Zahara shook her head, he was talking about Mahlari, she knew that much. Though she'd never actually met the woman she had had a discussion with Kieran about him while she'd been in Andal for the wedding and Lateef as well and neither had given a glowing report about her. "Is it really a good idea to mess with anyone on Andal? That might upset people all around..."
"Yup, I knew that too because he went back with Aunt Lark and Miss Isle." He frowned at the feeding the sword from both Malikhai and then echoed by Malik. "How do you feed a sword? Daddy's polearm doesn't eat anything or Mommy would be feeding it all the time."
He took the book from Malik and plopped it open to a random page, not really thrilled with the idea of studying but willing to do it so Malikhai could go play. "Mommy doesn't like it when people bleed. She makes them take health stuff and she always gets mad at Daddy when he comes out of his secret room covered in it too."

"I dark wonder what you have going on in your head, yet feel it in my best interest to not know for now...I have plenty on my plate with Khaiver here and trying to keep little ones off his radar." Hopefully Khaiver would be content with just Sevilin himself...though he didn't want to think about thow that little crossing of paths was going to go...match to a powder keg anyone? Even with Malik's promises. A look to Zahara though. "Depends on how you do it really...Crest Brigade really only goes as far as Vrist Outpost before it lets up...becuase well, things go downward at that point."
A blink and a look to children. "It's not secret, you're just not used to locked doors." Children...they said everythign they saw and didn't think two seconds about it either.
He giggled. "Your mommy feeds everything like that." Though good question on his friends part because he didn't know how you fed a sword either. Children asked these kinds of things. But a slighly grossed out look at being handed over his little history book that was full of waaaaay too much in his opinion. Andal, Norrath..a few other places, it was a lot. But he crawled from his father's lap as his friend has taken the book and plopped a page open and he flopped own on his tummy right next to him, flipping to the page where he left off from. "Just gotta do five pages." Five pages with a lot of little writing on it front and back...

"Every action, Zahara, has an equal and opposite reaction. coming to my home, and holding out papers stating that one of mine can be killed or incarcerated for life with a tone that implies that they might attempt said threat if I didn't play nice...means I will react by placing said parties into a situation where my threats of death or permenant imprisonment can be carried out."
a glance at Sevilin.
"while my form of imprisonment is more a cage of fear or trepidation than that stone and bars...it is a prison none the less. All I need is to get the blood, and for you and I to get a certain runic circle to fit on said mundane object in a correctly working way. the other two vials of thier blood I'll use for information gathering."
then a look at Zykariel and Malikhai.
"My sword isn't just a sword...it's alive in a way. and while you're a little young to know how I feed it, suffice to say that it's not something young eyes should see."

She mulled that over for a moment and had to agree. She was out for blood from the one who had threatened her comfortable way of life as well as the progress she'd made with Sevilin. Last thing she needed was for him to go back to the way he was. "Why can't you just do that with Khaiver? He's already here. Andal can't get upset since he was on your land and it affects Mahlari and keeps anything from happening to Sevilin."
Zykariel groaned, "Five whole pages? That'll take forever." A flop down on the bed next to his friend and bookmarked three pages. "Can we take breaks? Or we could read seperate pages at once and then just tell each other what we read." Then they'd be done twice as fast. He had a funny picture going in his head about the sword though...one that didn't make him too happy.
"What's happening to Daddy? Is this about..." he snapped his mouth shut a moment later glancing between his parents. Wait, Daddy didn't know about the surprise yet. But a frown. "What's happening...?"

Sevilin shook his head, he knew what Khaiver was up to with those papers. "Crest Brigade won't come off Andal for that...that's just them mucking up Andal itself and you know how they feel about that. They're merely a loop hole for Khaiver to justify whatever means he's getting at. Think of it as like a free pass, especially if he gets me back on Andal." Though he was also sure that Khaiver knew he knew that...and had something else tucked in his gloves so to speak.
Shaking his head lightly, glancing to the boys...if he was worried abotu anyone it was them, and Zahara. Some things you just didn't want to share with others about your past. "I can make a runic circle fit and work on anything...that's not problem." Turning his attention back to Zahara. "Don't worry about it really...you just watch your back aroud him." After all...she was having her little instinct problem too and well...yeah... but a look to his son, someone was acting suspicious. "Nothing to worry about it son, we have ti all under control." Or so he hoped.
A lean close to Zykariel at Malik's statement, giving a whisper. "That means it involves something that happens in the basement." A sober nod at that, because the basement was that kind of place but he turned his attention back to the book. "We can take breaks, mommy usually lets me." Though he brightened. "That's a great idea! We'll get done faster and then we can play." Yup, sounded like a plan to him.

