"I have full faith in Piper handling herself. what I don't trust is the oracles terms of what is dangerous and what is not. a simple task for one is a deadly suicide mission for another."
A slight smirk.
"you'd try, you mean. you may not succeed with no runic power. but as to your son, I could probably arrange for that, but he'd need a reason, and broog is a jeweler, so rings like mine and piper seem to fit a need and symbol he can connect, and give him his reason to see Broog. would you like me to call him in and arrange that?"
Looking at his son.
"and no telling on me and sevilin for this one to him or anyone else. and I'll give you extra sword time."

"The oracle is human yes? Well...usually what is dangerous to them isnt' so much to elves...even surfave elves." Aw look, he could control his distasteful hate towards surface elves sometimes.
"I'm not helpless without my runes. Just oddly dysfunctional in daily life...hopefully I'll adapt quickly. I think I could beat you pretty badly...after all, you lack your fun little torture tactic now too. We'd at least knock each other senseless if anything." No more harm touch...hated that thing. Was good for ending fights though...not so good in feeling. He could go without. Which yes was a reason why he didn't pick fights with Malik...and well, Malik was usually on his side anyway.
But a moment to think about the ring thing. Zahara didn't have to know why she got something shiny and new, and Sevilin randomly had new things...definately would make the child associate and at least be a bit more upbeat about the state of his parents' regards to each other. And of course, if anyone knew Sevilin, they knew he did anything for his son. "You do have your point...sounds like a good idea for now. Shall I make myself scarce so his little problem seeking appears to remain secret to only you? Though I do find it amusing that he goes to you for such things."
Malikhai wasn't a concern for letting information leek...after all he was a walk away and face deep in a sandwich and having an argument with Keely about bread crust because he randomly decided that he didn't like it anymore. Then of course Zykariel decided that he too suddenly didn't like it either and well, there went Keely's sandwich distraction method until they decided that they liked it again.

"Only because she would hug him and probably give him a cookie as well." Women and thier cookie giving to small children. Sevilin crossed his arms lightly, thinking things over in his head a moment. "Catch him tomorrow at breakfast. There's no need to get him all excited at this time at night...he'd never go down. Besides, I'm sure you'll have a fight on your hands with your own about that very thing." Zykariel hadn't been compliant at all when Zahara had been kicked out for that breif time, it only made sense that Malikhai was going to give Malik a run for his money concerning the bedtime issue without Piper around.

Malikhai would be taking reverie on top of Malik if the boy was any closer to his father. But hey, who could blame him? The house was full of people who were always making noise because someone was up at some hour. There was general chaos in the house, he didn't even have his room anymore. Though he gave a yawn as he woke, rubbing at his eyes as he blinked them and looked around the room and then to his father. Again a sad sense fell over him at the realization that mommy wasn't on the other side of him, and thus the boy gave an upset whimper.
Though he attention turned to a folded piece of paper that was on the end of the bed. Wriggling out from under the covers he crawled over them and grabbed the paper, or papers rather, and sat back once more snuggling into blankets. He looked it over before he realized there was indeed more than one paper. One had his name on it, and the others had Malik's. It was mommy's writing! He knew better than to open anything to his father thus for now, those were sat on the bed and he opened his own, reading over the words that were scribbled on the paper meant to be a mother's comfort for her child when she couldn't be physically there for him.
That made him feel so much better but now he had caught excitment and he snatched up daddy's letters and then took to trying to push/shake him out of reverie. "Daddy. Daddy! It's from mommy! Daddy!" Boy were children insistant.
Piper gave a pat to Serino as he reappeared in thier little camping area. "Everything okay at home?" A quick report given by the Zephyr and she smiled yet that faded all too quickly. She hated being not home and she hated the state of things right now. Piper very much considered the link stone in her pocket, but was trying not to use it...she didn't know how she would handle it just right now and it was better to keep quest focused. Sooner they got done, sooner she could get home to her family. At least one temple was done...but that wasn't supposed to be talked about.
Sevilin of course had been up for an hour or two already, dark and early in the morning. Currently he was making rounds of the place, seeing where everyone had set up and how they had done it, who was with who and who did what. Noting who had collars and who didn't, ages and genders...generally observing. After all, he hated crowds and if he had to be around one he was going to know everyone's face...though he was sure meal times would have to be adjusted...he did not look forward to having to wait in line with anyone, or being around that many people. Not a big hardship on his part.

