Piper half smiled. "I suppose it is. Though sometimes its more stressing than anything...worrying about someone can be quite the task." And some, like Malik, worried just far to much to unhealthy levels. It all depended she really guessed. Another look over to Leaf from injuries and Piper gave a blink. There was a question now wasn't it? "Well, it's not that I don't like you...it's just that I'm...uncomfortable with you." Reason being hidden under her bandana, but she wasn't going to say that. "I suppose I'm just...slow to warm up to others." A pause and a blink. "Do I seem too harsh or cold with you two?"

She nodded with a far away look. She worried over her people, but she did not think it was the same thing, nor did she believe she would ever really understand.
"Uncomfortable. With your own people?" Then a look out into the black (the mosses where enarly dead by this point). "Particularily. Although granted, I have not known you very long, save for whispers of reputation through the peninsula."
"I am used to it, if it bothers you. There are not many who like us Purians. Our very name indicates a beliefe in our own superior being, although that is untrue."

She shrugged as if it wasn't a big deal. "Well, I'm a mixed blooded elf, what my people call a Bridge Elf. There was a time when they weren't regarded as they are now, and well...I used to make stupid decisions." Yeah let's give a little but not give too much. Piper gave a sigh, "I'm just not used to being around anyone other than my family I guess, and I highly doubt that you can think well of me, I know the way they speak of D'vinns on the peninsula." Yeah, she could see how this was a tad awkward. "I've never thought badly of the purians, contrary to what you may think."

Leaf did not pry, she didn't do that kind of thing. "Fair enough."
She also shrugged. "We speak more amoung ourselves of the blue skinned one. I do not form much of an oppinion of the man, and I know he is your husband." She paused, sounding as if she were going to say more, decided against it. Perhaps she did not feel like discussing polotics when the subject had been exaughsted amoung her people.
Fin chuckled, speaking from the background and not expecting to be replied to. "We're delusional fenatics bent on regaining the surface, what need have we of aliance?"
Leaf mearly looked at her fellow purian, then turned back to Piper. "That is comforting then. No one likes to think they are hated, no matter how unimportant they may be."

"Well, that's understandable...Malik is harsh in his ways sometimes. You can't ever really know him unless he allows you to." Hey there was no denying it now was there? Nope there wasn't, just a fact that had to be dealt with and perhaps could be made better...Malik had been improving in his PR after all. But a nod at Leaf's comment and a half smile. "You're right, no one does, depite what they might think or say, they want at least on person to give a damn about them...in the positive sense of course."

"Of course." From her pack, she drew out some elven bread, the flat sturdy kind that didn't really have muhc taste but gave you a fair bit of energy. She handed a chunk to Fin and Piper before taking some for herself.
"That can be said for all of us, then."
She paused in her chewing. "Perhaps I speak too much of late, but bear with me one more question. You seemed to be close to the Oracle, and I have wondered. Has she always been so frail? She was in much pain, I believe, the last that we saw her."

She took the offered piece and looked at it a moment before nibbling on it some. A taste was one that was familiar and not unwelcome. And she took a moment to think on Leaf's question. "Well...I suppose, but on different levels. Though one could also consider her much stronger than weaker at the same time. That woman's resolve can be something that can pull anyone from the brink of anything." A slight shake of her head. "What type of pain?" Giving a slightly concerned look.

Leaf looked concerned for a moment, blieveing that Piper had already known this. "I did not mean frail as her personality, I refer to the great lengths she went to try and conceal her discomfort."
"She must care ofr you deeply, if hse did not want you to see her in such a state."
She sighed as she ate her bread. "Physical pain. Her insides reak havok on her, it seemed..." How did Leaf know this? Perhaps a lifetime of watching people in pain.

Malik regarded his son for a moment. hmm.
"what I want to do is something that cannot be done, for the safety of others. I want to cause someone a great deal of pain. the one who is responsible for your mother having to do this little 'quest'. But since I can't do that, if there is something you'd like, we can do that."
Ramoth came back home, with her saddlebags empty save the mapping and notes for father and son. but she moved to her own stall, and waited there. Ramoth was no stranger to battle, and to injury. she knew that piper was worse off than her minor speech, and she was going to make sure her partner, as she would never consider anyone her owner, knew about it.

