  Location:Trick or Treat!
“Me too.” She said with an approving nod in regards to Daylia’s costume. Both seemed a little spooked by one of the new guy’s costume. While the Georgia belle couldn’t quite put her finger on it, the mounds of flesh just made her skin crawl, albeit it a nice makeup job.
Peering about the room, hazel eyes scrutinized every new-looking person, comparing them to their new gold standard. Offering to essentially give out participant ribbons to costume rankings for creativity, Gracie giggled when her bestie said that the guy with the Resident Evil costume was to receive no points, ever. “Easy call to make.” She agreed, one brow perked as she made another sidelong glance at Darius. “So far, your previous statement holds true.” She said, still sounding skeptical as she motioned for him to turn. The Pharaoh continued to be a good sport, humoring her request -- almost relishing in the attention he received from the pair of girls.
The hex witch emphasized the need to check out his assets, and Daylia, God love her, ran with it, mentioning the need to flip quarters off of his glutes. “Exactly.” Her series of giggles matched the wolfish girl next to her.
Pressing a hand to her lips, her features transformed into something quizzical and contemplative, and when Darius raised his arms as if to ask what she thought, a smirk played at the corner of her lips. “Not bad.” She said, downplaying the hotness scale. But damn…. He had been blessed. Thankfully the darkened room hid any tinge creeping into her cheeks as she admitted that to herself, but she tore her eyes away all the same, instead honing in on where Daylia pointed at a man in a red spandex suit for The Flash. Unfortunately, Quintin wasn’t new… but the costume he chose he did fill out nicely. “He’s ruggedly good looking.” She said, bumping her partner in crime with her hip as a way to pull her out of her disappointment.
“James is with a new person…” She said, nodding in the direction of June and their resident telekinetic. “Sadly just a girl. So I guess we’ll let Darius judge her, because I believe he’ll claim expertise.” Mischief made its home in her countenance as she zeroed in on the blond next to the newbie’s very ironic costume. No... wait... there was a guy too. "Who's that?" She asked, unable to tell from the back of his head. Not that she dwelled on it for long, because the virokinetic's costume usurped all of her attention. “June. God I love that girl so much. And even more after that.” “Well, Mister Super Tall is new.” Not a bad build either, but she couldn’t glean much in the way of his looks because of his costume. “I hope those bolts are fake.” A few minutes into comparing notes on the party’s attendees, she offered the nice drink of water next to her a finger sandwich while automatically just handing one to D.
The molecular manipulator posed a question for their new friend, and Gracie couldn’t stop herself from quipping that the ship had long since sailed in regards to them holding back. After all, they’d just blatantly ogled him while he posed for it. Laughing, their shared humor set hazel orbs ablaze with mirth when Daylia admitted it was usually always too late when it came to them. “Pretty much.”
Being new, Darius rightly asked if there was anyone he should know about, and the pair tried to determine what gossip to dish. Daylia was clinical in her answer, and the hex witch’s shoulders rolled with a very casual shrug. “Trying to catch you up on half the drama this place has seen might take all night.” She admitted, not really wanting to delve into heavier topics while they were still looking to have a good time. Her bestie cited boredom, but with whatever June had just poured into the punch, it practically guaranteed a good time. Announcing her departure, she cast a coy smile in his direction, long eyelashes sweeping over her cheeks with a wink at his line about watching her walk away.
Pouring three drinks, she noted the assembly hovering around the tables and noted several unfamiliar faces. Beaming at them, she chose not to say anything beyond her one word greeting. Everyone seemed too engrossed in their own little world to take note of little Red to try and engage her any further, and she was fine with that.
Sauntering back to her preferred company, she passed out the red solo cups as Darius celebrated the alcohol. Tipping her own drink in his direction, Gracie tilted the cup, trying to avoid any liquid hitting her tongue -- anticipating that the jungle juice would likely taste like garbage.
Daylia suggested they scare someone after they polished off some alcohol, and their male counterpart started suggesting a few people, ending with the reasoning that Blake drinking water was reason enough to scare him. “Oh, that’s because he got into so much trouble last time he drank, that he hasn’t partied in a year.” Talk about a bad break up. In her eyes, he still seemed like he was mourning the loss of Kerri. Dumbass. Kerri was a catch; he couldn’t have done better.
