"come in then and tell me about it. I've noticed the guards have taken it upon themselves to increase thier patrols as well."
while picking up and looking over the math book, and running his finger down it looking over answers with a pencil and circling those that were incorrect. though the sound of sevilin's voice siad it was something fairly important that needed to be dealt with.

Leaf and FIn both laid on their stomachs and peered over the edge to watch Piper discend. "Lots of rope yet, keep moving." Impressive that she moved without needing a support around her waist, at the very least.
They had enough from...until about ten feet to the bottom. Not a long jump, but if you were inexperianced it would be a painful drop.
Being elves, the would all be fine. However, the cravas was deep and dark, and offered very little light for fin and leaf to find their way.
"How does it look down there? Is the drop safe?"

Did he just blow her off? He did. He gave her a c**k and bull answer about an uninvited guest and ordered her off to occupy herself. She glared daggers at his back but the tone of his voice told her he wasn't playing. Mother's instincts kicked in and she hurried into the room they were currently sharing, watching him disappear into Malik's. Her little boy was still in reverie though she knew she needed to get him up soon or he'd never go back down at a reasonable hour. Leaning down she gently pressed a kiss to his forehead, then shook his shoulder. "Kariel? Come on baby, wake up." Ten minutes later she had him dressed for the day, his hair brushed and braided, boots tied and the bed made. She fielded all questions about the various things that children tended to ask at the beginning of the day and then led him into Malik's room.
He was still sleepy but the sight of his friend perked him up slightly. He waved and gave a drowsy grin before burying his head against his mother's leg. He could tell that Malikhai was doing work and that meant he couldn't play yet so he left him alone. "What's goin' on?"

Covertly, or at least what he thought was covertly, he kept his pencil to his book, but let his eyes wander up to watch Malik and Sevilin as well as let his ears tune into them. Hey, he wasn't beyond eavesdropping, you learn a lot of useful things when you do that.
One of two things was going on with Malik, one he didn't know, or two he didn't care...then again there was always the possibility of the latter occuring anyway. Pushing open the door, he stepped into the room...okay more of stalked in. "I was under the impression that you covered tracks when you came back here from thhat god forsaken plane, or some little piece of surface trash didn't mind thier tongue. We have a visitor...I believe you're familiar with him. Mahlari is oh so fond of him..." Nope, not a happy Sevilin on any level right now.
Okay wait time over. Slipping off his rock he tapped the toes of his boots to make sure they were on good before he started in strides toward the fortress. Of course upon coming in that threat range he did hold up his hands to show that he indeed wasn't carrying a weapon...at least nothign that was threatening and visible at the same time. After all...he wasn't out to cause that kind of trouble for hismelf.
Hm, father was right...being a dual blooded elf wasn't so bad. Being a moon elf even with her vision abilities not acitvated her sight in dark places was a little better then other elves, and the wood elven side ability to climb surely wherever or however was a blessing in this case. Oh look the ground...and lack of rope. No big deal, hang at the end of the rope only made for a five food drop when body length was added, five feet wouldn't break ankles. The she dropped herself down, giving a look around for the moment...after all, it was a crack in the underdark, things lived in those. But a look back up to Fin and Leaf as they were peering down at her. "Dark, kinda foreboding...you know, normal. And the drop isn't so bad if you hang down first. Should be fine."

A glance up and closing the math book.
"I covered my tracks, and Piper was quite mindful of her tongue. But that doesn't mean that someone else didn't give out information for a price. or that gates weren't watched when a certain elf went topside with a rainsong."
his eyes narrowed slightly.
"the Ravenwings know about this place. thier son came looking for Piper, remember. a vengeful father or grieving mother might have sold information with a promise of vengence. So the chaindog has come to call. an assassin so magic won't hamper him too much. Suggestions? should we have him detained and eliminated?"
the guards watched him, and the ogres in particular paid a great mind.one had his hammer ready, the other a chained meathook.
"Buisness?"
no, they weren't about to let him pass into the proximity of thier masters home yet. had he not sat and watched, he might have gotten away with it. but the sitting and watching marked him as a scout to someone else or assessing for weaknesses, thus a potential threat.