A nod to his son.
"yes it does."
And a smile at Sevilin.
"Ah, wonderful. So, I know you know, but do enlighten me just how dangerous is it to the one afflicted by the only runic pattern that I know of that actually has a name, the crinosifix circle? on a scale of one to ten."
hey had to be careful of little ears.
"and Khavier himself is nothing. strike him down, they get a replacement with a snap of the fingers. take two of the ruling house out of the equation, it gets a little more complicated. and a lot more troublesome."

She still didn't like the sound of this too much but kept her mouth pretty much shut since they both had an answer to everything. In other words, Khaiver had all but free reign since Malik had already threatened him within an inch of his life and it wouldn't be any great blow to Mahlari to lose her favored. Not the way attacking her own person would be. Though she still felt that it would be a bad idea, almost like inviting the entirety of the Depths to Lab. She took the warning with a nod and gave 'the look' to her son. Silly boy was going to get her in big trouble in a few seconds. "Yup, not a thing to worry about Kariel. You just do your history with Malikhai. It's good for you to know these things. Makes you a wise elf."
Ah, the basement. Quite a scary place sometimes. Some of those rooms he swore were alive with thigns he'd rather not know about. He glanced at his mother and recognized the message in her eyes so he dropped his eyes back to his the page and began to read. "Great! I'll read these back two and a half pages and you read the front ones. Nobody turns till we're both done, right?" Then an idea, "If I do history with Khai can I have a special treat?" Looking at both his parents with puppy dog eyes.

"Well...not really something I can answer. You are affected by a certain bounds. Your knowledge calls you master but your body and ease with which you can preform is still a beginners level. And Mahlari always has her sister at her side and thus a rune mage of her own who would have no problem with taking care of that....Andalian rune mages against each other is merely a battle of waste...nothing is permanent, nothing can take root but for a few minutes, if seconds." Wasn't it fun to give opinions? Much so.
A raise of an eyebrow. Was Malik trying to take down the whole of the Vrist empire...perhaps he didn't understand the balance...or maybe he did and didn't care. Would be interesting to hear what a few choice surface elves would think of thier plan falling wholly into chaos and fingers pointed certain ways. "You know, there were worse women than Mahlari who would snatch a throne. One is named Marrkellyn for example..." A look to Zykariel then. "We'll see."
He nodded in agreement and then took to his own pages. This was going to work great and hey they got to tell each other things too...good thing about being an elf and having to do history...you only had to read it once to get it stuck in your head forever. But a smile as his friend went about manipulating...he was getting good at that.

She'd forgotten about that completely. Rune mages were indeed their own catch-22 since they could easily undo what the other had done, at least Andallian ones. But something else flickered into her mind and shifted uncomfortably then moved closer to Sevilin, wrapping an arm around his waist just in case Malik got angry with her. "What if Khaiver figures out what you're doing and decides he's going to use something against you. And what if that something is someone really close to you whose disappearance can destroy you and others close to her." Referring to Piper of course though she hated to do it. The implications of that simple statement were too manganimous to even fully comprehend. Malikhai was bonded to her and so was Malik and so were her parents. Khaiver going after Piper spelled disaster for many of them.

Malik gave a slight chuckle.
"who said I want her off the throne? I want her crippled on the throne. I want her to have to ask permission to do things, lest something bad happen to her."
a slight grin.
"I know about that sister dearest she has. which is why I had requested hers as well. but a runemage has to have a runic circle to work with, don't they? that telltale sign someone is about to do something showing up on the floor. at least something this complicated. with thier blood, I don't need thier body to be anywhere near me if this pans out."
getting himself up and going through a drawer, and picking out a little book.
"I have been planning to move against Mahlari for a little bit now. however, with the crest brigade and this truce all around, that makes it very difficult. but, with the recent actions against my father in law, I have some specific terms of retaliation. I can claim a single act of rebuttal for her action."
a slight flipping through pages.
"this applies to family members acted upon by someone else of another kingdom. the idea is to allow retribution without sparking blood feuds. granted, the Crest has kind of supplanted this old rule. but that doesn't mean I can't claim it and say 'gee, I didn't know it was so outdated.' and since it doesn't specify exactly what kind of action and what kind of rebuttal, that leaves it open for me to say her assault that lead to Kieran cutting his hair is her action and my rebuttal is doing exactly what I plan to do."
looking at Sevilin.
"Mahlari tried to deny me my right of vengence as a fiance' and a lover to Piper. she tried to play games. and I take the wellbeing of my family very seriously. She took pleasure in trying to provoke and belittle me in Council. and now she assaults my father in law to the point that apparently they are forbidden to be anywhere near eachother under the Brigade's orders."
"And as such...I'm going to make her learn, and remember, that me and mine, even across planes, are not to be trifled with. especially by a woman with delusions of grandeur."
then a look to Zahara.
"He does that. he goes after her, and I swear right now by Innoruuk and any god that might listen I will personally go to Andal, get the Rainsongs, Silvercrests, and Swiftfeathers...bring then here, and destroy that entire plane. I'll activate the runics with Mahlari's damned soul and Khavier's blood after I leech every drop of it from his still screaming mummyl-like undead corpse."

