Malodore took a deep breath - it didn't need to, strictly speaking, but the act was calming and centering. Fear, was it? Well... It could work with that. The plague doctor gathered itself and focused. Fear...

Malodore closed its eyes. A slow mist began to rise around its feet, seeping under the hem of its coat. The miasma tingled with ill intent - literally. When the plague doctor opened its eyes, it smiled grimly and pointed at their opponent. The miasma gathered itself and floated forward to engulf the target... Where it might, perhaps, induce a vague feeling of illness as the power took effect.

Ren shrugged at Gabrian's question. "Like Jacking hell I know what's going on," he answered, eyebrows drawing together as he surveyed the nix. He was surprisingly relieved to see him; it was already difficult to maintain a position of defense while trying to keep both Alessa and LW from harm, and Gabrian was relatively strong - mostly - and was, at the very least, another person to help watch over the ghouls. Not that he didn't think they could defend themselves; Ren already knew that both of them were strong-minded, determined individuals who were willing to fight, but his protective instincts over both his ghoulfriend and best friend far outweighed their abilities to fight. And he would have felt much better about the entire situation, had not he found himself, quite suddenly, slammed to the ground by some invisible force.

"Jack dammit - !"

It wasn't the worst of the swear words to come falling out of Ren's mouth; most of the more obscene ones were lost among the shouts and confused panicking of the students around him. Ren's fingers, back to being humanized, searched the ground for Alessa or LW, even Gabrian. They closed around a slender wrist, and a small swell of relief filled him as he found himself looking at Alessa's worried face. He pushed himself to his feet, pulling her up with him, and stumbled a bit, glancing around and spotting LW and Gabe a few feet away.

"Still alive!" he called, giving them both a mock salute and a grin as he staggered over towards them with Alessa. He had only gotten a few steps, however, before there was a low rumble, the ground shuddering, and Ren was suddenly thrown backwards with the force of a javelin as the same invisible something swept him off his feet. He lost his grip on Alessa, flying several feet backwards, and with a sharp hiss, his wings shot out in an attempt to brace the impact, slow himself down. It worked, for the most part, but it did not stop him from crashing, quite painfully, into one of the trees.

"Jack....dammit..!"

His head had cracked against the bark, a small trickle of blood sliding down his face, but for the most part (minus a few bruises and scrapes) he was relatively unharmed. Ren staggered to his feet, wavering slightly as a wave of dizziness hit him, but he pushed himself forward, trying to move back to the other three. It took him a few moments to find out where they were, relief coursing through him that they were all still standing (albeit a bit unsteadily).

"Use our FEAR, mmmm..?" Ren muttered, half to himself, half to the others, swiping damp hair from his face. "Fine then, Circe. Or whoever you are."

He had not used his abilities in quite some time; he felt rather rusty, but at the same time a surge of determination and exhilaration rushed through him. Ren felt a smirk tug at the corners of his lips. Although his Fear was mostly defensive, rather than offensive, it wouldn't hurt to use it, would it?

<< "Wings," >> he said, voice low and steady, the strands of Fear lacing through his words like ribbons. The feathers of his wings trembled, one of them falling off, then another, each of them hovering in the air around him like tiny pointed daggers. << "Shall we fly..?" >>

With a hiss, the feathers spun towards their opponent, whistling through the air. Most unfortunately, his aim had been off, and the feathers fell uselessly to the ground, Ren letting out a few more choice swear words.

"Dammit!" he snapped, dropping the Fear from his voice as he stepped closer to Gabrian, Alessa, and LW. "I just can't seem to catch a break with this Jackdamn thing, can I?"

Something snapped. Riley wasn't sure exactly what she'd just heard, but it sounded distant and unimportant. She was unaware of just exactly how much blood she'd lost from a head wound she couldn't even feel anymore. All that mattered was that she could feel it.

It filled her with an enthralling sense of power. Her eyes rolled back and fluttered closed, and all the damage her body had taken was irrelevant. Her mind was in control now.

