*Melliandra watches Sato down the alcohol out of the corner of her eye* Aren't you going to share? *She murmers, before turning her attention to Luke once more*
Ohh, a few times now. *She resheathes her sword as he hands it back to her* Though I haven't managed to kill any of him. Yet.

*Luke sends a quick, but strained smile to Sato. He nods to Mel and says.* G'ahead. Oblige the lady. You said you knew Tavin outside of here. How do you know them?
*Luke looks over briefly at Cora. She looked pissed, but she appeared to be listening as well. He focused back on Melliandra.*

*Melliandra pouts a little in Sato's direction* Oh come now, at least pour me some wine. *She grins, patting her neck* Else my throat is bound to get parched.
*Perching on one of the barstools and leaning an elbow on the counter, she makes herself comfortable before speaking to Luke again* I do believe I told you - I met Tavin when he saved my life. Really, it was downright heroic of him. As for the Seraphim . .. *she pauses suddenly*
Didn't we have a bargain about this? Something you had to do before I'd give you honest answers ... *she taps her chin, brow furrowed almost comically* What was it now ... ?

*When Luke laughed, it was an odd, off-beat sort of laughter. If he hadn't laughed, he just might have hauled back and decked her one.* We've been over that, and if I recall, I didn't agree to it.
Right now, I am the last person that you want to fist-fight with. *He glances to Cora and says.* Or at least, next to last.
Besides. *points to Sato* She asked for the story first.

When I'm the one with the information, and you're the one flicking bottlecaps around, it doesn't really matter whether you agree to it or not, now does it? *Melliandra points out in amusement*
*She reaches over for the wine glass* But since Sato did ask, and was kind enough to pour me a drink ... *she winks at her, takes a slow drink, licks her lips* I suppose I won't hold you to it.

*Luke narrows his eyes at Sato. She was helping him out. He makes eye contact with her ... Was she with him on this? ... After catching her grin, Luke returns a muted smile.*
*Luke looks to Melliandra, eyebrows raised, and waves his arm to Sato silently. As if to say "What can I do? She wants to know."*

*Melliandra shakes her head at the pair of them, chuckling* I'm afraid it's not nearly as fascinating a tale as you might hope. I have an unusual amount of power, from an unusual source. That in and of itself draws attention. *She takes another sip* And on top of that, I'd crossed paths with Tavin.
You've seen how well those two get along. Is it so surprising then that the Seraphim sought me out? *She lifts her eyes skyward in brief annoyance and mutters* Repeatedly.
*She smirks* Or that I might be inclined to try and stick something sharp in him?

An excellent question! *Mell sets her glass down for Sato as she refills it* Two answers come to mind.
One, *she holds up her index finger* He hasn't killed me, because he can't.
Two, *she holds up the next finger alongside the first* He hasn't killed me, because he doesn't want me dead.
Rather intriguing, either way ...

*There was a lot of information getting to Luke. Despite the circumstances, he found himself grateful. The Seraphim attacked whoever was near Tavin, whether they were in the Brink or if he met them outside of the Brink. Melliandra had powers from an "unusual source". That only made sense, from what Luke had seen of her. Made sense about the artifact then, too.*
*So now that I've met Tavin ... how long does it last? Has anyone ever found a way out? When we figure out a way to fight the Seraphim, will it stop there? Luke pushes all those thoughts from his mind, but it takes some effort.*