Malik's eyes snapped open, and he sat up a bit groggily, holding his head some. no, being woke from reverie wasn't pleasent...until his brain registered what his son was saying. Piper had sent news. alright...so he took his letters, and opened one up, and set it aside, as it was a map, and went about reading the other one.

There, now daddy was up. Wasn't that great? Indeed it was, because he was a very very clingy child right now anyway and thus daddy had to be awake for the clinging to be properly put into action. Thus, cling to his arm as he sat next to him as daddy read. Though since the map was opened, and that meant it was dibs to read, he did look it over. Wow, mommy was right maps were easy to make. A look back to his father, "What did mommy say? Is this where she is now? Where's this on the big map?" Because he didn't recognize this on the regular maps he had been studying.
In her letter, she was clearly rambling...could of been for a number of reasons but she sure enough was rambling. The first part wasn't too important, mostly just an outline of what Meilikki told her...which wasn't much.
So, who's with me? Two purian elves Leaf and Fin...apparently they were the one's who got all these little orbs that serve as keys. The good news thus far? First key is in place...though remind me never ever to go downward further into the underdark more so into cavernous places with puzzles and weak walls and floors. I'd tell you more...but we signed a contract never to talk about it again. Maybe I'll tell you the whole thing when I get home...which won't be soon enough mind you.
And see, I've told you I'd make a map so you can follow, thank my father for teaching me how next time you see him. It's all interesting terrain and such out here anyway. We've camped down momentarily...gain our barings and what not, catch a quick break. And probably tomorrow be heading out to travel another absurd amoung of distance to another remote location where we'll experience things we'd rather not. Not too much to tell I'm afraid...Leaf and Fin don't talk much and when they do it's amongst themselves or short worded answers. Almost like being alone really. But I ramble on and you're probably only skimming for the important words anyway. I know you. Here's several, just because I like to tease you. Ambush, cave in, blood, underdark critter, sore, tripped. But really...I'm considerably fine right now. Take care of yourself...and by Innoruuk, don't work yourself too hard or into one of your war campaign style overloads. And yes...soon as I get this done, Meilikki said magic should be back...so you'll have to do without a little longer A'mael. Take care of everything for me. I love you.
Zykariel was actually following behind his father this morning. Mommy was still asleep and he figured he'd get up and do manly like things with daddy. Apparently this touring of the place was one of those things. He idly carried Nym in his arms as he followed, asking random questions. "How come we're spying on people daddy?"
A look down to his son, but he kept walking. "It's not spying. It's observing. And we do it because it's always best to know you're surroundings. Little details and such can tell you a lot of information even when you don't think they will at first glance." Spoon feeding the child in perhaps use for Malik's proposed plan last night.

"Mom said she's doing just fine. the oracle sent two companions with her, that aren't very chatty. the map is where she is from here, and as to where this is on the big map, I don't know, we'll have to take a look an dcompare the maps to see where it is."
picking up his son and putting him in his lap.
"mom is doing just fine, see. we keep our promises."
mussing his hair some.
"so are we ready for something to eat or do you want to stay here for a little bit longer?"

He looked over his own fluffy letter again, hugging it to himself for a moment. It was so nice to just see even mommy's handwritting. But a little nod at the mentioning of maps...he was getting good at those and daddy was really good, it's be easy to figure out right? His child logic said yes and that was the important thing indeed.
A look up to an older practically mirror image of himself at the question before he snuggled against his father's chest in affectionate child like fashion. Someone had to spoil him with affection since mommy was gone after all...in all actuallity, he did spend quite the bit of time with her despite his emulation of his father. "Mommy said I gotta eat and that we gotta keep the house together." A stern nod at that...apparently mommy had dictated a role for him by Malik's side as leading the house and he wasn't going to let her or daddy down now was he? Nope. "Gotta get up and get breakfast."
Speaking of breakfast. "You don't need both." Giving his own son the 'don't argue about it, pick one'. That boy and dual breakfasts...sure, he could get that here after all Malik had people to make things anybody wanted. But at Sevilin's place they didn't...no need to let the child get overly used to 'special treatment' when this state of living right now wouldn't be forever. "So pick...waffles or pancakes, not both."
He titled his little head in though, stalled a moment by kicking his feet from where he sat in his chair and petting Nym. He was good at stalling. "Um..." He hated when he couldn't bribe both out of daddy...then again daddy was hard to bribe anyway. "Eggs." There, that was different...and no, eggs weren't yellow. They were off white.

