Felicity just stares at him for a second, caught off-guard by the entire entrance. She doesn't recognize him, but he seems to be from even earlier in history than she is. Different accent, too. Interesting.
She really isn't sure how to react, but puts on a polite smile, actually somewhat amused.
"Very nice to meet you, Captain Cross. I'm Felicity Lockhart."

*he winks at her then stretches a bit leaning the chair back a bit more before sweeping his feet off the table and leaning forward, causeing the chair to land on its front legs with a loud slam*
So, do ye find your self here often or is this your first time?
*he says leaning on the table eye locked on hers.. his left hand rogueishly.. but blatantly reaching for the playing card on the table*

"Actually, this is my fourth time here... but they've all been in somewhat rapid succession...."
She notices his hand reaching for the card and quickly but casually puts hers on it first, still smiling at him.
"I'm still getting used to it... meeting people.... Trying not to get too confused by everything." She shrugs slightly and leans on the table.
"When're you from, then?"

Where am I from? Oh here, there, a bit o' th'everywhere.... er... oh! you mean when.... right then.... th'year is 1714..... eer... I think its a tuesday... not quite sure 'bou that... havn't seen a calender in a good while..... but rest assured its probably tuesday on someone's calender

"1887-- not sure what month," she says, thinking about it for a moment, "and thank you..."
She picks up the card and puts it in her pocket, glancing at the paintbrush next to it but deciding to leave it there for now. It's not nearly as incriminating, she thinks.
"So, what is it that you do in 1714? You said you were a captain...." she starts, looking at him curiously.

"Ah. None of it illegal, of course," she says, fairly certain that he meant piracy.
In response to his question, she gives the standard answer, albeit with a bit more elaboration.
"I work at a club, dealing cards... However, at the moment I have significantly less freedom than you'd think." She shrugs it off, considering. "But it's really my fault, I guess. I signed the contract...." She trails off, not sure he'd have any idea what she was talking about.

"Are you sure?" Felicity replies somewhat drily, his look leading her to believe she's been mistaken for a type of person she doesn't like being mistaken for.
She hopes it's a misunderstanding on her part, though. "What do you think the situation is?" She asks, smiling and trying not to sound too offended.

Felicity raises an eyebrow slightly, then smirks, leaning forward across the table toward him and speaking in a confidential whisper.
"I believe you're thinking of the wrong trade."
She sits down again, still smiling a bit. "I just play cards-- nothing more. And I try to make that very clear."

Felicity laughs, not sure if he's covering his mistake or pointing out hers, but finding it funny either way.
"I should've known.... No, not a card painter by trade-- only when they need touching-up." She momentarily wondered whether or not to reveal her actual profession-- for all she knew, he could already be aware of it. So she left it alone for the time being and moved on to a different subject.
"So, you've been coming here for a while, then.. anything I should know? anyone to look out for?"

Felicity blinks, trying to keep track of everyone he was mentioning. Of course, some she knew, but most of them she'd never heard of. She disregarded the drinking advice for the most part, not really intending to drink anything here at least for now, but took note of it anyway.
The last part bothered her especially.
"Killing people? Why?" For some reason, she'd been under the impression that you couldn't kill people at the Brink of Time, that it would create some paradox or other sort of confusion. This new revelation troubled her.
