"It is hard for anyone of the Maboroshi to master each consecutive stage, but Haru seemed to do it with much more ease than previous clan members. But then again, she did have me as her teacher." He laughed a bit. "But then again, Haru is much younger than most stage-two users, so that could be a factor as well."

Geneki was now in range of Haru, for him anyway. He was a long and mid-range fighter, as Haru was close-range. For her to be successful in landing a hit, she'd have to be able to get close to him and as for their current positions, she was no where near close enough to him in order to do that. Though what Genkei did not put into his calculations was her activating of the second-stage of Kurogan, which he could not see. In fact, because of the Kurogan's stage development, none other than the user or other Kurogan users could tell the difference. But the real obstacle was the barrier she had placed around herself. While it was protecting her from his attacks, she was also cut off from attacking him. To do so, she'd have to leave her barrier, which would also leave her vulnerable to a mass attack from his creatures.

"Too many factors, and not enough time to study them. Besides, Kurogan is too intricate to try and study, as each member is different in how it develops."

He nodded and with ease, his entire eyes went black, and then small white rings formed in his eye, almost like a scope that was getting narrower and narrower until they formed the size of a small pupil. He could see all forms of light, had zoomed vision (on the cellular level), and could see the flow of electricity through each of the Genin bodies. "Well, it looks like Haru has sealed herself in a barrier of electricity that fries Genkei's ink creatures, yet she has barely moved much. And Genkei, well he advanced on her but he is still out of Haru's striking range. He knows if Haru is able to land a couple critical blows, it will be over."

"Are you being worried for Hijima about his partner, Himo?" He asked while his Kurogan deactivated.

Midou looked uneasy. "Well, Hijima has been my podigy. I take to him like butter to bread. He wasn't as strong as Nayumu, but he was just as smart or smarter. I'm sure we can expect great things of him. He gave up in his first Chuunin Exam, and he told me why. He is tactical. He went there to learn and not to win."

"Even if he isn't the winner, he still stands a chance," Himo said calmly. "Our Village, though weak in power and few in numbers are still strong."

"That is certainly true," Himo agreed. "You have strength and numbers. Grass only has strength."

"What are you going to do, Genkei? Throw more ink at me? I'm not afraid of you."

She left the safety of her barrier and ran at Genkei, several kunai orbiting her body. Her merciless black eyes narrowed as she hurled the knives at him and the birds, ready to slash them to pieces. The second level Kurogan was more intense than she remembered it being. It was a strain on both her eyes and her mind, but she pressed on, enjoying the power it lent her. Maybe if she could destroy the birds, she could make contact with Genkei and end the match. The air around her crackled with static electricity as she charged her chakra for an attack.
