"How Many are there in Vesandar that do not uphold the one true faith?" The gaurd thrust his melee weapon at where he through the voice was coming from. Nothing but air countered his weapon.
"You had better convince me soon that letting you live longer is worth my time." The gaurd raised the alarm still unable to find his foe. The details provided by this 'shade' made him weary of imediate attack. He turned his back towards the city, not too far away, and kept his eyes towards the endless abyss of black. His night vision did not help him when there was nothing to see.
Before help could arrive to support the guard, he felt his back pricked. He looked down when he found moving his legs was impossible. Two black things were protruding from his chest, severing his spine and only injuring his heart, liver and lungs. He would die quite slowly, and painfully.
The black object disappeared before he could truly register the size, shape or use of them.

Malik woke. but his attention was diverted outside...to something else. something...no. someone. he felt whole again. though a raise of a hand, and a little concentration, and it started to glow red. light red..then a darker shade..but that was as far as it got. Piper's tasks had been completed, but magic wasn't fully in force yet. that might take a little more time. but it was coming back.
then he got up, glancing at his son with the draithix. that was interesting. and piper probably woudl get a bit of a chuckle from that.
"Trying to teach him to wear shoes, are we? well lets get you something to eat. and I think Zahara owes you some cookies, doesn't she."

Zykariel blinked at his father and then nodded. After all his mother had hurt him more times than he could count. "He said your mommy took you away when you were young. So he didn't know who you were and now he does so now he's sorry. He said you were stubborn Daddy. Doesn't that mean he wants you to forgive him? Sometimes big elves don't really think and they do things that aren't nice. Mr. Malik has before and so has Mommy." Then a thought came to him. "Mr. Khaiver is...Llothian isn't he?"
The last remaining guard standing sentry down the way a little bit watched the entire thing. He glanced grimly down at his comrade in arms and easily pulled off the blue armband he wore, identifying him as a Vesendar drow. Entering the city he easily confirmed the alarm and all of Vesendar locked down, the gates closing and locking so that not even the strongest weapon could penetrate.

He looked up from where he was on the floor with Yinn, and gave a chuckle as Yinn happened to trip up once more yet get right back up. "They fit him, but he's clumsy." Petting the creature before picking him up around his middle with one hand, throwing up his other to MAlik. "Look! It's all better...but I still feel icky..." Though he gave a look to no particular direction, staring there a moment. Oh wait, what was that feeling again. But his short attention span went to Malik once more. "I think we missed breakfast..." And then a nod. "Yup, she said she would make some."
He blinked at his son...that was an oddly specific statement wasn't it? What was Khaiver referring to with that, had be just been trying to scare the boy. "Why would he say that?" But a shake of his head. "Yes they do but sometimes they do it on purpose and enjoy hurting others as well." A blink at the child. "Well...no he's not. He's something like that though." A look to Zahara in the help fashion.
Piper looked at the fortress before her, and she got some rather pleased looks from patrolling guards. Though she didn't smile back. A look to Serino then, "Go on to the stables...Ramoth is probably worried and you can get yourself cleaned up." Which she also needed desperately...hell she was a nice over all shade of mud and other indeterminable things; skin, clothes, hair, and equipment included. Hell she even had junk in her boots. Quite slowly she made her ways to the front doors, it was taking her some effort...now that the adrenaline rush was gone and things completed...she was realizing just how worn, sore, battered, and drained she was. Home never looked so good, yet she wasn't smiling. Pushing them open and letting herself in, leaning against them as she closed them. Sweet sancturary found in home...she should be happier.

