She really didn't want to look back up at him just now but she forced herself to and stood her ground firmly. "I was curious when you forced me back inside and since I had Zykariel with me, I manufactured a need to go out to the stables. And well...we accidentally on purpose came upon Khaiver. He was being shaken by an ogre so I didn't think he'd seen us but clearly I was wrong..."

That was no longer good news and Zykariel felt his bottom lip start to tremble but he bit down on it to stop it. He didn't want to lose Nym and neither did his father, he was sure. "What's the point of bringing them back as a puppet? That doesn't help no one."

He glanced at Malikhai and shrugged. It was hard to explain to one who had always had his parents around and loving each other how it felt to know your parents didn't. "I'd take the rocks if it meant they were bonded forever," he said quietly.

"well...the issue there is one of the cores of Necromancy. you see...a necromancer can control the undead they raise. while nym might not be more than a puppet. I can have him do anything he could do in life and then some. he coudl be a little thief, and unseen spy for me. not that it would help you much. but I don't intend to let Nym die. there are numerous things that can be done to help him that don't involve magic."

then leaning forward a bit between both boys, letting yinn down on the ground.

"bonds are only between the willing. there are issues of trust that must be taken into consideration and have to be accepted. it wasn't easy for me and piper at all. it was frightening to her in some aspects, and distasteful to me in others. simply because there are always secrets. no matter how much you love or trust, there are always things that you never expose. but they are when you become bonded to someone. they learn everything, see everything you ever hid, everything you never wanted anyone to ever know. and you have to accept that, and allow them to know that part of you. and it's especially not easy for drow."

sitting back again.

"there are things I've done...that while I feel no shame, they would be abhorrent to others. and there are things that have happened that show weaknesses or things that I do feel ashamed of allowing to happen. and no drow likes to think that someone might know all thier darkest secrets. because for a drow, those things can get you killed. it's self preservation for the most part."

He stared at her a moment, processing thoughts in his head. After all, one would think that he would have cause to explode at her...but he mere took in a breath, and held it a moment before running his hand over his face and petting the little ferret head that popped out from the collar of his tunic. "I knew I should of told you." He knew how she acted and still tried to baby her about the issue. "He may of seen you, but he wouldn't of known Zykariel was mine...I just confirmed it for him." Kicking at a rock on the ground...though he was hoping that Khaiver had mentioned 'children' as merely a noun and not 'children' as in he knew about Malikhai too. After all, there weren't too many signs of children in the house.

"Puppets break though." But a look to his friend again as he was shrugged at. "You wouldn't get the rocks if it was them...it's gotta be you too." But a look up to his father as he had leaned in, little hands reaching out for Yinn as he was put down and duely curled himself in Malikahi's lap. They were learning new things, wasn't this fun? It sure was. Though what Malik said was true...though age was a factor...when Malik and Malikhai had had thier first communion in order to start establishing things easier than Malik and Piper had when they were bonding, there wasn't much to filter through that was negative, seeing as his son couldn't reciprocate the feelings and experiences, therefore the ceremony merely skipped it, searching for things in common and acting on those. Daddy could be VERY fluffy and loving...or at least he had seen. A look to his friend. "The important part is that no matter what, the other person still likes you." Or something like that. But a nod to his friend. "We should still have one."

Her gaze snapped up at him for a moment and she frowned. Wait, what? He wasn't upset, wasn't disappointed, wasn't even going to give her that 'you're acting like a child' look? Now she felt even worse because he was taking the blame on himself. He was too damn good for her. She personally felt that anyone could look at her son and tell who his father was since they looked exactly alike, but then at the same time she knew that elves took after one parent. He had her eyes, so he genetically had her features as well. "It doesn't matter, Sevilin. He would have found out eventually especially with their natural curiosity. All Khaiver has to do is snoop around and someone would let it slip that he's yours. But he won't get to Kariel." Maybe it was time she and Khaiver had a heart to heart.

"Mommy said it didn't matter what Daddy did, he'd never be bad in her eyes. And eyes are important." He frowned though as he listened and then shook his head. Not telling someone something was the same as doing bad things. And bad things got you into trouble. "Isn't that lying? You shouldn't lie." He got sent to his room for that though he'd only done it one time over how many cookies he'd had.