And her mind had just been given a pretty decent power-up.

There was no fancy show. No special effects that flew out of her. Visibly, there was nothing. Still, Riley's psionic attack crept into the mind of the attacker, and viciously ravaged it.

Physically, her body slumped and fell lifeless - it was useless at a time like this. Her mind was it's own entity, slicing away at the mind of the attacker.

Another moment and Sepheran felt himself being smacked to the ground like a useless fly. He hissed, useless...he hated that feeling the most. A blind baslisk, he was called useless by all his friends and family back home. He came here to change that didn't he?!

Taking a deep breath Sepheran stood up his injuries from the beating he was receiving was starting to effect him, he could feel it. This thing...no he wasn't going to lose, he will show everyone just how useless he could be.

Hissing he could feel his power grow, his fear seeming to react to the pendant. Sephy could feel his fear wrap itself around him like Liannan did everyday. It slithered it's way before being sucked into his hands his nails growing out sharper and giving a green glow. For a brief moment Sepheran could see, not in the normal sense, but he saw with all his senses. Liannan wasn't needed. He knew just where to strike, he knew where everyone was, his classmates and the mysterious figure, he could see the spot to hit and so he bolted forward hands flicking out and striking like a snake backed in a corner before this effect wore off and his senses dulled once more. This was it, do or die and Sepheran had no thought of dying today.

The hunchback was unsure whether his attack had done any good at all as he tore his fear-mutated hand away from the shadowy figure to roll back to what he hoped was safety. He had seen his Mistress collapse out of the corner of his vision, and crawled frantically towards her, first calling out to her mentally, Mistress? Mistress are you harmed! She certainly looked worse off than he did, limp on the ground beneath the tree she had been crouched in. Oh.... oh fear oh Hell, oh.... Panic gripped him as he reached out with a gnarled, clawed hand to gingerly shake her, breathing in quiet panic, "Mithtreth!"

He glanced around frantically, eyes wide with terror that seemed to sap the fear from his arm, his hunch slowly losing it's spines. Malodore was busy attacking the shadowy figure, it's miasma doing something at least- but the Igor had no idea what to do.

It seemed that his flaming rock had hit the stranger fairly squarely, but something caught his attention. Riley wasn't too far off and Jericho just saw her suddenly slump over without any indicator of an attempt to attack. Christof had reached her first, and while he couldn't understand him completely...

Wait. Christof spoke? Last he recalled his mouth was stitched shut. Well, it didn't matter a whole lot right now; he could dwell on it later.

Quickly, he made his way to the two and crouched down by the fallen Mindflayer. She looked exceptionally still, and that was unnerving. If she had taken too much damage, shouldn't she have disappeared to respawn in Nurse Cricket's office or something like that? It didn't help that her body looked like a mess right now. She wasn't reacting at all to the shaking either.

"Christof!" he barked at the patchwork, "What the Jack happened to her?"

A chill ran down his spine as he was anticipating the worse out of this situation. But... it wouldn't happen? She couldn't just die here... right?

Annoyed. Other than worried for Hadiyya, that was most certainly the most prominent emotion running through his system. Shuddering, he felt the wave of FEAR hit him, and the surge of power caused him to become almost giddy, the sensation a rather heady one. "Ah..." Hands shaking as he had all of this power, and was quite uncertain how to use it, he turned his palm upwards...his rapier forging itself from his clawed hands, and he grasped it, tendrils of acidic smoke wafting from the blade. Leveling it towards their opponent, he struck out towards him, the acidic properties brought on by fear causing the weapon to hiss softly as it was thrust through the air.

Alas, the nergal boil was unsteady, and the blow was glancing at best...all but stumbling back, his fingers clenched all the more tightly about the hilt of his weapon, unwilling to let it go now that it had materialized. Panic suddenly arose as he realized that if all of his fellow students were so effected...that Yaya... Turning to her, wide green eyes tried to assess her situation as well. Hopefully, she would be a touch more capable than he.