"Wood elves are skitish, one wouldn't be that bold. Though I know a few moon elves who are less than careful." If Kieran had any part in it, he'd break the damn royal's legs. Or even that little Rainsong thing. "And if Arthur has any part in this...I'll break his damn neck, you know that now." Obviously Sevilin had a serious issue with this. After all...him and Khaiver had history.
Though a pause to consider options. After all, If Khaiver knew, a certain someone else did two...adn her sister. And thus...could tell a certain family things that he didn't want them to know. "Unfortunelately I have no suggestions....I know Khaiver can best me...that's what happens when you face the ones who trained you, they know all the holes and there are things they never taught you. Don't think you can kill him easy either..." Though he really really didn't want Khaiver around wither...detention implied he would be in some way.
He withdrew a scroll from a nelt pouch. "Well, two forms honeslty. One, have this to deliver to D'vinn, and no, I must place it in his hand myself, no one else can give it to him. And second...well an old friend of mine lives here, he owes me an explaination among other things. No weapons, I assure you." And apparently it was possible for him to ware an friendly smile...creepy.

"and killing him sets the woman holding his leash on alert as well. I seriously doubt arthur had any direct involvement other than simply coming to the surface with Isle and Kieran."
a tap on his chin.
"Magic may be gone, but we still have access to it. which means he'll be expecting, if push comes to shove, many of our powers to be void. so we have an upperhand in surprise there. but sending the chaindog implies this isn't something for violence. his mistress could send much less valuable or prized toys for that."
a glance at sevilin.
"I imagine there's something going on in andal and his mistress wants something from me. and I'm sure Khavier wants to know how you became a master runemage under his nose. but they know that I consider you part of my house. acting out against you will result in me getting involved. and even the chaindog I doubt could handle what I can throw at him alone. numbers after all, are definately in our favor."
The ogres looked at eachother. then the hammer holder put his hammer down, and looked at Khavier.
"note in belt and belt off. check."
they gave him time to put the note away..and probably enough time to take it off, before the other picked him up, turned him over and shook him to see if anything sharp and pointy clinked in a scabbard or fell off him. ogres weren't exactly known for being proper or delicate.

Okay, Zahara was done playing around. She wanted to see this guy and see him now. And she had a reason to go out there too, even keep from being seen if she was careful and Kariel stayed quiet. She shushed her son and kept listening then picked him up and left the room. "We're going to go play spies. Do you remember how to do that?"
"When you gotta be real quiet and pretend you are somebody else to get information or save somebody? That kinda spy?"
She set him down and ruffled his hair, then took his hand again. "That kind of spy exactly. We're going to see...someone special. Daddy knows him." thus she led the child around to the back door and outside moving around the fortress to see this stranger. She blinked when she saw the drow being literally shaken and upside down at that.
"Mommy." Tugging on her skirt. "I don't think Daddy would be happy to see his friend like that...."

His ears twitched. Oh that seemed bad...really bad. Was more bad coming? He frowned in that almost about to cry way...why did more bad have to happen...first magic, them mommy, now everything else...steadily getting more and more upset for him, of course kicking at bonds. Though he did sideglance Zahara as she left with Zykariel.
"Yes, these would be the problems." At least Malik was still on the same page. "Just a warning to you about your other little surface plaything." He may not insult Piper anymore, but Arthur was still fair game...besides, Arthur owed him a life debt, he was allowed to do such things as make him miserable. "Just have to watch for him sensing what we have on us...after all we are quite literally carrying magic in our pockets.
"Then again you did do things that could piss the woman off...she's quite easy to do that too..." But he crossed his arms over his chest. No, he still wasn't satisfied if they had numbers or not or of how confident Malik thought he was...Khaiver was just one of the partners you didn't dance with. "I'm sure he's here for a lot...and part of your house or not means nothing between me and him." He had a good idea what Khaiver had against him.
"So then, what are we doing...and I would indeed like to know if you're letting him in here because I need to go into overly paranoid mode...been a while since I've had no constant magic."
Oh fine, he'd let them have thier check...he sighed annoyedly in his head as he did what was requested...then frowned as his world waspromptly turned upside down and given an earthquake test. Hold the temper...hold the temper. Though nothing more than a link stone, a sack of terra bud drops, and a few pieces of amber and some little metal cubes fell out of his pockets. That was not pleasing. "Hm...well...isn't that just like an ogre....are we done?"