Daylia called him a stiff and huffed at him blowing stuff up. “Not nearly as subtle… or useful, in my opinion. Half the school can blow stuff up… Myself included.” Being invisible, passing unseen? Much cooler.
“You wouldn’t know it…” Gracie remarked, shaking her head as she braved another swallow of the death punch. “But he actually used to prank people pretty frequently…” Her lips took on a sour pout as she remembered on particular instance where she and he had a war in their youth. “I pointed at him, hijinx ensued… and the next opportunity he got, I was stuck on a branch in a tree for an hour.”
Had he not come to release her with food in hand, anger and the need for revenge might have colored her tone. “As for the people at the table… not even a single one of them realized I said hello, so I’d say they are easy marks.”
Inspiration struck her best friend, and she disappeared. Scanning the room carefully, she nearly missed the cheeseball splattering on the back of Felix’s head. Burying her face behind the rim of her cup, she fought the urge to snort and give away Daylia’s trick. “Perfect target. This one approves.” She said between breaths, trying to contain her giggles so no one would look their way and suspect them.
“No doubt he’ll immediately think Kerri’s trying to get back at him for the Kool-Aid incident earlier…” Oh, this had so much potential to get good.

She was bitter about flowers dying, but his rebuttal made her laugh. “She was too small minded, she should have asked for diamonds.” Luci would never do such a thing, but it was fun to laugh about something like that. She honestly didn’t know how to show feelings like that, to express them to someone else. “The catch with me is having to use your words because physical contact is a little risky.”
She was happy to be on the move because her cheeks tinted at the insinuation behind her statement. She couldn’t dream in a million years being in a relationship with someone, especially Blake. Even though her heart fluttered like a school girl’s, she knew better. The dark reality of the risk always kept her chained to Earth. The blush faded just barely to blend with her makeup when he set to work on her bow, careful around her skin.
His hands fell away and the conversation steered in the direction of him being in the scouts, and his parents on top of that. He was bitter, sarcastic even. Luci shook her head, “I’d never want you to be perfect, just being yourself should be more than enough.” There she went again. She was going to need a drink or something when they got to the party to wash away the feeling of embarrassment that always bubbled up when she tried being confident.
He offered to cover the cost of the tricks that were brought along if his roommate happened to return and came looking for them. Though it was unlikely, she couldn’t particularly argue with him about it. She nodded, agreeing finally before motioning for them to move down to the party. They were just late enough where it would be considered fashionable.
On the walk, she studied the directions of the trick cards, vaguely figuring it out. Maybe she wouldn’t need them. When they reached the party, she needed a drink and Blake was quick to warn her. She spoke about the irony of poisoning someone like her, and he was still a gentleman about it. She smiled softly, “Hopefully I won’t have to take you up on it.”
She slipped away from him then, making her way to the refreshments table. She wasn’t alone for long, though, before someone came to her side, complimenting her costume. She was timid, shy almost about it. But she was warm all the same. She thanked him kindly for the compliment before trying some of the punch, the burn causing her to cough a little, to which she apologized.
He did the same, trying the drink with much more grace than she had. At least she wasn’t alone when it came to the strength of the drink. He too complimented how bad it was before cheering with her. It hurt, but perhaps it would help her relax a little, even if it was just one drink.
“As you might have noticed, I didn’t really plan a costume. Never was a big fan of Halloween. Free candy or a party here and there, but it gets old fast.” Luci looked at him for a moment before shrugging. “I don’t really know much about it. I went trick-or-treating as a kid, but this is my first Halloween party in a very long time…” What was it now? At least ten years? Her powers made her a danger. She couldn’t reach into a candy dish or be around kids. What was the point of wasting money on a costume that would have to be burned? She was better of secluded and left out in the eyes of her family.
