"Good then. after breakfast we'll go to the arena. I've made sure that the back former slave areas have been converted into a makeshift barracks but no others are staying in the area. so we shouldn't have to worry about large crowds or people."

taking to eating his breakfast.

"We got some word from Piper. seems that when she completes this task, our powers will get restored. So hopefully it won't be too long."
PostPosted: Fri Feb 23, 2007 6:27 pm

Sevilin watched teh children for a moment, who had engaged in a mini trying not to be obvious competition of who could eat thier food the fastest without making a mess or thinking anyone knew what they were doing. Trying to snarf without looking like snarfing in other words.

Breakfast? Not for him...then again it was common for him to skip meals. Though no one tell Zahara that or he'd get lectured like a toddler. Sure, he knew his eating patterns and habits were unhealthy, but old ways died hard. "Good...I hate crowds." Crowds, small spaces, poisonous things, water....the list got ever longer didn't it?

"Really now...that's an interesting piece of information. Hopefully your surface elf is as efficent as you think she is. I don't know about you, but I feel like a walking coma ever since the magic drained out...I'm surprised I can function on some level of normalcy...and yet I still catch myself trying to use runes."

"She's quite efficent when she wants to be."

though he finished with his meal and let the servants take to cleaning, before waiting on the boys. after all they had to finish thier meals as well.

"You know Zahara is going to kill us both if someone gets so much as a scratch."

a slight grin over to sevilin at that. then a more serious look.

"I feel like half of me is missing. like I've been stripped of a sense as important as sight or hearing. and it's driving me crazy. but at least it should be taken care of soon enough."
PostPosted: Fri Feb 23, 2007 7:15 pm

"You know if you say that another way it could almost be taken as something sweet you're saying about Piper. Who knew you could be so romantic Malik?" A brief pause. "And what are we going to be doing that's involving possiblitiles of scratches?" Zahara asked coming into the kitchen and very calmly setting an omelette down in front of Sevilin. She wasn't stupid and the kitchen staff ratted him out every time. She ruffled her son's hair and then sat down with a glass of juice before raising an eyebrow at the four males.

Zykariel was excited, he was going to get to practice his brand new polearm and Daddy was gonna show him how because Daddy knew what he was doing. He glanced up at Mommy for a moment and then giggled guiltily. "Nothing..."

"Selectively efficent." Hey, even Sevilin know that Piper was like that...if she wanted to so something she would and if she didn't it was halfassed. But a nod as he crossed his arms lightly, turning a look to Malik once more. "Most likely..." None to thrilled look at that. "Though...I suppose it it's scratches with no blood, she can't be too fussy at with us. Children fall down and such."

But a nod of his head. "A lot of you is missing. No magic, no wife, no defenses, no warnings....incessant state of chaos until further notice. Personally I don't think it can be taken care of soon enough for my liking...I can feel the insane creepy up on me again..." Which was bad. "Can definately relate though..." A slight pat to his tunic where one drained ferret was resting. But a blink and a look over to see Zahara...who set food in front of him. Damn it, should of made it look like he had eaten something. "Weapons and armor training."

"I'm done!" The child chiding in and showing his plates before jumping down from chair and toddling to Malik, giving pulls and tugs. "Please? I'm clean! Look!"

"I can be quite romantic when I want to be. just not that you ever see it. or anyone else in this house does either for that matter."

before looking down at his son and taking his hands and a look at them, front and back, and his cheeks.

"Alright you're clean. go get into your armor like I showed you and come back here. then we'll head down to the arena."

not to mention it would help his learning to move in it. then a look to Zahara, and a shake of his head slightly.

"We got a letter from piper this morning. no major injuries or the like, one part of her journey is complete. and a map so we can find her if the need arises."

Zahara so badly wanted to protest, her son was just too young to be learning any such thing...but she knew he wasn't. Hell by his age she slept with a dagger under her pillow and could easily gut anyone she pleased. Children made great assassins after all, they were at the perfect height. So she kept her thoughts and worries to herself and sipped her juice then nodded. "I've heard stories from Piper. She likes to go on about you." One worry checked off in her mind. Piper was okay. "Good to know. She say anything about how much longer she's going to be gone?"

Zykariel tagged off after his friend since his armor was in the same place as his buddies and then they could help each other if the need arose.

He begrudingly ate the breakdfast she had plopped in front of him, knowing he wasn't going to get away with not doing so. And as he told Malik he felt like he was a walking coma, and didn't have the enery to even think about an argument with her right now. Hell, he didn't want to fight with her at all at this point. A look over to Malik. "Assuming she's in parts of this place neither of us have been, that's horribly convient to have completed maps."