"It's not lying. there are things many of us have done we're either not proud of, or things that others may find...frightening, or horrible. for example, I've been a soldier in wars. which means I've killed many, many people. dwarves, humans, elves...and as I gained rank, I ordered the deaths of many. there are things with Malvolence that aren't pretty to see or know about. So I keep them to myself, so that other people won't be afriad or intimidated by them."
PostPosted: Tue Apr 03, 2007 7:33 pm

"Still the prinicple of the thing." He sneered lightly...hated it how Khaiver could push his buttons and Sevilin let him get away with it. Some things you wanted to kick your own a** for. But he shook his head, merely scratching at Nym's ears again before looking back to Zahara. "What's done is done...we just have to not let it get any worse...I don't want him near Zykariel at all...or Malikhai for that matter. Especially now."

"Mommy calls that 'hiding the truth to protect the ones we love'." Which yes had been said in defference to something that Malik had mentioned or done around the child, and Malikhai had looked to his mother for the explaination since at the time, he certinally wasn't going to get it from Malik himself. A pet at Yinn who started to chew his fingers.

She hated his sneers, wanted to knock them right off his face since it reminded her far too much of her old ways and home. "What do you mean 'especially now?'" she asked trepidation and concern lacing her voice. Khaiver had obviously upset him big time over the boys. "What exactly did he tell you, Sevilin?"

"Miss Piper doesn't know you've done bad things? She'd love you anyway 'cause that's what love is. She told me once that love meant staying around and hugging someone even when you're real mad because of something they've done. And Daddy kinda said the same thing when he told me that he'd always love me no matter how much trouble I got into." He crossed his arms for a moment and got his thoughtful look then glanced up at Malik. "How do you make them bond?"

Rested and clean, it was finally time to get going again. The small team traveled as the could, walking here and there and riding on the windy horse. It took a nice long time before they reached their destination. The camped for a good rest this time before venturing into the temple doorway.

Which, by the way, was notihng more (that they could percieve, at least) then a hole in the gorund that was filled with water.

"Underground caverns. Drowned, of course."

"Bonds are not something you can force. it is only something that one must agree to. it takes a great deal of caring, trust, and faith between two elves. It is not something that can be forced for those reasons. trying to force someone into a bond won't work, the communion won't even begin without those factors in place."

a small grin.

"which means, while your parents may be able to bond with you, it is not likely for them to bond with eachother. but it's not something I can demand or force them to do."
PostPosted: Thu Apr 05, 2007 11:40 am

"I mean since I gave him a hand out of confirmation...and if I have a son around, then there must be a woman around somewhere as well, right? And if he saw you as well as Zykariel...well it gets all the more complicated..." After all, Khaiver would try to twist things and such. It would just be a complicated twisted mess. "And he just told me that I better not make him use children against me because I am playing his game and his rules, just like I've always been. If anything, he's demanding."

"Mommy knows lots of stuff like that." Said to his friend before a look to the draithix in his lap who was now climbing up his chest to slink around his neck, forepaws on his left shoulder and backpaws on his right, standing there and sniffing at the air, apparently intrigued by something. A look up to his father, despite the creature crawling all over him. "How did you and mommy get yours?" After all he knew his father, and he knew the story of his parents...at least some of it and the very least at how they met and such. "And since I'm not drow and I'm not the other one, then what does that mean about me?" Because well...drow apparently had trouble, but he wasn't all the kind of elf mommy was either.

She had continued in her map making, trying to put down as much as she could just as she always had...the miles just kept passing by. Slower when they walked than with they rode, but they still steadily kept going by the whole time. Underdark just kept being farther and farther away. She was what? A good six hundred or more miles away from her home and her family...it was taxing. But now they stood staring at water that was an entrance. "And probably full of things we don't want to know about." A walk over to Serino and she pat him, "You'll have to stay here." Handing him her map to hold onto since she didn't want to get it wet. "Anything you all want to keep dry, Serino can watch it." Reaching into her pack and pulling out rebreathers, passing out the devices. Grabbing her dagger and a stone, she sparked them in front of her eyes again...the others could rely on their elven sight as could she in the dark, but she wanted just a little extra vision. Grabing a length of rope, she tied it to her belt and threw it to Leaf, "Tie that to your person too...we dont' want to get seperated in the water. "Well then...let's get going." Pulling her rebreather on and plopping starting into the water.