the other one picked up the linkstone, looked at it, and put it in a pocket, though left it in plain sight. the rest was left. for the drow to get himself. after he was placed on his feet again.
"done. audience. follow."
so they led Khavier into the building, and into the audience room, though stood guard quite ready.
"Yes. he's here to barter or to inform. however he's not leaving the audience room without escort. by me or three breakers. and it better mean something to him. I have no love for Khavier...and I would love to make sure he went home crippled for life. magic in our pockets is hardly something one cna sense without knowing what thier looking for."
a small smile.
"It's how illusionists hide thier hidden talents when they have to. but it's moot point. Khavier can't counter runics, so even if he does know you have it, there's nothing he can do about it. want to join me in seeing our guest?"

That was not a pleasant experience at all, but he merely cleared his throat, picked up the items that fell from his pockets, and then smoothed his clothing some and tapped his boot tips again. Definately not pleasant. "Short worded on any plane, aren't you?" Wasn't afraid of these guys was he? Nope, thus he merely followed into the audience chamber of sorts and stood there casually as he waited. Hey he was in no rush.
Seviling gave a snicker. "You can entertain Khaiver on your own. You may have no love for him, but I have even less and would rather stay away from him..." Did not need past history to make itself an ugly scene here...even if he knew Khaiver wouldn't be leaving without a 'talk'. But a look to the about to cry looking little elf on the bed. "You go play, I'll watch your son." And find his own, where had that woman traipsed off to?

Zahara watched the ogres and their treatment of the uninvited guest and waited for them to turn him right side up. Of course even then she didn't get a good look at him though he was definitely drow. Dark skin, white hair, red eyes or so she thought. Zykariel was too sluggish for her purposes so she lifted the child, bracing him against her hip and followed them inside. She paused in the hallway outside the audience room then thought it might be better if she wasn't around when Malik came down. She moved into the main foyer by the stairs and merely stood there waiting. Things were going to get interesting very soon.

A look at his son with a slight grin.
"alright, I'll deal with Khavier, and you get this little devil of mine."
walking over to his son, and mussing his hair.
"Everything is fine, no bad things right now. just a little work for me to do that came in unannounced. mind sevilin, and do your work. oh...and you only missed three on the math. double check those, but you did real good. I'll be back soon."
and heading downstairs to his audience chamber, smirking lightly at Khavier.
"what a pleasent surprise. I didn't think your mistress knew how to get here. but do tell me why she sent her precious chaindog down to my end of the darkness?"

He nodded rather kicked puppy like and watched his father go before turning his look to Sevilin. It was easy enough to be minded by anyone when he was actually behaving. But he took his math book and merely looked at the one's he had gotten wrong, and wrote them out again, going about trying to do them again and getting a new answer this time. he'd just cling more later.
Good thing he was patient and used to standing for long periods of time. Otherwise he'd probably be a whiny guest. But he turned and gave Malik one of those creepy peaceful smirks of his, followed by a chuckle. "Ah prompt as always D'vinn." Feining surprise slightly then, "Oh...I thought you knew rune mages can track and plot planes...you were grand company for that." What? Malik thought their little talk in the woods was drawn out for nothing? Mahlari's sister had been ever effective.
Though a little frown, shaking his head lightly. "Come now, I didn't call you names. Look at me, not even baring a single weapon...no need to attack me D'vinn." But he pulled out the scroll...or rather the first one he had...he knew better than to show all his cards to stupid ogres. "First, Queen Mahlari sends you this...a formal insult back to you for the one you gave her. She's much not pleased with you and your tricks." Take it easy, no need to wear out his welcome.

And a gloved hand took the first scroll with a light chuckle.
"should have known better than to think my little display would have got you sent out alone. a formal insult, eh? which insult is this one for? the runing in the council? or one of the other ones?"
a smirk.
"Alright, Khavier. no need to be offended. at least that little insight will prevent me from having to go to andal and question kaden's family. So, second?"
while taking a look at the formal insult of course.