A look to Zahara as she wrapped an arm around him and he casually rested a hand on her shoulder in comfort. Though she was a brave woman he had to admit, mentioning something like that to Malik, knowing that he was entirely on the extreme side of the scale when it came to his absent wife.
But Malik...that was an interesting idea, and though yes it was jsutified...Sevilin still worried. Maybe not for the plane, screw the plane, but for equal retribution that would spark back and forth...and he knew of five women who would just love to see him again...that was his main thing to get from Khaiver actually...if they knew. "You're going to target on the blood and not the person? Quite the abitious notion...if possible. Though I dare say you are causing perhaps more trouble than you need. Guilty by association if you will."
He twitched his ears, looking over at his father covertly again...well that didn't sound like happy things at all...how come everytime something good seemed to come, something worse came with it...and it sounded like it had something to do with the family itself now...not happy.

Zahara's mouth dropped open and she glanced at the children then walked over and took the history book from them. "Zykariel, take Malikhai and go play in our room, okay? You can finish your history later." She waited until the boys were gone and then turned on Malik getting right up in his personal space. "You don't think before you speak, do you Malik? You just get on this 'I want blood' throwing a fit like my son did when he was two and I wouldn't give him a cookie. It sounds to me like you are pulling things out of your a** because you want to see Mahlari suffer. I understand that but you cannot go spouting off like that in front of the children. They repeat things they hear!" she hissed. "You heard Zykariel talk about my habits and the way I feel about Sevilin coming out in blood. Now stop being a baby and get over yourself. If you want to hurt Mahlari fine, but don't you dare say anything in those regards in front of those kids. Khaiver is not stupid and I have no doubt that he'll find a way to get the information he wants. Piper would have your a** nailed to the walls the way you're so fond of claiming if she heard you scared her son like that! So do us all a favor and...SHUT UP!:" She spun on her heel and slammed out of the room then went into the other room with the boys, walking over and lifting Malikhai into her arms. She knew he wasn't a happy elf and she could hardly blame him. Patting the bed for Kariel to come sit as well as she rocked the little elf. "You alright Malikhai?"

Malik's eyes shone like daggers at Zahara's little tirade, but he remained quiet. his fist did clench though, and had he not been keeping a tigh rein on himself, he probably would have backfisted her.
Yes, malik wanted to see Mahlari suffer. mostly it was a minor grudge, but since Piper left his defensive mode went into overdrive toward family. if a slave right now so much as made his son upset by saying 'no' he'd probably have thier tongue cut out.
"Khavier doesn't concern me right now. I know where he is. he's an assassin, not a runemage."
settling back down on his bed and gripping malvolence, before getting himself back up.
"If malikhai needs to see me, or if you or zahara want me, just call. I'll hear you."
and malik stormed downstairs, went to one of his gladiators, and proceeded to feed his sword. once done, the bloody mess of what used to be a human was fed to the droag. one of the benifits to being the master was getting to let out anger and agression on other people without fear of retaliation.

And he was the one left standing there, as match met powder keg and well...explosions happened. Zahara on her instincts always made her more knee jerk reaction and since she'd given into the whole motherhood thing, she couldn't stand seeing any of those children upset. Malik, he was just all out of his normals, what with Piper gone and no doubt the constant state of worry he was in and on top of that he had not only himself to soothe of the negative thoughts, but Malikhai as well. Couldn't be easy. Since when did he become the neutral party? Oh right....Piper was gone and he was passive in nature.
Sevilin gave a sigh and left Malik and Piper's room, pulling the door shut behind himself. Good lord what were they going to do with those two. "Damn surface elf better get done quick and come back. They're liable to knock the place down around our ears." Now...had to find out where Khaiver would be staying...and thusly keep as far away as possible from that location.
Uh oh, now the grownups were gonna get angry at each other...they usually did when they were told to leave rooms...hey they weren't stupid, they understood tones. And Malikhai understood bonds, so he even had the deeper understanding...daddy was upset. Very very upset...more upset than when Malikhai got into something that he shouldn't be in. It was the almost scary upset, but he wasn't scared of his father seeing as he knew he'd never hurt him. A little surprised when he was picked up and more or less cuddled by the woman who usually didn't pass them out. "Daddy's angry, I don't like it." Scartching at his hair, which look just like it was for that but it was more of indication that those rocks were grinding together in his head again.

"We're fine."
Fin was puffing out his cheeks and grabbing at his through until Leaf elbowed him in the gut.
Again as they traversed down the hallway they saw more and more of the white stone, although that hardly seemed significant. It also looked like the pillars were scrapped, and in some spots a light greenish ooze dribbled down as if a large beast had passed through and torn at their sides.
"For an air temple, this place needs some airing out." Fin twtiched his nose.
