Even if I COULD explain it to you in a way that you could understand... It wouldn't be wise to discuss the matter with our current.. company. Let's just say that I put a lock on The Brink's door. One that's very difficult to crack.

*Luke glances over, more than a little annoyed that this conversation has been interrupted. Then, he sees Melliandra.*
*Speaking of impeccable timing and locks on doors. He looks back at Tavin. Every time he tried to talk to the guy, there was a distraction of some sort, wasn't there? Luke doesn't say anything about it, but he files it away.*
*Luke glances back and forth between Mel and Tavin. He needs to talk to Mel, but he needs to say one more piece to Tavin.*
Okay. Why can't we put locks on the other doors? To keep him out of everyone else's time?

The problem is no longer keeping him out. It's keeping him from reaching inside FROM the outside. The problem is... that at the same time that I'm figuring things out, he is as well. And there are a lot more of him.

I've only seen that many once. Before it was just him.
Why would he hold off?

Tavin would know better than I the rules his old friend plays by.

There's only one reason I can think of. He isn't as strong as he is leading us to think he is. As Melliandra just pointed out, if he WAS that overwhelmingly powerful, why HASN'T he just busted in and killed us all? It's the only reason that makes any sense. He can't.

*Tavin didn't see the way Karebana died, and he didn't see how many Seraphim came to do the job. Luke knows without a single shread of doubt - that that's bullshit. He could kill them any time he wanted.*