"Not if you killed the child's mother after he was born." After all Khaiver would knew the way Sevilin was when he'd been with them in Andal. And he'd hated women big time when she'd first met him so Khaiver would remember that side and it probably wouldn't surprise him in the least. Zykariel was a boy after all though she didn't know how much Khaiver knew about Sevilin's true desires, those to raise his own children and such. It was mind boggling how much things had changed in a few short years. "Because he knows he can be. Khaiver is used to every male bowing down to him and he still includes you in that mix. He's messing with your head, trying to put you back into that mindset you had when you were younger. I know it's hard, Sevilin, but you can't let him do that."

"Did Malikhai get a choice?" Seemed to him like his parents had decided they wanted a bond with him and the little Malikhai in Miss Piper's tummy hadn't really known what was happening. Or maybe he did. It wasn't fun to hear that his parents weren't going to ever be bonded. "Can they be married without one?" In his childish world, marriage and love were the same thing.

He thought about it for a moment and then got an idea. "Can't they bond with each other through me?" If he built three block houses and connected both of the outer ones to the middle one through a path, then a person at hte first house could get to the third one by going through the second. It all worked out nicely, didn't it?

"Me and Piper got ours the same way you and I are getting ours. and you can have bonds as easily as the surface elves. so can drow, if they can overcome thier innate fear and paranoia about letting someone else that close."

then a pat on Zykariel's shoulder.

"Of course they can. a human can have a marriage without bonding. and humans can't bond. so your parents can marry without a bond."

though a thoughtful look on that last one.

"To be honest, I don't know. I'm not all that familiar with it...but, Piper would know, or Kieran...or Lateef maybe. and Lateef should be visiting us soon you can ask him."

"And yet I would keep another woman to watch over my son? He's not stupid...he knows I would never let a woman around my son if I had any kind of doubt in her, or if I hadn't brought her to heel in some kind of personal vengence...and I'm not going to ask you to act that way either." First, it was stupid and second...he really didn't want things to look that way, even imitation wise.

A shake of his head. "He's not used to lording over anybody, only those that have the gall to stand up to him on some level, or those he personally 'takes under his wing'." He had that privilage, now didn't he? Horrid thing to have. Or had really. But a sigh, raising a hand to rub at his temples a moment. This wasn't as easy as she thought it was, but he wished it could be. "As soon as he's done with Malik, he's getting out of this place if he wants anything further with me."

"Oh." Well, that was a happy answer, but he squinted an eye though as Yinn's front paws rested on his head, the creature holding his weight there. "So it's all about not being scared of each other right?" Which was good information to know, the little elves being sponges right now. But oh look a new name. "Who's Lateef?" Hadn't really connected Isleandra to Lateef.

Reaching up he grabbed the creature, pulling him down and holding him in his arms...though the next thing he knew, he gave a yelp as the creature startled from a horse and leaped over his shoulder, leaving a few scratches on his shoulder and a few little tears in his tunic and something wet as well...hey that stuff was starting to burn. Unhappy look...and the feeling was goign away...and..."Daddy! I can't move my arm!" Which now hung limp at his side and he looked about to cry.

Leaf and Fin also too the devices given to them, although both thought fondly of that wonderful armor they had been given the last time they were in an underwater temple.

They splashed in behind Piper after elaving a few choice things behind with the windy horse. They found themselves traveling down a long tunnle, and soon lost all sense of up or down. The bubbles they left in their wake stayed oddly suspended where they were blown, creepy and unsettling.

They came apon a three way split in the tunnle, no idea which one to take, as they all look the same.

Yeah this was fun...lots of swimming...creepy water. It felt oddly thick too, which was disturbing now wasn't it? Then again all of this temple business was disturbing...very much so. And oh the fun of having to make tunnel choices...maybe instincts would prove them well and they would make the right choices....they'd just have to see how well they did. But for now as they went with thier current choice, it was all about looking out for other swimming things that would eat them...and also for something that classified as either an air pocket or perhaps an upper slightly less flooded level. Where did you look for a dias in a water temple? Where it was deeper or where it was shallow? Now would be a good time for her telepathy if she had it...but it probably wouldn't do her any good anyway with the way hers was crippled.