West was flung onto his back this time, but unlike earlier, he didn't get up so quickly. He propped himself on his elbows and watched as their assailant gave them all a lecture on FEAR, his expression growing angrier and angrier by the second. What in the hell was this? Where did this a*****e get off telling them they were weak and untrained? They were in school weren't they?

The figure's strange pendant began to flash. All at once, a vaguely familiar feeling of calm washed over West and he visibly cringed. It was to his benefit that no one else likely gave a crap what he was doing. It meant no one saw his reluctance. No one saw his disgust. As the students around him resumed their fighting, West got up... again... and flexed his good hand. He knew what that feeling meant, that vaguely anticipatory itch under his skin. It was his FEAR.

The demon's power was meant to stun, meant to consume his target with boiling rage, West's rage, so suddenly that they would lack the ability to fight back. He hated his power. It so casually gave his anger away, leaving him weak and small and agreeable. Average.

He debated not using it at all, but that just wasn't his style. West clenched his fist, then raised it in the air. Within seconds he lowered it again, his knuckles glowing an angry, pulsing red. His breath hitched. He panicked. With a pained hiss, West extended his arm toward their mysterious attacker, but his shot went wide, the misty ball of wrath veering off into the trees. Well, that sucked.

Once more the breath was left her lungs in a high pitched hiss as she was lung back for the second time, and she fell to the ground in a writhing, breathless bundle. Candle jack that hurt! She'd taken hits in Christmas Town, most notably a blow to her head that sent her vision streaming, but this was different. This was like so many blades slipping past protective ribs to tear her lungs to useless shreds. By the time the pain passed, the poor djinn was panting, high and frantic. Rolling up on hands and knees, eyes shut tight.

Vaguely she was away of the figures voice, taunting them, ridiculing, egging them onwards. And with those biting insults came a rush of FEAR unlike any the marid had felt before. Like the buzz of magic against her skin, the ghoul could feel that boundless power tingling, just below the surface. Like a battery.

Vibrant eyes were a blaze with blue fire as dark lids parted, eerie shadows cast in Mediterranean hue against cheeks and brow. Slowly, Yaya stood, feet apart and a little unsteady, but upright, her hands held out before her, palms mirroring each other. Calling the water was easy. She had the innate skill by blood, but her her class on magics had made it infinitely easier. Energy channeled, the djinn closed her eyes once again and focused, drawing moisture from the air itself to the palms of her hands. FEAR was riding her though, and at a thought the ghoul split the fluid, marble sized drops dancing at the tip of each slender finger.

She strode forward past the cover of underbrush until nothing stood between herself and her target, glowing eyes trained upon that unyielding figure. As Sharra slipped back to her side, she made her move. Hands pulled close to her chest before flinging out to cast the "bullets" of water at their attacker. Five hit, the impact enough to bring welts to the skin, make a person stagger.

That had felt.. incredible. Absolutely electrifying. She turned to catch her boilfriends eyes, dark features lit with pride at her accomplishment, only to waver where she stood. Dizziness washing over her along with an all consuming feeling of being drained. She'd exerted herself, over done it. As the glow faded from blue eyes the water djinn fell, falling foward onto her knees before letting gravity carry her to the ground. Unless someone caught her first.

And Sharra was just in time to catch the best part of that performance. Utterly transfixed, he watched her light up, the marid at her finest as she leveled her watery projectiles at their haughty adversary. Though he himself was aching, still rather off-kilter from the adrenaline-like rush of FEAR, he allowed himself to be mesmerized as he swayed unsteadily on his feet. Goodness, but she was a lovely thing indeed...fully alight in battle.

And then she turned to him, and he realized that she could not hold herself up any longer. "Yaya!" With a cry, he went to his knees, blade dissipating as he reached forward instead to catch her limp form, the weight of her nearly causing him to topple as well...saving the both of them from hitting the ground by only a fraction of a second...and then the demon boil was cradling the ghoul to his chest, brows furrowed with concern...wondering what that attack had taken from her.