This left the assailent some what perplexed. He had hoped for a counter attack, which would have made things that much easier, but now everyone was stuck in one place, surrounded by a wall, with gates that could not be opened easily.
If he burned the docks, they would starve themselves to death in a few months or years, depending on their stock, but with magic restored a siege would never avail to anything.
That left two options: leaving the city, or sacking the city.
In the safety of a nicely concealed cave, the assailent prepaired to sack the city. It took twenty five minutes to gather up the components he needed. He was grateful for the heritics to build their city so close to the cliffs, where the materials he needed were in abundance. It took another five minutes to prepare the ingrediants. It took another three minutes to prepare the mixture for use.
It was pretty easy to move around unoticed in the underdark. It was less so to spread a paste over gate, but do able. It requiered alot of fense and some careful planing, but it was accomplished rather quickly and efficiently.
As strong as the gates were against melee weapons, magic and other things, they could infact be used to the same end without those things. By covering them with a substance which will cause atomic reactions inthe base materials, the gates can be quickly converted into 'pipe' bombs. Fitted into the wall as to enable the best protection of the city, the quick expansion of the materials due to heat exchange would cause serious fractures in the gate, as well as the wall around the gate. It took fifteen minutes, but the effect was very much unexpected by those closest to the gates. The resulting pressure caused the metal to shatter in two directions (in to the city, and out of the city) killing anyone who stood to close to the door. Everyone within 100 feet of the gate would be injured by the sheer number and velocity of the metal shards.
During that time, the assialent actually decided to leave the city. He heard the resulting rumble of the gate and realised that he probably gave up a good oppurtunity to gain more gratitude from the Spider Queen, but shrugged it off as unnecessary.

Malik's ears twitched, and he picked his son up, and carried him downstairs to Piper, setting him down.
"Look who's home."
before turning his attention to Khavier for a moment. ah. supplies had arrived. wonderful. a whistle that got a necromancer to come from downstairs, and move to the area Khavier was in. he was Tier'dal. and had his head covered in a silver skullcap under his robes. he looked at Khavier like he was a bug, and merely took a seat nearby.
Malik turned his attention to his wife, however. she looked sore, beaten battered, and there were tear trails in the grime around her face. the purian elves weren't with her, so she probably hadn't seen what had become of the penninsula. which ment something else had made her cry. and her manner of holding herself said death. so only one conclusion. Meilikki.

Zahara glanced at her son and frowned. "Did he tell you something else Kariel? Did he ever say that he wanted your Daddy to forgive him or are you just taking that from something else he said? It's really important that we know everything just the way he said it." Though she sat down on the bed and picked him up, pulling him into her lap. "Remember what Malik told you about Llothians? Well, Khaiver is a lot like that, little one. He hurts others for no reason whatsoever and he lies."
Zykariel nodded still seeming to agree with his parents. "Exactly. He had to hurt Daddy because he was Llothian because the mean women would have hurt him if he didn't. That's what Mr. Malik said about them." He paused for a moment, faltering. "Well..no, but if he was Llothian then he was forced to and now he can come and make it all better with Daddy." Looking at his father. "You can't still be mad at him Daddy. He's got to come back and visit."
The Vesendarians had had enough of fighting and senseless killing when they were trapped in Lloth's court. They were through with it all, wishing to live peaceful lives in any manner of their choosing. They'd all felt the absence of Lloth's influence in their lives and had been living quite fine for years. They were more of a defensive rather than offensive state of mind now. The barrier that had been reinstated around the city wiht magic came back adn stopped some of the barrage but hardly enough to even matter. Thus they took to fixing the gates and wall and carting off their injured. A message was sent by way of Twilight warning them that something was afoot and asking for Malik's protection if it came down to it.

