He took his time writing his letter, deciding what he wanted to tell her...it all boiled down to how brave and good he was being, and that he missed her reall bad and that she better come home soon. Children always had little to say but that wasn't bad. Folding his letter he put it with the others then grabbed the rag that was offered to him and moved to help wash the junk off the zephyr, mostly his legs and such since the boys were still small. "Don't worry you'll be all clean." Though he did giggle at his father chastising the horse. "Not nice to come home all icky to her either." Far as Malikhai was concerned, those two horses were married and in love too...made his world happy.

Serino gave a happy series of noises and stood there, behaving himself as he let them all wash him down with warm water. Oh yeah this was nice...whiel the others were waist deep in cold water, he was getting practical royal treatment. A raise of a hoof from the ground, yes they were touching the ground as of now indicating how worn he was, to let the boys get at his hooves as well. He was beginning to see why shoes were much easier when walking on the ground...and had breifly considered them a few times.

he gave a snort though at Malik, tossing his head lightly at being chastised and looking over to the mare in the stall a little ways off. What? He didn't get time to do anything these days...he was either being ridden, doing a little task, or tagging along with the others. He was tired these days especially with magic gone making him a little draggy...he liked his rest. Though as he had heard from a human once, no news was good news...did that suffice?

Sevilin was tossing his dagger up in the air and catching it again with one hand. Why did he stop...he should of just severed his head right from his shoulders right then and there...so why had he stayed his hand? It wasn't like Khaiver moved to stop him. Giving a growl he sheathed the weapon and headed back outside, ready to more or less tell Malk to do his dealings soon as possible...and came upon a horse washing party...right...

Zahara just chuckled and lifted her son off the ground so he could wash the Zephyr's back as well since he'd protested about not having anything to wash off. Lowering him back to the ground, she gestured to his hooves. "He needs those washed as well." She returned her ministrations to his back and sides. Though her head snapped up at Sevilin's appearance and she studied him closely, her eyes pinning his. Dropping the rag in the bucket, she stepped around her son, ruffling his head and then walked over to him. "You alright?" she asked quietly.

Zykariel went back to washing Serino, getting down on his knees to scrub at his hooves. Slime was real icky. Though he did get mischevious at one point and splashed Malikhai, turning innocent really quickly and rubbing at a particularly slimy spot on the horse. Of course he could barely contain his giggles.

Ramoth simply snorted in her response. no news was no damn news. and she expected to be updated to the condition of her herd stallion. and that didn't mean having to wait for the elf to send letters home to find out things too.

Malik with the help of the boys and Zahara got Serino cleaned up and ready to head back to Piper.

"Take care of things, and you know that what you have is valuable, don't loose any of it."

before turning his attention to Sevilin.

"I take it things did not go as planned."
PostPosted: Sun Apr 01, 2007 7:49 pm

Malikhai blinked at his friend, before splashing him back...which started into a little splashing fight, which then turned into them flicking at each other with wet rags...Malikhai holding one hand to Yinn, whom eventually got away and took purchase in hiding behind Malik's boot. Didn't want to be crushed.

He turned his attention to Zahara, watching her a moment. "I'm fine." It was a lie, but he didn't particularly care right now, he had the great ability to hide real feelings anyway. Then his look went to Malik. "Not entirely...he's using loopholes...and old habits die hard." A bit of distaste in his voice as he crossed his arms and set his gaze into something indescriminate.

Oh clean, so nice to be clean...it was a wonderful feeling. He gave a shake, flicking water off and if anyone was close enough to get flicked by water, oh well for them. A nicker and nuzzles for them all, hell even Malik. Though a snort was turned on Ramoth. Right...got it. Be more informative, will do. Waiting to be given the packet of letters...well he knew one elf that would be happy another nicker I won't loose anything, I'm reliable, and a breath of wind before he was gone from one group and back with another. Oh Piper, I have something for you.

Piper looked up from where the three were taking a rest, the women now quite clean and they were indeed waiting for Serino, and getting themselves something to rest and eat as well. Though wasn't she surprised to see Serino come back with letters which were dropped in her lap. She curiously looked at them before taking to each one reading over each. Made her smile to hear from them all as opposed to the one way workings of late. First one she happened to open was from Zahara...and all she could do was smile and shake her head about what she hda to say...Zahara was starting to really realize things...which was good. Things were looking up for her, and she had to chuckle at the tattel tale aspects too...at least she was trying to keep things together in Piper's abcense.