She took a sip of her drink while he finished his. He mentioned her costume again, on reflex she looked down at her outfit. She smiled softly, “I spent a while trying to pick out the right thing. I didn’t want to be wearing the same thing as someone else.” Which was true, she didn’t want to match anyone at the party. She wanted to stand out, something that was so different from normal. She needed to step as far out of her comfort zone as she could for one night.
He mentioned a name that she didn’t recognize and she tipped her head at him before he went on to explain a bit better what it was that he meant. When he admitted to being a magician, her eyes lit up a little bit. It all clicked and she smiled brightly. “Really?” There was almost a childlike fascination in her eyes.
He leaned against the table then and took up one of the plastic spoons. Her eyes followed carefully before it disappeared and her brows lifted on her face. She smiled brightly as he admitted the trick being a little cheesy. “No! I’ve never seen magic in real life. The most I caught growing up was some bits and pieces on the television when I was allowed out of my room and someone left the tv on.” She shook her head, not minding at all for him to show her some tricks. “I have some cards to go with my costume, but I don’t know any tricks.”
She fished around in the inner lining of her jacket, opening it to flash the way her costume hugged her curves without thinking about it before she pulled the cards free. She moved to hand them to him before hesitating. She paused for a second before bringing them close. “Please don’t think I’m weird…” she muttered softly before bringing the deck close to her nose and breathing in, trying to smell the floral tell of her poison. When all she got from the card was the smell of the treated paper, she held the deck out toward Dominic.

Gabe Byrne Location: Party Thoughts: Life’s a party you know...Gabe took in the Spider-Queen with a new eye, appreciating the curves as they clung tightly to her makeshift dress. She remarked that it had taken hours for her to make the dress, Gabe quickly thinking to himself And only a few seconds to toss aside on the floor. When he finally got to his senses, his own flirtatious behavior began to arise within him. For once, the lean built gunman had a good line. Alice quickly countered saying the last thing he needed was her with a loaded weapon, to which he quickly replied, “Well go on ahead miss, feel free to try and beat me on the draw and see what happens.” his voice still playful in tone. His hands were spread, palms wide open in a joking go on ahead motion.
When she walked away, he walked over to the bar, taking in the snacks and drinks. Gabe downed some punch when he asked a couple of other partygoers about their night. Kerri said it had been going alright, Quintin as well, both of them asked him about how he was doing. They both seemed to notice his change in cadence, to which he answered simply.
“Oh just had a good day, is all.” his voice oozed confidence, deep to an almost baritone level. This was the young man at his most calm, his most collected, his most confident. Pulling out a bullet from his belt, he twirled it around in his fingers, much like someone would with a coin, before following up “And as for the Spider-Queen,I can’t honestly say. Now it’s all a matter of who winds up in who’s web…” the glint in his eye was still there, his entire presence gave the impression that he was an almost completely different person.
All a matter of perspective for Gabe.

He didn't really know anything about Luci so when she smelled the cards before handing them to him, he did think it was a bit odd but he said nothing and his features certainly did not betray him in that regard. As he accepted the cards, he set the empty cup on the table. He quickly undid the packaging and thumbed through them. They felt new due to how easily they slid across one another. He bent the edges of the deck, fanning them and making the classic shuffling noise. He was able to shuffle them fairly easily in spite of not having a solid surface to do so on. He took sections of the card, several sections between his fingertips, and spider-crawled them back into the deck. He then shuffled in several different manners before cutting the deck and fanned them out. "I'll let you in on this one. The trick of the trick is to keep the person guessing. You don't want them to be able to see what you're doing. And I don't mean hiding the cards. You can keep them in plain sight. It is more about getting them to buy into the deception."
He pushed the deck back together and bent the cards in one hand, shooting them through the air and into his other hand. "You've got to put on a show. No one likes being lied to, but if you at least entertain them, they're more willing to let you lie to them." In spite of the deck having been face down, several of the cards were now appearing face up in a random order. He did the same thing but this time from the opposite hand to the other and the cards returned to their face-down position. "But none of this is lying. None of this is magic. This is just me being good with my hands." He winked at her in a playful manner before spreading out the cards in his right hand in the traditional fan pattern. He now held a pen in his left hand. "So, what I want you to do is pick a card and I want you to sign the face of it -- the side that shows the suit and the number."

