy!" Hopping up onto his knees on the bed he hugged her and nodded. "Is Daddy here too? Do we get to go home now?!" Ooh he was excited. His gaze caught her ring and he beamed then picked up her hand and pointed to the ring. "See Miss Piper. Isn't it pretty? Got the horses running around and everything."
She blinked at his showing off her ring but said nothing to that. "Daddy is taking care of some business with Malik, little one. Very important business." Which would stop the child from racing off to find his father. She turned her attention to Piper and gave her a sympathetic smile then rested a hand against her forehead. "And how is my patient doing?" She'd save the embarrassing parts for when the children were out of the room. They didn't need that sort of education just yet.

It was like answering to daddy when he had been doing somethign he wasn't supposed to. But he begrudingly took a seat, and crossed his arms over his chest. He never feared Malik reading his mind...for one he didn't have his sword and for two...well Malik had learned time and time again that delving into Sevilin's mind with that thing was more of a headache than a good idea seeing as Sevilin's mind was so warped and misleading. "Mostly. And well...I had a run in that was taken care of. How Zahara wants to deal with injuries is her business." Ow...but good show of not showing it. A look to Lateef then back to Malik. "Khaiver's made his way back to Hell...excuse me, Andal."
Caprice nodded her head. "Or in Andalian terms, Lateef trading his ship for something I did. Quite the sum there....though we both know Lateef would never let his boat go." Giving a chuckle at that behind her hand, though sobering some when Sevilin came into the room. But a smile when he mentioned her habit of thumping Lateef on the head. "Are you trying to get rid of me? Cad...see if you hear another bell anytime soon." Waving a hand dismissively... "Fine I'll leave you men to grunt at each other. I expect food when I come back, remember that." Thusly heading off and back to see Piper. Well look at that, she hd acquired an audience.
Malikhai beamed and then followed her back across the room, except this time took his time to climb Broog, up the ogre's arm and back to rest on the creature's shoulder, giving the ogre a pat on the head like so many others did. "Yay, we got ourselves a new job." A blink to his friend. Aw, he wanted to go home? "You goin' home?"
Piper gave Zahara a smile, setting her soup bowl down on the tray beside her. "Well I could I suppose...not too happy bodily feelings, but I think that's to be expected." Giving another cough before a sigh, resting back against pillows for the moment. Though she blinked as Zykariel went about showing off his mother's ring to her. And a suprised questioning look was given to Zahara over it.

"It will be here."
though he gave a bit of a raised eyebrow to Sevilin.
"That's a rather bad injury considering the careful method of trying to cover it up. exactly what happened to you? and more importantly, was Khavier the cause of this injury? Mahlari was trying to blackmail agasinst my house using crimes that you have done, adn probably under order mostly. it would be nice to be able to hold something over thier head for a change."
though too bad Khavier was gone already. if this was his fault he would have loved to take his hand off for it.

"For you I'd give up ten boats." He glanced at the injury in question and had to admit that that was a rather large bandage. "And if Khaiver did indeed deliver that injury, did you provoke him or do anything to cause him to do so?"
He realized suddenly that he'd upset his friend and he shook his head. "I kinda do adn I kinda don't. I miss my bed and my toys and stuff. But I'll come back to see you all the time and I'll stay here some nights and I think you can come stay at our house too, right Mommy?"
Not really listening to her son she merely murmured, "We'll see." Then back to Piper. "Yes it is." She did a preliminary check and settled Piper more comfortably back against the pillows, though she glanced at hte boys and Caprice who'd joined them in the room. "Hey boys, you know the nursery is free again? Everyone moved out earlier today." That ought to get them racing out. "Caprice! I'm so glad to see you here." She was going to suggest that Caprice join them but she left it up to the other elf. Caprice had been a godsend when Zahara was confused and pregnant. "I'm engaged." Trying to hide that smile all women got when these things came up.

"Careful method of trying to cover it up? It's a bandage over a gash because Zahara is fickle and overly odd about her healing methods since magic is still recovering...rune magic is internal after all, doesn't take as long to fully come back." Shrugging lightly. "Maybe indirectly he was, but that is my business and he's gone away so I could care less right now. Especially if you're looking to use me in any of your things having to deal with any Obsidians back in Andal." Glancing over at Lateef. "They thought I was dead before until Malik opened his mouth...they can think so again."
Oh wait, that was important information. Slipping down off of Broog, he grabbed Zykariel's hand and duley pulled him off the bed. After all they needed to get in as much play time as they could before his friend left. "Come on, we gotta get your toys."
Caprice gave a smile to the boys as they ran past her all giggles and walked over to the two women, minful of Broog still though...made her a little uneasy. "Really now?" Taking the drow's hand and looking over the ring. "It's beautiful. Congradulation's Zahara."
And she was still confused. So very very confused...she hated being out of the loop very very much. "You know, I hate to ask prying questions, but you see...I've just been gone for a while and I'm just so far behind...anyone want to tell me what's going on?" Oh sarcasm.
