Yawning, Doraya found herself in a tree, located at the edge of Altheda. 'And again, I really have nothing to do...Fighting is not my hobby of choice...*sigh*' Shaking her head a bit, she jumped to the ground and walked into the village.
"I suppose I'll get some food...And find someone to bother, if there's actually anyone worth while here...When did I get so snobby?" Wincing as she thought aloud, Doraya frowned. Her change had caused an alter in her personality...

Justice yawned, stretching out across her bed and nuzzling back into her pillow. She knew she needed to get up, but figured she could get in a few more minute's rest before she would have to get up and start her day. The cat that had recently taken up with her seemed perfectly fine with the idea, lounging at the end of the bed, perfectly content with the inn they'd been staying in for the past week or so. Justice knew she'd overstayed her welcome, though. Soon people would start looking for her and she honestly didn't want to be bothered.
She'd always been reluctant to do any true work, especially when it came to the things she usually had to do, like help fight wars. War after war and she could feel something new bubbling at the surface of the Earth just waiting to find her. Something was coming, and soon so would someone. She didn't want to wait around for it to come. She didn't want to wait around for them to come.
Her mind lingered on these thoughts, and it inevitably forced her to drag herself up and out of bed to bathe and find a new place to stay. She was used to the moving by now, since it was what she'd done most of her life. She was never ready for any of it; ready for her change, ready for her demons, ready for her wins or losses. Above all, she wasn't ready to be caught.
Not yet.

As Damien approached the town of Altheda, he stopped to examine it. It was almost large enough to be a city, with some taller buildings reaching above the sea of relatively level roofs. The buildings were a beautiful combination of stone and half-timber construction making it feel homey. He had been here plenty of times before but he never actually stopped to study it. For the first time, he saw how humble it looked. Despite the town's size it still managed to feel cozy.
Damien walked down the main street and into the town, barely passing by half a dozen buildings before his stomach growled. He frowned and looked down, rubbing it as if it would delay the inevitable. As if destiny were actually smiling on him for once, he rounded a corner and stumbled upon a fruit merchant. He tossed the merchant a few coin, taking 2 apples in return. He immediately bit into one, clenching it in his teeth while he stored the other away into his pouch. He began to walk away as he ate the first apple, which was gone in seconds. As he got rid of the core he realized he'd barely made it 20 ft from the apple vendor before he finished his breakfast. He doubled back and bought two more apples for good measure, tipping the merchant a few extra coin.
As he began on his second apple, Damien pulled a small piece of paper from his waistband. He opened it with his one hand and studied it as he walked. Somehow he managed to avoid at least 3 different collisions with other people in the streets while his eyes remained glued to the parchment. The encounters seemed more like pure luck rather than intentional dodges. He finally came to a stop, some blocks away from where he started and looked up from the paper, scanning the shops and buildings on the street around him. He looked back and forth a bit, turned a few corners and scanned again. Finally, he paused and let out a long sigh. He had no idea where he was.

Justice didn't waste time with her bath like she normally would, the sense of urgency growing in her gut. The cat watched her with one eye open from the bed as she hurried across the room with a towel on to grab her clothes. She was ungry, but it would have to wait until she got far out of town. The people here were hospitable, and she didn't think they would like her coming back if she fed on and possibly killed one of their residents.
She put her clothes on and haphazardly dried her hair with the towel before throwing it on the bed and grabbing her daggers. Walking to the door, she glanced back at the cat and sighed, deciding that she would allow it to come with her if it wanted to. "Come on, Bartleby," she called, not looking back to see if he would follow as she went out the door.
Justice was oddly affectionate toward the cat, given that she wasn't usually affectionate about anyone. Almost everyone. However, over the past few weeks the calico had grown on her, especially given his rarity. Still, they enjoyed the other's company mostly because each of them preferred to keep their distance. They found solace in the silence.
The cat reluctantly hopped off of the bed, following her when she went to the counter to pay the innkeeper and then following her out the door to leave the town. Bartleby could sense her urgency, although he couldn't quite understand it. He, too, felt something happening. A shift in the earth. A change in the air. Things were happening. Dark things.