Location: Party With: August and Alex Thoughts: Drink? Of course I drink! I drink coffee. I drink fruit punch. My guy, I am a friggin ocean! Of course he never drunk before. The male just finally found out how and why people were addicted to coffee and even cookies. It certainly beat the terrible military styled cooking his father did every once in a while with rations. All besides the point though, that was not how he perceived everything. Like a good tilted soul, he deeply processed what it was August and even Lex himself with a confused smile. He saw this all in an entirely different manner and nine times out of ten, he was going address it just like that.
”Drink,” he asked aloud as his eyes lit up while flinging the cup around to emphasize his point. ”Why, OF COURSE, I drink. I drink coffee. I drink juice. I drink soda. I’d like to say that I happen to drink a lot of things, like this Fruit Punch here...of which I think I’m going to go for thirds! Whoooooot!”
There was just a brief pause in his last set of words before he slipped through the crowd in a quick brief notion that involved him doing a forward hand spring, none of which caused the drink in his cup to spill and despite his heavy inebriation, portrayed that the Hydrokinetic had some kind of grace to him overall to keep almost every mental and physical faculty in check. Almost all of them. All of it was just a clever ruse of appearing beside August with a cup full of the punch all over again. But, listening to his roommate while giving the other a salute, he was sitting down, not drinking, but just casually observing everything. For now. The man said something about doing a fancy trick and well, Marcel was a person willing to deliver.
”Okay, so like, I think you’re absolutely right. I should definitely do something like I did in the kitchen and so…”
He might have just decided to do something nifty after all. The idea started with him casually pointing upwards where watching eyes could find the security measures in place of a fire breaking loose. Oh yes, he was pointing at the sprinkler system itself and if showing them that to some degree he was a little more balanced than the typical drunk, he had a good handle of how to yank everything and turn this party into a water park. That was once he got a good handle of having the water in the tank twist enough to cause the lock holding it all back to undo itself. He looked at both Alex and August with a s**t faced expression fit to rival a person mellowly stoned on drugs.
“I got it all worked out though, see? Like, I’m gonna make sure it doesn’t land on your makeup or anything, cause you definitely put in some good work there. I just feel like splashing around for a bit!”
He was dead serious, too. A calculating drunk. Go figure.

The roommate seemed to take his side in the idea of him being one of the less threatening people at the party. Which, perhaps it was true, but August knew where to draw a line when he had to. However, he could be just as much trouble as Felix, one way or another.
He explained what his silly little phrases meant, and like a keyword that ignited all the little communication neuron’s in Marcel’s drunk brain, the mutant fired off. August shook his head, laughing softly, knowing that this could get dangerous fast if Marcel was going at a steady rate of three drinks in ten minutes.
“Different kind of drinkin’, darlin’. This kind’ll hurt ya in the morning.” And just like a determined toddler after a cookie tray, Marcel was back to the table to fill his cup for the third time. August decided that he would slow down and keep his head clear for the sake of both of them. Alex was free of Marcel’s hold and went to his normal, observing default. Marcel was gone and back to the table.
He looked to Alex when he commented on this being a sign of what was yet to come and he shrugged his shoulders. As if the roommate jinxed it, Marcel was fired up. The talk of tricks and fancy drove the drunk mutant on again, spurring him into wanting to show off. August was quickly learning that he would have to watch what he said. Marcel pointed at the sprinkler system and August groaned. “Maybe that ain’t such a good idea.” August filled his cup out of stress as he listened to the mutant’s idea. He slammed back the drink and tossed the cup into the trash that had been placed near the table.
“And just how you plannin’ to get all that water out of here without drenching the party?” Keep him talking. Just talking. Splashing around was good, here just was not the good place to do it. “Rather go to the pool than try to not drench a party.” August was ready for anything at this point, but if he could keep Marcel from trying to unleash hundreds of gallons of water onto the party, he would consider that his best option.
He looked at Marcel, relaxing into an easy smile. “C’mon. I wanna see something bigger than just playing with the sprinklers. Let’s go for a swim.” He was willing to ditch the party, sacrifice the makeup and effort if he saved the event for everyone else involved. He held his hand out to Marcel, waiting for his answer.