It was the magic pick me up sentence for the child to squirmed and was off like a shot, running to his mother and slamming into her more or less, wrapping around her legs despite the horrid condition of filth and exhaustion she was in. "Mommy!" And then it was pick me up gesture.
Piper looked up from her boots at Malik's voice and then the sound of running little feet before her son was cutting off her circulation. Instead of picking him up though she merely got down to his level and wrapped an arm around him...good thing kids didn't care about mess...though the transference wasn't going to be pretty on the child...he'd just be filthy too. But she did force a smile for him. "Hi baby...I missed you so much..." But she detached him. "Careful, I'm filthy..." With things she didn't even know what they were anymore. Her attention turned up though to Malik and...was that Khaiver? Yeah...that's what she needed to come to home to, wasn't it? A look back to Malikhai. "I can't pick you up right now sweety...mommy's very worn...."
Khaiver merely nodded to Malik. "As promised, here are your things." Thus getting off the crate and throwing a vial of a bottled Zephyr to the necromancer. "Use that to get on your way, I'm not done here yet."
Confusion. "He doesn't have to come back and visit. I promise you he isn't a good playmate...he would just steal your toys and such." Thus was brustrating wasn't it? Very very much and the child wasn't making it any easier either. "Zykariel...I don't want you near him, okay?"

And that one sentence horribly upset the child. He vaulted off his mother's lap and shook his head, starting to cry. "You can't take him away Daddy! You just can't! Why wont' you just let it go? You don't even know if he really is mean or if he was just forced to do it. I bet if you talk to him he'd tell you the truth. All of it!" He couldn't lose his grandfather, not after just getting him. He just couldn't.
Zahara blinked at his outburst and watched her son then slowly stood up and walked over, crouching down to his level. "Little one, we don't trust Khaiver. He's done and said some things in the past that have been really bad. And if they were forced and he dind' tmean them then I'm sure Daddy will talk to him about it and work it out. But until they do and we are absolutely sure, we need you to stay away from him."
Not even Mommy understood! He pulled away from her too and shook his head. "That's not fair! How come I never get to have what I want? How come I can't be like Malikhai?" Sobbing he ran over nad picked up Rawr then moved into the hallway and sat down, hugging the stuffed dragon tightly.

Malik looked at her a bit more critically.
"Meilikki is dead, isn't she. the purians aren't with you, so you didn't take them home. the tear stains wouldn't have come from goodbyes, adn your too withdrawn for them to be tears of joy."
Malik walked over and picked up Malikhai, and helped his wife to her feet.
"Take a bath, a long one, plenty of soaking to make your muscles feel better. then we can talk if you want, and we'll help you through whatever it is that is weighing so heavy on you. It's good to have you home, and I have missed you terribly...but you're worn, your sore and your injured. you need some time to relax your straining body."
setting his son down and patting his back.
"Go up to our room and start your mom a nice bath. get some bubblebath too and put it in there. and some of the petals in the third drawer on the nightstand by my side of the bed."
then giving his wife a kiss that was long overdue.
"my dealings with Khavier are almost done. he'll be gone soon and we'll be safe and sound. no blood to wolves this time."
the necromancer looked at the vial, and at Khavier..before rolling his eyes and doing what was requested. it woudl be so nice to have all his power restored at least.

And apparently the child was upset with him now. Sevilin drew in a breath, held it, and then slowly let it out...this was so frustrating why did this have to happen...should of tied the kid to his wrist. Now he had this to deal with this and he had no idea how to, particularly since he didn't exactly why the child was upset and hwo Malikhai was involved in all of this either. "Zykariel...just...stop please." Picking the child up, and going into soothing motions. "Just...for right now...stay away...okay?" He was really at a loss here.
"And now D'vinn, things are complete between us. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a camp to go make myself." He would abide by Sevilin's little conditions...only because it was more convenient for him...though a smirk at the man. "Spunky kid, by the way...and I see your wife is a little more rough and tumble." But a dismissive wave and he turned on his boot heel, heading out.
He resisted being pulled off his mother some, but settled and was duely off and up the stairs with Yinn in hold, going to do what was told. After all, if he helped them mommy would have all that free time to spend wiht him and daddy and things would be back to normal. Thus into the fancy big bathroom, turning on water and dropping into the filling tub what was told to be put in before toddling back downstiars to his parents. He could leave the tub, it wouldn't fill up all the way till mommy was upstairs. "Okay I did it!"
She was quiet for a moment. "They're having her funeral in three days. And you forgot to add in the guilt..." Shaking her head slightly but letting him help her up. "Sounds like a plan...I'd do something drastic for hot clean water if I had to right now..." Watching thier son run off as he was given instructions and was oh so eager to please, attention being pulled back to her husband as he kissed her. Now that ladies and gentlmen was a brave man to kiss her when she was icky as hell. "Better not...last thing I need right now is Andal things to deal with..." Though she resisted teh urge to rest against the man...being caked in a good layer or two if ick wasn't fun. Put a smile to Malikhai as he came back. "Thank you dear," giving a look to Malik. "I'm fine A'mael..." sorta, but she felt like passing otu reassurance...thus up to her room with her throwing up everything on her person and plopping herself in the tub. Hot clean water...it was a godsend.