Just one...little... Eruanna allowed her bowstring to snap forth, forcing her arrow toward the deer in question. Striking it through the throat, the strong buck fell to the ground, blood the color of fresh cherries staining the new grass of spring. She jumped down from the tree and slung her bow over her shoulder. Sauntering toward the still writhing animal, Eruanna glanced up at the city before her. Albeit, it wasn't as glorious as her old homestead, it was nevertheless what she now called home.
Stooping over the beast, she retrieved her arrow and dug her hunting knife deep into its chest. It was a powerful animal, one that would fetch a pretty amount of coin at the marketplace that evening. Before cleaning her kill, she looked him over out of obligation to the market vendors, but also out of respect for the animal. His antlers were huge. They alone could fetch some money for her but she preferred to keep them as homage. The legs were strong, that of a runner with one long and hairless scar across its flank. It seems to have been created by an ill aimed arrow that had been torn out, probably after getting stuck in brambles. "Looks like someone tried to hunt you down before and failed. May you have not suffered too much, poor creature. I promise you shan't have died in vain, " she whispered softly.
With her hand gently resting on the deer's soft underbelly, she began to drag her sharpened blade with the swiftness and skill of an experienced hunter. Poor thing, she thought while shaking her head, Unable to see danger, even when it's lurking right over your shoulder.

Damien wandered around a few other corners, looking for any landmark he could go by to give him his bearings. He kept and eye on the shop signs around him to make sure he didn't get disoriented further, but without knowing where he started it was still a lost cause. He pulled the paper out of his waistband once more, checked it briefly and tucked it away again. He paused, and sighed. He really didn't want to ask someone for directions.
He walked to the corner of the street he was on and took a good look in each direction. he closed his eyes and just stood there for a moment. He took a deep breath in, and exhaled. He opened his eyes and suddenly started off with a new look of purpose in his eyes. He turned a few corners, no longer appearing lost as he had been.
He stopped at another corner and looked down the road. The serious look on his face dropped and he raised an eyebrow. He grinned as he started on a fast walk. He didn't want to run because it would grab too much attention but he needed to catch up. He dodged between people as best he could, his sights set on the person at the end of the street. as he began to catch up he slowed down and made subtlety his focus. After another moment, he stood up and just walked, dropping the stealth attempt. He addressed Justice from just behind her.
"You know, I was going to cover your eyes and go with a corny pun about justice being blind, but then I realized that sneaking up on someone like us probably isn't the smartest idea is it?"

Justice jerked in surprise, whirling around to face Damien with a look somewhere between surprise and horror. With her turn, her black hair spun with her, strands falling haphazardly over her shoulder when she faced him. "You snuck up on me." She said, and the impossibility of it showed in her voice. She thought she would have sensed him, especially since she'd been trying to avoid him. It didn't seem, however, that he had come here for her. Or maybe he had. "What are you doing here?" She asked, trying not to sound like she was prying when she was.
Surely he'd felt the dark things, too. Or, perhaps, someone had told him about them. She didn't know if he had the same senses that she did. She was part of the darkness, so she could always feel it in the back of her head. It was always a sort of temptation, constantly tugging at her gut. Part of her wanted to murder someone, the other part of her just wanted to get out of town and find someone willing to feed on. Maybe she should try animal blood. She almost stuck her tongue out at the thought, but Damien was still in front of her.