Hell, at this point, August would let him lift the whole damn ocean. There were so many ways that this could go wrong. No telling how being drunk would affect Marcel’s control over his abilities. Sure, he had the confidence, but that didn’t always equal into flawless execution. August could only do so much to help with his own ability, but with the growing numbing buzz in his head, he knew that he wouldn’t have perfect control either.

For that, she was grateful. Dominic moved flawlessly into opening the pack and shuffling them. His hands moved with skill that she probably would never be able to grasp on her own. She watched his fingers, how they manipulated the cards flawlessly. It wasn’t until he spoke up that her green eyes danced from the cards to his expression.
She listened to him explain the trick, the deception of it. “Does it work with everyone?” She couldn’t believe that people were that easy to fool. That even a deck of cards could wow and astonish someone. Her eyes went back to the cards as they launched from one hand to another. She was becoming more and more impressed by the minute. And suddenly, it was beginning to make sense why these things worked.
It was a grand lie, and that was the point. It had to be. No one wanted to be tricked. And some complicated tricks were probably layered upon misleading elements. She chewed at her lip, tugging at the red paint that coated them as she watched. She was nervous, wanting to figure the trick out before he could explain it, but doubting that she even could. She knew very little about cars, even less about magic.
Her eyes moved to his face again when he spoke, “You make it look so easy.” She smiled, impressed with how well he could manipulate the cards in his hands. She couldn’t even shuffle. Though it would be easier without gloves on, it would be a cold day in hell before that could happen. She pushed the bitter thought from her mind when he fanned the cards out for her.
She took the pen before looking at the cards, her eyes flowing over them before selecting one and removing it from the deck carefully. She looked at the card, the five of hearts for a moment before clicking the pen. She signed her name, Luciana Valentine, carefully. The pen glided over the card easily, her letters smooth and cursive, almost perfect but a little more bubbly. She spent a long time perfecting her handwriting, it was one of the few things she could do all day long while she was hidden away growing up.
She clicked the pen again when she was finished, looking at her own name written on the card before looking at Dominic again. “Okay… What’s next?” She wondered what the point of writing on the card was. Would it show that it wasn’t a trick card, not something that could easily be switched out with multiples of that same card? She wanted to know the secret, the finale, already. She understood why magic was so intriguing, especially with the quiet excitement she was beginning to feel in her chest.

"Not with everyone," he admitted. "Fellow magicians, for example. If you have a quick eye and you know how the majority of card tricks are performed, you have a better than fighting chance to figure it out." He gave the cards a final flourish, shuffling the card she had signed into the deck. "Now, somewhere in the deck is the card you signed. But you see...there's a problem." He turned the deck so that the faces of the cards were visible to both of them. He started to thumb the first few of them apart. "I don't think this is your card, but your signature is on it." He held up the 7 of spades and tossed it to the ground. He did the same thing with a queen of diamonds which also bore her signature. Then the 6 of clubs, 2 of clubs, 3 of hearts. Each card he produced had her signature on it in the same place and the same way she signed it. He fanned the remaining cards out in his hand before tossing them onto the table next of them. "I was sure I put the card back in the deck."
He looked around him on the ground and at her feet then began to pat down his person, pretending to feel for the card. He even reached into his shirt sleeves and pulled out a myriad of colored cloths which were tied together and pooled on the ground in front of him. "Where did I put that card?" He picked up one of the cards absentmindedly and began to flick it as he thought, causing the face of the card to change randomly to other suits and numbers.
"Wait, what's that?" He looked at her with a slight tilt to his head. He fixed his gaze upon her before reaching towards the side of her face.

Magicians, or a strong enough skeptic with a good eye, could see the trick unfold before them. She passed the card back to him, watching as he shuffled it back into the deck. Her eyes followed as he explained that somewhere in the deck was her card. Her eyes went from his hands to his face when he said there was a problem. She flushed.