The second from Malikhai which didn't make her too happy. She missed her little boy, and he missed her...she just hoped that he would still find faith in the promise of her coming back and until then his father would be enough for him...she didn't doubt that Malik would be doing his damndest for the boy. And then the third was from Malik himself...and it was a relief to see that even he took the time to casually relay the happenings of late. After all, even she didn't Malik as a man to do such. But it was nice to know he could...a little worried that Kahiver was there but that all dissolved in the knowledge that she was privy too...his worry for her and such things, his own fears, the things that bothered him, his concerns while she was gone...and then it all went...well it made her cheeks heat up and that fluttery feeling pass through her body before a giggle that she stifled, no reason to wake Leaf and Fin. A look to Serino. "PLay lookout for me? I'm exhausted..." Waiting for his nicker before she laid herself down, resting...she'd write letter back after an hour or two of rest...

Zahara wasn't having it. She knew he wasn't fine but she also didn't need Malik cutting in on it right now. The churning in her belly told her it wasn't over with yet either. "Raven...come inside. We need to talk. Malik, watch the boys." It really sucked not having magic so she could force him and she knew she couldnt' physically budge him. He'd have to go along with it but both the sympathy and pleading in her eyes might be enough to convince him. And then again, he might just brush her off and act like he was perfectly fine. At which case she would either annoy the hell out of him or challenge him to a fight, pretend he'd accepted it and start it without his consent.

Daddy looked none too happy. He recognized both that tone and that look even though it didn't look as if Sevilin was feeling anything in particular. He watched his mother walk over and halted mid throw trying to listen in on what was said. Something was wrong. Very wrong. He glanced at Malik helplessly. "Aren't surprises supposed to be happy?"
PostPosted: Sun Apr 01, 2007 8:53 pm

At the halt of thier play, he blinked curiously and then he took looked over to Malik in much the same way...after all his friend wasn't happy at all. Though his eyes did look down to Yinn to make sure daddy didn't step on his little draithix behind his boots, then back up to Malik. There was bad again.

Her nickname usage pretty much disarmed him and his eyes flicked to her a moment, watching her own with his before he sighed and dropped his arms, giving her a nod of his consent to talk but he opened his mouth with an amendment to the statement she had made. "But not inside..." Didnt' have to be here or around Malik...just not inside right now. Least he be tempted to commit a series of murders.

"Not all surprises are good ones, no. Some are annoying, some are bad. like for example, magic being taken away. that wasn't a good surprise, was it?"

but giving a nod to Zahara and minding the boys..and he did turn adn pick up the draithix and hold it for a bit while he talked.

"how about you boys come over here with me, and we'll have an answer session. any questions you want to ask, I'll try to answer unless it's something that is not allowed for you to know. how's that?"
PostPosted: Sun Apr 01, 2007 10:06 pm

Zahara nodded, "Not inside." She was about to suggest the river but he didn't like it too much so she gestured for him to follow her around to the other side of the fortress away from certain little prying ears and eyes. Sighing for a moment she closed her eyes and searched for the right words to say. Opening her eyes again she lightly pressed a hand to his cheek and murmured softly, "He got to you didn't he? Made you feel like you weren't in control and worthless..."

"No." he conceded. Malik was right, sometimes surprises just sucked. He went to the doors of the stables and watched his parents until they left his sight then looked back at Malik. Any questions at all? He was alright with that.

Slowly he made his way over and plopped down though he kept glancing back to see if his parents were visible again. "Can Malikhai go first?" He was younger after all and Zykariel wanted a little while to think about the right questions to ask.

He wrinkled his nose. No that was not a good surprise. They had just been learning magic too...it was upsetting. He watched amusedly as the draithix pup gnawed on Malik's fingers some...Yinn chewed on everything that he could get his jaws around. But a toddle over and a plop down, looking to his friend as he was more or less told to go first. Hm, what to ask...well about the magic thing was a good place to start. "Do we gotta start learning magic all over again when it comes back?" Distastful look at that.

In almost reluctant fashion he followed her as well with that air of paranoia about himself. Couldn't help it...damn paranoia, made things take longer than they needed. But he merely leaned back against the building, crossing his arms and watching a bug on the ground until Zahara touched his cheek. "I was this close to killing him, I should have done it." Demonstrating that fraction of a milimeter with his fingers...and yet he hadn't done it. And he got mocked for it too. "Apparently we're playing by his rules...and it's a pecking order that isn't easy to get out of Zahara..." A tad defensive too.