"What am I doing here? Well don't sound so happy to see me." He chuckled as if to play it off like it was nothing, though it did bother him that this was her reaction to seeing him. It had been a while since he'd last seen her but he didn't think anything that had happened should warrant him being regarded negatively. He tried to put that worry behind him for the time being. "I'm, looking for something, or, I was until I got just slightly partly maybe a tiny bit lost." His face flushed red briefly. He hated to admit he was lost, even to himself.
After a moment or maybe an eternity, he reached into his pouch, grabbed one of his remaining apples and bit into it, a simple way to regain his composure. That, and he was still hungry. He was about to grab the other and offer it to her when he remembered that, if she was hungry, an apple wouldn't help. He continued after he finished his first bite, "I don't suppose you've seen a particularly ornate golden key anywhere around?" He took another bite as he waited for her reply.

Her face turned a pretty shade of red when she realized how rude she'd been. She was horrible at being polite, and she'd genuinely thought he was looking for her. It was obvious now that he hadn't been.
She shook her head in regards to the key, having not seen much in her stay here. "I can't say I have." She told him honestly, trying to look more relaxed and into the conversation. Truth be told, she had missed his company. "How have things been going with you?" She asked, hoping these things were the right things to say. The slightly pained look on her face now was from thinking too hard about the conversation rather than his actual presence. She hoped she was hiding it well.

Damien couldn't help but grin as she blushed. "That's a shame. Would have saved me some time. You know, for how ornate this key supposedly is, it sure is hard to find." He let the thought go and decided he could worry about finding it some other time, it was sure to turn up eventually. He just hoped it wouldn't turn up under dangerous circumstances.
He took another bite of the apple and smiled, happy to entertain more casual conversation, "I've been good. Had a nice break after Calibar was banished. Got to relax a bit. It was a nice change of pace, albeit a little boring." He took another bite. "How about you, how've you been? Mind if I tag along with you wherever you were headed?" He'd hoped she wouldn't but didn't want to be interrupting anything if she did.

Justice covered her mouth to stifle a laugh when he mentioned Calibar so lightly. "You were just bored because you didn't have me around." She said jokingly, glad to see that he'd been relatively okay.
When he mentioned where she'd been headed, her whole body seemed to turn red from embarrassment and she stammered a bit. "I.. well... I was..." she looked down, feeling somehow ashamed. "I was actually headed to go find some food." She admitted, rubbing the back of her head. She didn't necessarily care if he followed her, but she didn't think he would want to. It seemed like a very awkward thing to be a part of and she wasn't sure that, if she wasn't a vampire, she would find the experience very pleasant.

Damien grinned wide at the joke, he liked when Justice got cocky, but more so he liked that she'd managed to relax a bit already. "That is true. You know I don't know what to do without you around." he poked sarcastically.
He raised an eyebrow as she stammered, he was worried for a moment about what she was going to say but relaxed when he heard that it was just food. His first reaction was to chuckle at her for feeling awkward about it but he held back out of politeness. "Sounds like a plan to me." He finished his apple and tossed it, "Lead the way M'lady." He bowed slightly holding a hand out for her to take the lead.

She was genuinely surprised when he told her he was fine tagging along with her to find food. Generally speaking, vampirism was frowned upon, so she was unused to the idea of people being okay with it. However, there was a point in time when Damien paid her with blood, so maybe she shouldn't be so surprised at all.
She cracked a smile at his polite gesture, continuing her walk down the street while keeping an eye out for a willing subject. Usually she tried to stay on the fringes of whatever town she was in, so that she was less out of the public eye. Willing or not, she had been accused on more than one occasion of some sort of trickery. Not that she didn't have the power to trick someone into giving her their blood or just outright taking it, but she prided herself on not having to resort to going so low.
When they got closer to the edge of town she finally spotted a target. There was a young man leaning against the wall of a small shop. He didn't look much younger than Justice, but his eyes were shadowed with distress like he'd been having a day or had fallen on bad times. These were the types of people Justice liked to pick for their food because they were easy to persuade and they usually felt a sense of relief after she was done.
Having made her decision, she didn't even look to see if Damien was still following her. She was hungry and she was on a mission. The cat that had been following them seemed to know this too, because he ran ahead to brush between the man's legs and purr.