Good Candlejacking hell this guy was annoying! Attack him seriously? What the Jack was that supposed to mean? But he'd mentioned FEAR, so the lightning dragon figured it was time to up the ante here.

Backing up a step or two, he snarled, fists clenched. Then he flung one hand out toward the figure and let loose a (smallish) lightning bolt. Somehow, though, it felt more powerful than what he could usually do . . .

Unfortunately, he wasn't used to handling that much power, and the bolt completely missed the figure. "DAMMIT!!" he yelled.

Draven was still getting up off the ground from the guys first attack when the second hit. When he did get up, he was sore. Whatever this guy could do, it hurt. Yet he was still taunting them. Calling for their FEAR.

He saw other students manipulate their fear and attack. They seemed to be hitting him, possibly doing damage. His help couldn’t hurt, though. Draven focused. Around his feathers, a light green flame began to appear. He continued to focus, trying to concentrate the flame to his fist. Amazingly, this worked. It had never really worked before…usually the only his feathers ‘burned’. But now, now it did what he wanted it to do. Draven wasn’t going to argue. He had no idea how long he could hold it, so he lunged at the figure, attempting to hit it again.

Trying to keep her cool, Alcyone wanted to know who this pair was exactly. It was like they were testing them or something and it seemed like the students were failing at this point. She was feeling absolutely miserable and then all of the students were knocked to their feet. She needed to snap out of it and take this opponent more seriously because they all really were getting beat up. She didn't know what to do at this point since it seemed as if physical attacks really were not helping.

Fear? Though it had been awhile since she had used her fear, it was just something you couldn't forget. What was that strange pendant? She felt the rush of power inside of her but she was still hesitant. Needing to believe in herself, Alcie closed her eyes and searched somewhere inside of her.

Feeling a surge of strength inside of her, Alcie felt a familiar pressure building up in her head. Her fear was almost like a mind game which would hopefully damage their opponent or at least distract them. She could cause others to feel as if they were drowning or at least struggling to breathe similar to the feeling of claustrophobia. Even though she felt herself attempting to do this, she realized that it wasn't affecting their opponent at all and that she had probably done no damage at all. This was it. Her stamina was beginning to give out and she could only hope that the other students were more successful.

Again, Astra was subjected to the unknown forces that were plaguing everyone else, and was slammed into the ground. It was alot harder for her to get up this time, barely managing to get to her feet. It felt like her body had been hit with a bat, but she didn't feel like complaining. She had seen Jericho run over to Riley, and appeared more injured then she was. So much in fact that it had caused Christof to speak. What was up with that?

And then, she saw the pendant around the figured neck start to glow, and she could feel Power seeping into her body. It was a invigorating feeling, so much that she felt that she may be able to use her staff for more then just clubbing.

Holding her reaper weapon in front of her, she focused the extra power into the staff, feeling it began to vibrate with the excess energy, before she pointed it towards the figure. Her staff then shot out a stream of energy that seemed to envelop her target. Normally it would of just made her opponent feel much short, but this time it added a oppressive feeling to it, as if they were being crushed.

The shockwave did another wonderful job of knocking the easily unbalanced girl off of her backwards feet. Once more she was looking at the sky, and once more she noticed another nasty gash on her person upon getting up; this one was on her back...while she couldn't see it, she could feel it there like one would feel a tear on a tight fitting shirt.

She must have spaced since then; all she knew is that suddenly, she felt stronger. A lot stronger. It was a weird surge of energy that flowed through her that was enough to make her borrowed skin crawl. There was a restlessness, a need to move; she had to try. Her FEAR usually meant aiding her in escaping an attack by moving fast enough to block or get out of the way; this time, with this enemy, moving to escape didn't seem right.

Amrita took a single step; at least she thought it was a single step. All she knew was that she was suddenly much, much closer to their attacker, probably only a foot or two away. It seemed too natural for her to question it too much, but she had enough time to scoop down to pick up a rock, and in a less than fluid motion threw it at their opponent.