"Alright then."
So he picked his son up, and set him on teh floor before getting himself up and dressing his son first. then getting himself dressed and heading down toward the kitchen, letting servants who had already had this arrangement familiar to them were carting food to lower and upper rooms as well as taking care those that might have been up at the kitchen.
and upon entering the kitchen, pushed Malikhai a little toward Zykariel.
"Alright what do you want...and morning sevilin, Zykariel."

"Keep a close eye on her. She's our bright shining star and we can't afford anything to happen to her." Zahara kept giving instructions and then walked into the stable bending down and pressing two fingers to the pregnant belly. The mare whinnied and blew lightly, ruffling the drow's hair even as she stood back up. "The foal hasn't turned, that's a good sign. Last thing we need is a breach birth." Stroking her side and speaking in low dulcet tones to her. "Bring me a currycomb." She gave a smile to the horse and then took the brush and began to gently stroke it along the horse's side. Her words flowed neverending as she soothed the slightly agitated horse. There was a snort and pawing from another stall and Zahara laughed. "I think somebody's a little jealous...what do you think girl?" The mare nuzzled her shoulder lightly and Zahara handed over the brush to a hand to finish the job. Walking into the other stall she let one eyebrow quirk at the pawing nightmare. "You didn't think I forgot about you, did you?"
He eyed her for a moment snorting loudly through his nostrils and tossed his head averting his gaze from hers.
"Yup, somebody got jealous and now he's in a snit. Come on Faete, you're too mature for this. Besides," she said lowering her voice to a whisper right up next to the horse's ear. "I was saving my favorite for last." That got him standing up straight, head erect before it cocked slightly and Zahara laughed again. "You're such a drama horse but that's why I adore you." She picked up a brush and began the daily task of grooming her favorite horse.
Zykariel waved to Malik and Malikhia. "Eggs, Daddy. But you gotta get them made like Mommy makes them where they're all fluffy bits and have cheese on top."

He did indeed toddle over to his friend at his father's urging. After all, wasn't it great that his best playmate and friend was now living living with him? It was indeed, they could play anytime they wanted to. Friend was duely hugged, the boy was in an affectionate mood today, and then he crawled up in his chair. A quick survey of what was being said, and it was easy to decide. "Eggs, like Zykariel's having." And coincidently enough, he knew that was one of daddy's favorite things to eat, which made it all the better.
But then as children often do...it was time for questions. "Daddy, mommy said I gotta help protect the house," waving his letter some before making sure it was close again...no he hadn't let it go as of yet, "So that means I gotta practice with my sword." A look over to Zykariel then, "And so does Zykariel if his things are ready. Can we?" Cue the look.
A look over to Malik, giving him a nod. "Quite the already busy morning indeed. I don't have dark and early to myself anymore it seems." Which was a bit irritating...unless he had a student, then dark and early was Sevilin's time just to himself. It was essential for keeping that crazy at bay...he'd manage. Though it was going to be interesting to see how Malik weasled things into action this morning.

Zachadia shook his head. "She smells LIKE Eliot... more like a relation rather than Eliot herself."
Jude had squated before the wolf and was staring her in the eyes, Kon Stared back. A rumble in her throat occasionaly.
Zell Shrugged, "Well if Warren isn't with her, shouldn't that be a concern?"
Ori finished stitching up Roarke's back and applied a bandage overtop so the stitching wouldn't get caught on anything. "Remember to change the bandages."
Kuro spoke up, "Roarke how did you come across her to begin with? What happened?"

Malik sat down with his food, and took a look at his son for a moment, then a glance at Sevilin.
"Zykariel's things are ready. however teaching him to use them is not my decision, that's his father's choice. and if you want to train more than we can do that after breakfast and after you get cleaned up."
hey, he knew his son was messy with eggs.

Thus puppy look to Sevilin...hey he wasn't above using it on absolutely anyone. "We could all do it together." It'd be a regular day where the boys all spent time together doing those manly things that made girls swoon...or so the books and stories said. It worked in his mind. Though a look back to his father, flashing him that grin he often gave in the guilty yet trying to not look guilty way. What? Eggs were fun... "I'll be clean." He just wouldn't eat as fast.
Zykariel was quick to latch right onto that idea and quickly swallowed the mouthful of food he had. Daddy would not be happy if he talked with his mouth full...neither would mommy for that matter. At least they had something in common...but back to the happy. "Please daddy?!" After all...how much more exciting could things be than getting his own chainmail and grown up like weapon.
"Sure...why not. You have to learn someday...better from someone who knows how to use something than someone who doesn't." And children whined when they weren't used to things such as chainmail and weapons that were heavier than thier wooden swords.