“Did I do something wrong?” She wouldn’t be surprised if she messed up the trick, ruining it for the both of them. She didn’t know anything about magic, and while he was showing her a trick, she was more in awe rather than really studying it. He turned the deck for them to see, thumbing over the top few cards.
“But… I put it back…” She was really confused now. How could none of the cards be hers? Was that possible? How could it just disappear like that? And where was it, if it was truly gone. She watched as he tossed card after card onto the ground. They had her signature, each one. But they weren’t her card. Her brows pushed together as she watched. “I… How?” Each of the cards that were fanned out had her signature on them. But, she only signed one card. Each signature was a perfect recreation of her own.
“I was sure I put the card back in the deck.”
“You did.” She saw it, she knew that he did. He shuffled it back in. As he searched the ground at their feet, patting his own clothing down, she felt impulsed to do the same. But when he reached for his sleeves and pulled on the typical handkerchiefs that you saw clowns do as fun tricks at parties. She laughed, distracted by the silliness of the pool of fabric on the ground.
She watched him as he picked up a card from the floor, flicking it with his finger as he tried to play off losing the card. She shook her head, laughing softly and not noticing the other cards change. Especially not when he looked at her, tilting his head. She looked at him, confused. It wasn’t until he reached for her that her heart hammered in her chest.
She moved just in time, reaching out with a gloved hand and caught his wrist. She didn’t want to seem aggressive, but she was frantic. “D-Don’t.” Her voice broke as she spoke. She looked at his hand, realizing that she was still holding it hostage. She pulled her hand away from his wrist, letting him go. “Sorry… You can’t touch me. My powers… I’m sorry. I ruined the trick…” Her eyes went to the floor, expressing that she really did feel bad.

XX【 】 Name: Alexander "Lex" Magnus XX【 】 Codename: Wraith XX【 】 Team Affiliation: n/a XX【 】 Location: Halloween Party XX【 】 With: August and Marcel XX【 】 Actions: Attempting to get Marcel out with August XX【 】 Costume: Plague doctor Wraith almost reflexively went to stop Marcel but was just a hair too late. Had he decided to use his powers, he could have easily held his roommate back from the drink table, but when the hydrokinetic came back he thought perhaps one more wouldn’t kill him. Then again, he was feeling a little fuzzy as well. Having had some of the drink he was not immune to the effects. The only saving grace was that Wraith had but a fraction of what either August or Marcel did. That meant his head was likely to stay clearer for longer. The downside was that he recognized just how bad an idea it was for the party to have sprinklers going off. August started in with talking and diversion. Quick to capitalize on that, Wraith piped in. “Yeah, why worry about getting everybody wet when we can get you to the pool and have a lot more to work with already. Dripping it through the roof is a pain.” Sometimes the best kind of reasoning is appealing to what they wanted. Marcel in this state seemed to want to show off. Appealing to that was the best idea floating about, and was pushed a bit harder. Then the idea of going for a swim came up. There was doubt in that, but still it got the pair . . . or perhaps trio, out of this situation. Too many would raise a stink at being drenched. Worse yet, if this was the fate of the party, Wraith wasn’t sure he wanted to be around when this many mutants lost control. It could easily become bedlam. He shot a concerned look to August, but didn’t argue. Instead, he tried to help the most inebriated to his feet. Half walking, half dragging his roommate, he tried to make it to the door. The environment was not helping, as the punch was still readily available and the mood of the room could turn. It was a tactic he used many times on his way to the institute. Having to all but backpack it across the countryside, Wraith had seen far too many innocent situations turn bad to want to see it again. Still fuzzy, he was concerned on what might happen. Paranoia was a hell of a drug. The insistent movement was not meant to be violent in the slightest way, but to get Marcel moving. He could only hope that August would help. ”C’mon, buddy. I wanna see waterworks like only you can. Maybe make a floating bubble of water in the air for him to swim in- like in all the movies!” It was lame, but all he could think of. The trick was to keep Marcel excited for the prospect of going to the pool. Something to keep him from wanting to stay in the throbbing music and available alcohol. It seemed his choice in costume was appropriate after all. A doctor, trying to do right by people. Marcel was going to go down one of two paths . . . he was either going to sober up, or pass out at this rate. In either case, the party might not be what was best for him. Still convinced that August was safe, Wraith didn’t bother to keep that one at arm’s length. Instead, he welcomed the company. ”You know you wanna show them abs off, right?” It was half encouragement to play along and half compliment. Playing off the idea that some romance was possible, surely that guy was wanting to show off a little. OOC: sorry for the crap post. Writers block and physical ailments are interfereing.