And off with them like a flash. It was cute to watch two children donning armor that they weren't quite sure how it worked and all but figured it out with enough trial and error. Sure enough, Zykariel's had been put where he was sure to find it and Malikhai knew where to find his. Too the two a good fifteen minutes to get Malikhai armored up and Zykariel properly plopped into chainmail so that it wouldn't shift or throw his weight too much. "Our weapons will be downstiars. Come on." Thus the two heading back downstairs to respective parents...though that took another five minutes when it should of taken forty five seconds at most. He was getting better at this moving in it thing.

"apparently she learned her cartography skills from Kieran. So I can imagine she'd been working on it while they were on the trail before this rest stop they apparently have come to. As to how much longer...that's anyone's guess. sooner rather than later."

then a look over as both boys made thier appearance in armor, getting himself up and walking over to his son, readjusting some small parts so movement would be easier.

"As soon as Sevilin finishes eating, since Zahara caught him, we'll go down there."

A look at Zahara.

"you want to join us? or do you have something else that needs to be taken care of?"
PostPosted: Fri Feb 23, 2007 10:58 pm

Zahara nodded, "Sooner rather than later is definitely what we're hoping for." She grabbed a fork and cut a bit of Sevilin's omelette, chewing as she mulled it over. Did she want to see her son learn things? Of course seh did. But knowing he was practicing with sharp and dangerous items was a bit hard to swallow. "Yes, I'll come if only to keep you two from pushing them too hard."Glancing up as the boys came in teh room. Aww weren't they just too cute?

Zykariel tugged on his father. "Come on Daddy, you can eat faster than that. I wanna go..."

"Right right." It never took Sevilin too long to finish food...he had just been lagging because he was irritated from being caught...which Malik so kindly pointed out. But there, plate clean and he got himself up, looking his son over, checking the fit of his chainmail and all. Damn good craft. Satisfied he took the boy's hand. "Alright, we can go now. Remember, this isn't play..." Nope, not play at all.

He let his father check him over, pleased that not too many adjustments had to be made to his person. Meant he had mostly done it right. That done he latched to Malik's pant leg in normal fashion as Malik questioned Zahara. Well...at least Zykariel would have his mommy to watch him. Oh wait...that was a sad thought. He had mommy's letter tucked in his pocket...did that count?
PostPosted: Fri Feb 23, 2007 11:37 pm

"alright then."

and thus they went to the arena. Malikhai's sword was handed over to him, and a minature version of Sevilin's polearm handed over to Zykariel.

"Alright. we have some dummies set up...Malikhai, I want you to practice what you remember us going over. see how much you retain and what we might need to go back over."

A look at Sevilin.

"I'll let you teach your son, unless you'd prefer I try to remember that training I got in polearms. mostly ours were just glaives or axes used to dismount calvary."

"Just like magic it's dangerous stuff and people can get really hurt so we aren't allowed to do it unless an adult is around or we have permission first," he parroted back. "I know Daddy." He took the polearm and stood nice and tall holding it the way he'd seen his father do countless times. "All I gotta do is swing right? That's not hard."

She followed the boys and took a seat in the arena much the way she and Piper had done during magical lessons. She was playing both mothers here today, keeping an eye on Malikhai for Piper and watching her own son at the same time. Sure she trusted Sevilin but she still had her doubts...
PostPosted: Sat Feb 24, 2007 12:04 am

Zip he was off soon as he got his sword...hey he had to prove that he did indeed retain information and thus needed to show it back to gain his father's approval. Of course making sure his father could watch and correct as needed. Because one he proved competent in what he was taught before he knew he would be allowed to learn more. Though boy was this different with armor on...proving troublesome.

"I'll teach him." Thus walking over to his boy, grabbing one end of that little polearm...okay he'd admit, it was cute....so that he couldn't just swing it. "No, we don't just swing. It's more like rowing a boat." He knew the boy knew that motion...they played pirates enough and hey...that was indeed the motion. "You have to use both ends, not just one all the time...and you want the middle up to protect and block...thus it's like rowing a boat."

Grabbing a nearby staff...hey it was a polearm without the blades and handgrip, thus gave the child a slow look at what he meant and how to hold. "See, keep it up like this...then one arm out, draw the other. Switch it up. Give it a try." Work on feet once he got hands down. "You're going to feel a little heavy till you get used to that chainmail, try to ignore it."

He blinked, rowing a boat? He'd sure like to see how that was going to translate here. But soon it began to make sense why Daddy used that particular phrasing. He copied his father's movements though he ended up dropping the polearm a few times before he got the hang of it somewhat. He found that if he kept his hands towards the center, one hand could handle the weight just fine but if he grabbed too far down or something like that, well it tipped precariously. And that chainmail was heavy but he jumped up and down a few times experimentally. He grimaced down at himself. "I make noise too."