Sevilin wasn't the only one at a loss, Zahara was right there with him. Zykariel wasn't making any sense and he seemed so upset, almost teh way he'd been when Rawr had been broken. She watched Sevilin pick and up and soothe the child and listened as his sobs quieted down into sniffles before he rubbed at his eyes. "Come on little one, let's go make those cookies I promised." Walking over she took their son and rubbed at his back, lightly, then shifted him slightly. "Promise you won't go near him?"
Kariel had cried himself just about out and he rubbed at his eyes and wiped his cheeks. "I promise I won't go near," he hiccuped. "Mr. Khaiver. And I'm sorry for upsetting you Daddy..."

Malik nodded lightly, and shook his head. humans left the world so quickly. which is why he tried not to have any friends in thier race...they were inferior creatures anyway. but looking over to Zahara as she came by with Zykariel.
"Piper is back home. magic is returning as well...what's the matter with him? he stub a toe or something?"

Well...that was somewhat solved, at least for now. Which was a much welcome thing...it was all too much right now and he didn't know exactly where to start to make things better. "Thank you...and it's alright. Now go make cookies..." Plopping down on the bed with a sigh, taking on a pensive look as he sat there as Zahara tooks Zykariel off to soothe him with cookie making...oh he hated moments of crisis...badly. Though a look down at his hands as they got a certain tingly feeling. Hm...
Hey that was exciting news. "That means we can do lessons again!" Wasn't that lovely. He held to his father's pant leg though, watching Zahara and Zykariel a moment...Zy seemed upset...did that mean no cookies?
Oh gods, wonderful hot water...which she had drained three times already with the scrubbing off grime process....it was so nice to not be caked in something and to have her hair that nice silvery white with bright red streaks again. So now, tub full once more she was merely letting herself soak...at least made her muscles feel better. Idly she picked one of the petals out of the water and let her fingers lidly play with it. Though of course she was left to think on things, which was probably bad right now but she was trying to also keep herself in balance....did not need negative bond feelings being broadcasted too loudly right now. Though she was quite amazed at the bruises and lacerations she did have...lot of those you didn't see under the grime. So...first thing she was going to do when she felt clean enough was put on something comfortable and have a glass of wine...sounded lovely.

Piper was back? "Well, that's wonderful news."So that was what that feeling was. Zahara shook her head, "No we just had a little issue with promises is all. But it's going to get better in a minute when we make cookies, right little one." She brushed his hair out of his face and glanced at Malikhai. "We're going to make cookies in a little bit Malikhai." She carried her son into the bathroom and set him on the counter, wetting a washcloth and gently sponging away the tear stains. Then she took a brush and fixed his haphazardly braided hair before kissing his nose. "All better?"
He nodded and wrapped his arms around her neck hugging her. "You don't think Daddy's mad at me do you?"
"No little one. He's just worried, that's all. Go get the slaves to help you get the sugar and stuff. You know the ingredients that go into cookies by heart by now." Patting him on the butt to get him moving, she started pulling out utensils. "Malikhai, come on if you want to help." She pulled over two stools to set the boys on so they were at counter height and then waited.