Sensing that he didn't really want to be touched again, she pulled back her hand and nodded. She understood how he was feeling probably better than anyone. It really sucked when your past came back to bite you in the a**, especially when you thought you were over it and had put it behind you. Of course his was here to bite him literally, hers had just been through reverie. "It's probably better that you didn't. Malik would have had to answer for his death and that b***h queen wouldn't have been happy at all. She would have used it as an excuse to either torment Kieran or send someone against Twilight." Using logic to pull him out of his current frame of thought. "I know it's damn near impossible. Unless the rest of the pecking order dies and no one steps up to take thier place which almost never happens. I'm not judging your actions or reactions Sevilin, I just hate this. I hate that he's here to torment you like this. It makes me sick to think about what he did to you all those years ago and now he's here to throw it in your face. Do you really have to see him and talk to him? Can't we just tell him to ******** off and kick his a** out of here?"

Good question on Malikhai's part. He was curious about that too. But he has another question as well, one that had been lingering on his mind for quite a while now. He'd thought about asking Daddy but hadn't wanted to upset him. "Is Nym going to...die?" Deeply upset look at that thought.

Malik leaned back lightly letting the draithix have a bit more room.

"No. you don't have to relearn magic. once you learn it, you have it. the power that fuels it is gone, not the lessons or the ability to use the words. and as for Nym...he's old, especially for a ferret. sevilin's life rune on him has kept him healthy and young, but without magical energy the rune is not working. so time is catching up with him. but, if he lives long enough for Piper to finish the task set for her, then he will be fine. and like Sevilin, I think there is a great deal of determination in that ferret. he should be alright through this trial."

"He puts his hands on me again and I just might..." Hey he had no qualms about doing it...he just didn't understand why he hadn't done it right then and there...what redeeming quality had he seen at the last second in Khaiver to spare him the blade? Damn it. "No we can't...I let him know about the children..." That hurt to admit, but damn it if Khaiver hadn't caught him on that one...sometimes he reacted too fast for his own good. A shake of his head to that, giving a angered noise.

That was an upsetting question wasn't it? Hm, his question didn't seem nearly as good did it. And he didn't like the look that he knew was going to cross his friend's face at that information. Okay, his turn. "If Nym did die, you could bring him back, right daddy?" Hey he knew daddy could do that kind of thing...or so his eavesdropping told him so, and mommy yelled about it sometimes.

She didn't like the look that entered his eyes when he said that though she knew where it came from and also knew she should be rejoicing that it still existed. It was hard to see him as the merciless killer though when she'd come to know the other side of him so well. Her stomach sank at his last sentence and she closed her eyes. Khaiver had most likely seen Kariel earlier and trapped him in it on purpose. She swallowed at that and studied her boots. "He already knew..."

A hopeful look crossed his face and he glanced between Malik and Malikhai, "Really?" No, it wasn't a for sure 'yes' but it was as close as he was going to get and he knew it. Besides, he liked the fact that Malik thought he was big enough to handle the truth. "But we'd have to wait until magic came back, right?" And by that point, Daddy wouldn't be happy and neither would he. He loved Nym. "How come I don't get rocks in my head when Mommy yells or when Mommy and Daddy fight?"
PostPosted: Mon Apr 02, 2007 9:19 pm

"well...with magic, yes, I can restore a dead body to unlife, but it wouldn't be the same. it would be more a ferret...puppet, than Nym. necromancy raises the dead...and we can restore a spirit to flesh, but only if we have the spirit to restore. if nym died before magic returned...I can't stop his spirit from moving on."

then a glance at the other boy. hmm. that was a tough one there.

"Well...that's because you and your parents don't share a bond like me nad piper do with malikhai. malikhai got his with his mom during her pregnancy, and we had the opportunity to start one shortly after his birth."

"See, drow don't have that normally becuase they don't have naturally forming bonds. it's because while bonds are very nice things, the loss of a person you have bond with can be just as lethal to the person on the other end. and drow constantly fight with eachother and others, thus thier mortality rate is very high. which is also why it's easier for a drow to get pregnant compared to a surface born elf."

He blinked at her, then stared a moment, trying to decipher what she exactly meant by that statement...yet he had the feeling she had something to do with it. After all...she was doing that look down at her boots because they had suddenly become interesting. "What do you mean he already knew?"

"Puppets aren't fun...Nym's just gonna have to not die then." Of course he didn't really understand that sometimes you didn't get a choice in that matter. But he tilted his head and listened to his friend's question and answer. A smile though. "She visitied me a lot." Whatever that meant, probably something that was hard to explain and at his age he lacked the ability to tell anyone what that did indeed mean. A look to his friends. "Shouldn't you be happy that you don't get the rocks? I don't like the rocks at all..."
