*Bard fishes around behind the bar until he finds an electric teakettle. He fills it with water and sets it to boil. After a couple minutes searching he despairs of finding tea, until he notices a small basket under the bar. He fishes out a couple individual packets*
Ah ha! Earl Gray! *in a posh British accent* Tea. Earl Gray. Hot.
*he grins at Maggie only to realize sheepishly that he has no idea what he's talking about*
A very important man immortalized those words. One of the finest captains ever to... well it doesn't matter, really....
*The electric teakettle begins to whistle loudly*

*Even though the joke is lost on her, Maggie can't help grinning back at him* A captain? *she echoes, ready to ask more, when the tea kettle goes off. She starts visibly at the sudden noise* Oh, heavens!

*Bard unplugs the tea kettle* Sorry about that. They do get a trifle noisy.
*He takes two mugs from a shelf and fills them with hot water, then puts a tea bag in each. While the tea steeps, he fishes in the refrigerator for milk or cream and to his satisfaction finds a bottle of half-and-half. He also finds a container of sugar*
*After a few moments he removes the tea bags and sets them aside. He puts cream and sugar in his tea* You don't have to drink it with cream and sugar, of course, but some people find it too bitter without. Would you like some?

*Bard prepares her tea just as he did is own. He hands her the mug* The cream's cooled it a bit, but you should still be careful.

Thank ye. *She accepts it, cradling it carefully in her hands. She gives it a few moments more before taking a tentative sip*

*Maggie takes another sip before smiling back over at him* I confess, I half expected it te taste like that dreadful brew my mother used te make up whene'er one o'us caught a chill. *she laughs a little* But 'tis actually quite good.

*Maggie's smile takes a wistful turn as well. She looks off at some point in the distance and reaches for Bard's hand again, feeling sad and fortunate all at once.*
She would like ye, I think. *The thought occurs to her so suddenly that she says it the moment it enters her mind. She looks back at him, suddenly almost self-conscious about it, to explain* My mother, I mean. I think she would like ye very much.

*Bard squeezes Maggie's hand* I can't help but think that I would like her as well.
*a moment later, he adds* Would you tell me about her?

I hardly know where te begin .. . *Maggie looks down at her tea and lets out a noise somewhere between a laugh and a sigh. She knows she's told him a little about her before, but only a fraction of all she wishes she could share with him*
There were so many little things, little moments . . . that just added up tegether te who she .. . *she wavers, unsure which tense to use* to who she is. Not that there were'na big things, too, but .. 'tis the little things that I remember the best.

Things like .. *Maggie grins at the first thing that comes to her mind* She could crack an egg with one hand. Just . .. tap it and break it clean without ever dropping any o'the shell inte what she was making. I dinna know how many times I watched her do it, but I could ne'er quite manage it myself.
*she laughs a little* Whene'er I asked her how, she'd just smile and tell me te wait 'til I had children.