Piper was the one to look guilty now. After all, she knew that she was probably a cause of a great amount of stress in Meilikki's life right now. And she also knew what stress did to a body, and she supposed that it would be even worse on a human body, inside and out alike. "Meilikki...reminds me somewhat of a mother. A woman who must set aside her own discomforts and such, to present herself as one for others to turn to for thier own strength." Meilikki was indeed quite a woman...and she was starting to regret being so harsh with her days prior...but Piper had been hurting too. She just wasn't as good as tucking those feelings away as the former oracle was. "I probably seem ungreatful to her in your eyes, don't I? She's done a lot for me, and I've been less than hospitable to her of late..." Yeah, feeling guilty.
And here came the moral code that his mother had instilled in him. Malikhai tilted his head at his half namesake and father. His father had made it a point to never really dumb anything down for him. He would tell him the truth, as far as Malikhai knew, and more or less treated him as if the child had a higher understanding. Which at his age, perhaps he did being elven. Time for discussion!
"Mommy said you shouldn't hurt people just because you're angry with them for something. Like how I'm not supposed to hit Zykariel if he acciedently trips me and I get angry at him for it." Oh yes it was going to be a moment of child logic that had some sense of serendipity for Malik perhaps. But a tilt of his head, trying to make sense of his father's words. "Is it okay to hurt someone, if who they're hurting is like mommy?" Of course 'like mommy' was a rather broad term. Wife, mother, woman, surface elf, young, one who was paying back a debt...quite a bit indeed. But he wanted to understand why his father would contradict his mother on such a point.

"That would explain her efforst in concealing such things from you. Perhaps I sohuldn't ahve said anything." She chewed the rebad slowly, not looking at anyone or anything in particular.
Leaf shrugged. "Even if that were judgement, it would hardley matter. I don't know you, I don't know the Oracle. Emotions are strange and difficult to rule, they take us beyond what we might normally do or say."
"I am sure the Oracle know sthat as well, and if she is close to you as a mother, then she would hold nothing agianst you for such things."
Yeah, too much talking. Her voice was even strated to get a little gruff. And through this exchange, her expression stayed the same. She didn't smile, never frowned. Like the muscles in her face didn't work.

Oh sore in so many places...and she was sure she had sprained her ankle on that run up the stairs out of the stupid fire temple. Speaking of temples, her attention turned back to Leaf...seemed she was growing weary of conversation, might as well get answers now. "So then...which direction and how far shall we be going from here?"

"Another two hundred miles to the east of our current position. Remote and desolate, I believe."
Fin handed her a map. "The map is vauge, I do not know what we will encounter. Again."
Fin shrugged. "Air, water and ether left. The ether temple will be the worst, and the last. So it's either water or air."

Finishing off her bread she reached over and took the map, giving it a look over. Vague was right....but it would be easy to fill in terrain markings, any water there was, a good landmark or two...that's what she had been doing thus far. "Two hundred hm? Keeps getting farther and farther...it may take us a bit longer to get that far. Serino was weary by the time we reached our last desitination." Piper considered the information that had been given to her...both would be trials...which it seemed Malik had given them equipment to make thier lives easier...at lest they'd be able to breath no matter where they went. She assumed they'd either be doing a lot of jumping or swimming too. Though a surprised looked up at Leaf at the mention of a fifth temple. "Ether temple..." Who knows that they would contain...then again wasn't the compliment of that one the one that Fin and Leaf didn't like to talk about? "Well, I'm sure we'll get a better idea of which one is next as the terrain will change. No doubt air will be closer to the ceiling and water under the waters here...hm, we're going to need a working source of light...and all the moss is almost dead so that's no use..."

Malik leaned back a bit, carefully considering his answer.
"This is a situation in which the difference in the world piper comes from and the world I come from is glaringly apparent. while it is not okay to punch someone or hurt someone for an accidental thing. like Zykariel tripping you while your both running around or such, this is different."
"If someone is hurting someone else, then yes, using force is alright. if another kid were for example, hitting Zykariel, I wouldn't be upset if you hit them in zykariel's defense. in others, it is someone in power using that power to harm others, then force is okay in the realm I come from. beating up a pirate, doesn't stop the captain from sending more of his crew, does it. but beating up the captain stops him sending more thugs."
"It is my opinion that the oracle forced piper into the agreement she is currently out trying to fufill using underhanded tactics. she knew the consequences if piper didn't get my medicine, but made piper agree to that promise anyway. which makes me angry and want to hurt her. but, like we said, the oracle isn't forcing piper, she isn't sending things to hurt her. Piper is doing the right thing to keep her promise. so while I may be angry and want to hurt her, it's not right for me to do so, so I won't."
