Piobaireachd What sig? And orignially it was for the sake of RPing. People only want to RP with guys. I was sick of everyone assuming that males were the only literates and the only ones who could play male characters. So I joined a couple RPs with my 'manly' chars to prove the point. Thing is they wouldn't have let me join if they knew. I guess I was too confrontational to let it go. And at some point I got sick of correcting people and expecting the people I was RPing with not to figure it out. The rest I'm not going to get into just now. I've not seen that sort of discrimination anywhere I've been on Gaia, yet, but I'm not actively RPing on the forums, either. However, I've seen a lot of cross gender avis...for both purposes...RPing and mule-ing. No one's had any bones about the women and young ladies I know playing as men on the site. Most of the women are open about it, or they waste no time in letting those of us who don't think to ask know. So I'm assuming you hit some ugly jerks. Of course, I'm familiar with the "zomg it's a real woman RPer" and what that entails...I still get the "dude, you ...blah, blah, blah..." when I play EQ, and did when I played CoH, too. I just correct them and go on about my business. I play female avatars, and you'd think they'd say hey are you a guy or a girl when they start talking to you if they can't figure it out, but they don't. Very few people are that observant. I think the point you proved here, though, is that you are what you say you are in a forum. Most of us are going to trust that you are who you say you are...and that's different from RP by a large degree. Especially since this is not an RP guild, like the one you indicated you had something to prove to. Sadly, it's also the reason people get attached to someone who isn't what they seem. And I think you did a good job of that. Fortunately, no one was hurt...not in any real way.

But trust me, you don't know how much I fretted over this, even from the beginning, because I've been hurt myself, by being lied to. I almost just quit the guild to avoid hurting anyone, but I thought you all deserved to know the truth. The night I told my thread regulars and friends on gaia, I made myself sick worrying that they wouldn't understand, that they'd hate me. They all understood and a few of them turned out to be in the same position. Their kindness and understanding nearly made me cry. But I did my best to ensure that no one would become too attatched. I was myself, except physically, which none of you saw anyway.
Again I apologize but I won't dwell on guilt belatedly.
I don't immediately assume anyone is the gender of their avi. I may address them as such, but I don't believe it until they tell me.

At least I know I am on the right subject, Well to tell you the truth i really don't care if you are gay/ straight girl/guy playing the oppiset sex or not if you are interesting to talk with and are forgiving on some spelling mistakes, then I don't have a problem being your friend or being some one to just talk to either way it doesn't matter to me. Your happy thats all that matters, and as far as the rping thing goes, you should meet my daughter, she loves to rp with any one,for as long as she can biggrin

It's not really important to me if someone is male or female. At least not for the purposes of friendly conversation. Usually when I'm online I assume everyone is gender neutral...
