My boyfriend got me two knitting books for Christmas so I am dying to get started on a million projects. I want to do an intarsia blanket using patterns from this Colors of Australia book, and I have some alpaca I want to make into a sweater from Haiku Knits.

Does anyone have suggestions for yarn for the blanket? I don't want it to get, like, super-heavy/stretchy.

Oh! That just reminded me that I got a knitting calendar... I was going to be all ambitious and actually follow throughout the year with it, but I'm getting arthritis just thinking about it! lol

Acrylic is typically good for blankets as its super easy care. If you don't want to go with that, try a wool or a wool blend. It will be harder to care for (like when it comes to washing) but blankets typically don't get washed quite as much as say, a sweater. You can also look for superwash wool too. I would avoid cotton for it though, as cotton is heavy and not as elastic.

Current projects......Well, let's just say I've bitten off more than I can probly' chew! I just finished a scarf for my nephew, cast on and finished a hat for a soon to be born neice, cast on a dolly for same neice, and I am working (designing) a knit cupcake pattern. Plus i need to cast on and mail things for a swap I am participating in. The rest of January will be "Busy, busy, busy!"

Well for my sanity we're just going to pretend that there aren't a billion WIPs hidden in my closet and say I'm currently working on a graduation gift for my friend and my first pair of socks.

Ah yes, the curse of the billion WIPs. Part of the reason I have so many is I keep seeing and thinking of things I or someone else just can't do without. The other is sometimes I get sad when I finish a project because then it's no longer there to work on. I'm currently working on another garter stitch scarf (I swear I am addicted to them, since I have at least a dozen and keep making them), a circular shawl that was supposed to be a half circle but the pattern was written wrong (it's all cool though, it'll still work out nicely), and a couple new spinning projects, one is norwegian wool and the other is alpaca. Alpaca yarn is so yummy to spin. *dreamy sigh*

Oh I completely feel your pain! I get so sad when I finish projects! I also keep starting new things that make me think of people or a new yarn I just have to play with. I had such a hard time finishing the last shawl I made since I spend so much time on it.

A friend at work would like me to make her two Baby Dragons
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=38622325
for Easter. Any color.

Working on a green one now. Would sort of like to make a pink one. Or orange with red. Not sure.

I'm making these armwarmers for myself. >.< It's been a while since I've made something just for me. I'm making them in pink and grey.

I hope so! The pattern's a little big for me, though. If I ever make them again, I'll take in a few stitches.

I started an actual fancy pants lace shawl, and I'm two repeats and garter stitch border from the official end of the pattern. It's one of the half circle shawls in Traditional Knitted Lace Shawls. I am having loads of fun with it. Might try to make it bigger though, as it seems like its not going to be very big once it reaches the end of the official pattern, but it includes notes on how to keep going to make it bigger. If I decide that, lets hope I can decipher it. xd

I finished knitting those mitts, and now I'm crocheting a pair for my sister.