Roland Anton Chevalier Location: Party Thoughts: Enjoying the scenery Roland stood there with Cam and Randal as they drank and talked at the party. Roland had to chuckle when he talked about his bet, “Gotta love those bets. They always tend to bite people in the a** when they least expect it.” Randal mentioned Katria, who Roland figured out to be Cam’s little girl. With a raised eyebrow, he asked with inquisitiveness “How old? And what’d she go trick ‘r treating as this year?”“Daddy is certainly playing tonight…” he said, taking in a deep breath, “Yeesh, you want to smell like Tijuana in the morning? I can smell that tequila from way up here.” he joked. Soon the topic of labels came about, and Roland proceeded to go on a bit of a rant about the sometimes societal discord that resulted from it. Roland was apologetic for his raving, but the two of them would have none of it. Good to know he was among folks who were on the same page as him. There was a level of understanding to the merits of such labels, but you could never discount the fact that it’s also labels that create so many problems. Stroking his beard, he quipped back to Cam with his Shakespearean reference, “Easy there chief, don’t get too romantic on me.” he said with a wink and a click of the tongue. The two of them mused on whether or not low-rent Eastwood was gonna eat s**t with the Spider-Queen. He nodded in agreement when the fellow veteran pointed out that the two of them would likely be splitting the winnings between the two of them. He certainly wasn’t wrong about that. He took note of his compatriots’ state of intoxication when he was asking about taking a pull from his flask. “Careful now, you might need two hands to hold this big guy.” he said as he gently handed it to him. With a tendril underneath should a drunken mishap occur, he’d be able to recover the flask without (hopefully) a spilled drop. He paid good money for this hooch, no way in hell was he gonna waste it. OOC: Lemme know of any problems!

In their search for new students to compare their arm candy to, Daylia pointed out Quintin, only to realize a few moments later that he wasn’t new at all. "He is, I’m not dismissing that… But not new, so not what I’m supposed to be looking for."
Her eyes followed Gracie's words to James and the woman he was with. Another frown crossed her face as her partner in crime stated the obvious. She gave a half shrug. So far they were coming up with squat, one new creepy guy and a new girl. Halloween was really not the right time to try this."Hah, is that a nun costume? ******** perfect." She said with a giggle. The thing that seemed to make it even funnier was the consideration of the woman's powers.
Again Daylia followed Gracie’s gestures towards the next person. Her head tilted as she took in his looks. "Not bad, not bad. And gross, I hope so too." She said as she shook her head. However, as she continued to look, a frown crossed her face. "You know, I almost feel like he’s too tall. At least for me." She shrugged. Plus there seemed to be the hint of gray in his beard, making her wonder just how old the man was.
Daylia ate her sandwich, and between bites, she gave the new kid on the block the rundown of a few of the students there. However, she stopped after a few, finding it incredibly boring. "Yeah, and it makes me feel like a creep or a professor." She said, agreeing with Gracie. A heartbeat later, Daylia pointed out her obvious feeling of boredom. Gracie, being the best friend a girl could ever have, excused herself to get some of the June tainted punch.
Hopefully, it was only tainted with booze and nothing else.
As Gracie sautered away, Darius stuck up a conversation with her. Of course not till after the comment about getting to watch her best friend walk away. She couldn’t fault him for that. "Yep, she’s pretty much family to me at this point." A grin crossed her face as he mentioned that he was down if the pair needed any muscle. ""Well, if that time ever comes I will let you know.
