blue cheese of light -amazed by history rant- I PITY POOR TN. -hugging him- "It's alright, little sister is here to comfort you. emotion_dowant I was really impressed by TN's friendship with Chickasaw. I'd always thought after TN had his break in trust with Cherokee that he hated all natives, but looks like that wasn't true. My only complaint about my book is that it only covered the years of war between him and the Indian Nations during TN's relatively brief time as the Southwest Territory so you don't get the full story of the frontier war. I know the first half, but I bet this author would have explained it better... Sometimes knowing the facts isn't good enough if you don't get the context of the events. History is so dramatic and exciting~ emotion_kirakira

.......... *stares at book* Omgz... I found the most tragic sentence ever when looking back through the introduction chapter. (The book gives a brief synopsis of TN from very first settlement to becoming the Southwest Territory there.) To sum up the Crown's view on baby!TN it says: "Though these settlers made no proclamation of independence nor professed any intention of rebellion, the Crown authority presiding over the colonies determined that the very existence of an illegal settlement outside of the British Empire's control was in and of itself an act of defiance." To me the wording of this translates to "In England's eyes baby!TN merely living was an act of defiance." <-- Probably one of the saddest things I've ever imagined someone saying to or thinking about a baby.