Having answered his question, she turned it back on him, asking about any people he may have left behind. "Yeah, that's what I hear." She said solemnly. Of course, she hadn’t had that kind of experience, not here anyway. Lots of students seemed to stay at the school well past their high school years. It was nice not to have to uproot to have to take college courses. "Team? What kind of team were you on?" She asked, assuming it was a sports team of some sort. She didn’t just want to assume though. "Yeah." She said with a soft nod. "Well, here people tend to get close, so here's hoping you make some new, good friends." She added in an attempt to lighten the mood a little.
Darius changed the topic, this time attempting to guess what her power actually was. Surprisingly he hit the nail on the head, with both parts of her powers. She laughed as he called her lucky. "Yeah, lucky, sure." She ran down some of the technical stuff of her powers without even thinking. Most would find it boring, but he seemed to be paying attention at least. "Yeah, it can be cool, till I overdo it. That's when the dizzy spells and nausea come into play." She laughed again. He had seen her earlier, so she could assume he would put two and two together.
She shook her head, the smile still playing over her lips. "Nope, all I gotta do is stand over his shoulders like a creep." He claimed to be slightly jealous of her gifts to which she shook her head again. "Nah, I wouldn’t be, there are too many other powers to be jealous of." Like Blakes ability to blow things up, or James’ ability to move s**t with his mind.
Again she flipped the question on him, knowing that she would probably get some cheeky answer from the way she had asked. "Oh yeah, I’m sure you are." She said, a hint of sarcasm to her voice. A brow rose as he talked about his powers. He almost seemed to hesitate. She nodded along as he continued. "Oh, there is a professor like that around here too." Her head tilted as he mentioned having been shot, and even taking the time to point out the old wounds. "Oh wow, that’s pretty nifty. Regenerative powers are pretty nice to have in my book. Shame about having been shot though. That is not a fun experience."
Daylia gladly accepted the cup Gracie held out for her before taking a large sip. Booze was sure to lighten the mood, and hopefully, cure some of her boredom. They tried their hand at picking out a target to scare. Darius pointed out Blake, and Daylia shot it down, citing her feelings on the man. "Well, I can’t say I feel sorry for him." She said lowly. She still hadn’t quite forgiven him for what he had done to Kerri.
She huffed about his powers, which happened to be one of the reasons she didn’t want to target him. Darius seemed to agree with her thought process. "No, maybe not. But let's face it, sometimes you just need to blow something up." She said before taking another big swig of her drink. The drink was terrible, but she could feel her cheeks getting slightly warmer. That meant that it was starting to work.
Gracie told them a story of how they used to prank one another, and how Blake has stuck her to a tree branch. "Oh my god, I’m actually shocked he’s still alive with a stunt like that." D would have probably killed him had it been her. But then again, getting stuck inside something was one of her biggest fears.
Hmm, they could work."" However Kerri was out of the question. She would surely be able to catch on before D actually managed to do anything. However before they could put a plan together for anyone at the refreshments and food area, she caught the sight of Felix entering the party.
Mischief played over her features as she told the two she would be right back. She turned on the power of invisibility as she made her way to the food area. It took her a moment, but she did manage to find one of the cheese balls with the most left and lobbed it at the speedsters head. Hopefully, he would assume one of the people around her would get the blame. At least that was the plan. Or maybe he would blame Farren, the woman who had doused him with her drink.
She quickly returned to her company and dropped her invisibility. "Oh, I figured you would approve, but I'm glad I got the stamp." They had been talking s**t about the guy earlier for a reason. Or two.
Daylia nodded earnestly, causing the world to spin around her for a moment. "Those were my hoped exactly." She said between quiet giggles. It was going to be fun, or at least that’s what they were hoping for.
"Shhh, keep your voice down." She said as she put a finger in front of her mouth. "The whole point is to not get caught." She said with a stifled giggle. She looked back to Felix for a moment, before returning them to Darius. "He’s just a speedster p***k, someone else who gets his kicks by pranking people."
His next question was about the Kool-Aid incident, and Daylia nodded before going into details. "Turns out he stuck a bunch of red Kool-aid into the shower heads in the girls area. He managed to catch poor Kerry there," She said, pointing out the redhead in question, "with one of them." Again she grinned as he said he was going to love this place. "And to think that you haven’t even experienced the half of it yet."
