Moonstone shrugged. "Special? No...just different I guess." He leaned back a bit. "My brother? yeah, he's here somewhere. He's living at the manor with the Oracle to stay near a girl her likes. He pretty much looks just like me, but he's black." His train of thought was interupted by a violent earthquake and a mild headache.
When the ruckus had finally come to an end, he picked himself off the floor, shaking off his wings. His office was a mess and he could hear the groans of those who had been tossed tot he floor from their beds and chairs.
"Holy mother of cats, Delaney. That wasn't you was it?" He didn't think she was that poewrful...but she could be, right???

Rusty woke up as he was getting blown off the groundby a violant earthquake. He quickly gained his balance only to lose it again at the shaking ground. He looked around quickly in confusion and spotted a tree. Maybe he could be safe there.
The feline jumped and clawed himself unto the tree's trunk firmly and didn't let go until the shaking had calmed down. He blinked a few times and retracted his claws. Once back on the ground he looked around to see cracks and splits in the ground around the tree's roots.
His eye were wide, ears back and tail staight as a pole until he finally relaxed to a semi-scared state. He curled up in a ball next to the tree's trunk and tried to fall asleep again.
As the earthquake came about Delaney felt her whole body collaspe to the floor she managed to curl herself in a ball and to hold her head tightly with her hands. She had a splitting headache and felt nauseous.
Once the earthquake stopped she relaxed a bit but still felt sick to her stomach and as if someone had split her skull in half with an axe. All she could hear was some muffled sounds coming from Moonstone's familiar voice and some random other noises that she couldn't make out.
She tried to lifted her body off the floor but failed as she was too weal to do so. She had never felt this bad in her like and unlike most people she had hardly ever felt any pain at all being heatly as she was.
Soon her eyes blurred out and she fainted.

Malik was in his study, and not happy at all. beyond pissed, homicidally upset. He pulled on every power he knew, every trick in the book, and nothing. no magic. he felt like a part of him had just gone missing, like someone had stripped him of his senses. Reports from his underlings confirmed it. all forms of magic were gone. no illusions, no runes, no necromancy, conjuration or wizardry. which meant defenses were down. things that should be moving weren't.
right now he was looking through books, feeling thier pages with a concentrated look. enchnated things were like lighthouses. the had power in them. but it wasn't the same. not a constant flow. stagnant. like it had pooled up but not be stripped.
Damn it. that ment the suppression spells were gone, and in a world devoid of magic his vault was like a god damned bonfire of power now. practically screamed 'come raid me'. First person to blame...Meilikki. this was her doing. her and all those gods damned worthless wretched surface bred humans and elves that were so god damned insistant on restoring a surface most of them never even knew about except in damned legends.
Malvolence's power was the only thing that could be kept constant. it transmuted blood into power through vampiric means..but that ment he'd always have to have the thing drinking on him to keep it empowered. and who knows how much it would need now without the natural energy to keep the balance. if it needed more than the relative trickle he fed it, then he wouldn't be able to really risk it becoming drained either.
Malik felt vulnerable. and that was dangerous. when malik felt like that, he was quick to strike at potential threats until he felt secure. adn right now, threat number one was that damned former oracle. cut her down, and those trying to follow her guidance for this ridiculous crusade would be stopped. then whatever the hell they did could be undone and the world would go back the way it should be.

Holding Malikhai's hand and pulling him along with her, she made her way downstairs and yes to Malik's study. Be damned if he was going to hole himself up in there and let the rest of them feel vulnerable without him. Pushing open his study door, she walked in with thier son and closed it shut behind him. He had that look about him. "I take it your're already far more aware of what's happening than I am...want to fill in the gaps for me?"
He off course ran to his fahter's side the moment they got there and he latched to his arm, holding tightly. He was not a happy little mixed elf at all. Daddy was the one to go to when things were scary like this.
Yeah, he hated walking over the damned underdark...he felt like such a target too...and he was in survival mode right now. Srvival mode Sevilin wasn't the most pleasant of creature. What made it worse was that he was looking out for Zahara and Zykariel too as they crossed the dark place that was all stirred up from the earthquake of earlier and subsequent abscense of magic. And yes he had killed a thing or two that got to close on the way over, but soon enough he was pushing open the front doors and making sure to pull them closed behind himself. Hellish underdark...now where were those damn D'vinns.

Zahara was slowly beginning to realize just how dangerous the Underdark truly was. Sure she knew it was an evil place but it was moreso without magic. Her protective instincts were up a hundred percent and she wasn't letting Zykariel out of her arms until they reached Twilight. Which meant that she had to rely on Sevilin to take care of anything that tried to eat them. It was amazing how much danger could be avoided by translocation. She'd never take that little ability for granted again. Although she could have achieved the same result by riding Faete but Sevilin didn't like horses and that's who they were traveling with. Stepping into the D'vinn's foyer, she set her son down and pushed back her hood. She snatched a servant and held a quiet conversation then nodded, turning back to the primordial drow. "The D'vinn's are down in Malik's study, Sevilin. What do you want to do?"

"that damned Oracle's assinine quest to restore the surface is responsible for this. and all magic is gone. all of it, save in already magically imbuded items, that apparently kept thier magical energies. which means if you really need a spell, you can drain something and make it worthless to do it. and right now I feel like getting on Ramoth and going to that manor and ripping her throat out through the back of her hipbone."
a slight snarl of a sound and he picked his son up, and threw open the study door and went upstairs to see Sevilin and Zahara there.
"you're staying here until this is overwith. even with magical defenses gone this is the safest place. I'll be gathering all the others that are outside in as well. We'll fortify this building with everything we got. without necromancy or runics, we're vulnerable to the orcish horde."

Oh boy, was he pissed...all snarls and in protective mode. At least he wasn't doing anything drastic...yet. Piper turned on her heel, following him back upstairs as he carried thier son up. "Sevilin called earlier, asking about things here, so I got a tad bit from him, said he was coming over." Before a moment of quiet. So all magic was gone...that wasn't too big of a thing to her seeing as she didn't use it a lot...but oh Malik. It was no wonder that he wasn't happy. But coming upon Sevilin and Zahara, he threw himself into commander mode...oh he could imagine the fight if Meilikki wanted her to leave any time soon.
Oh daddy wasn't happy. And though he made a sound or two and his voice was a bit loud that the child wasn't happy about, he still clung to his father's shirt. Mommy couldn't pick him up right now because her shoulder hurt, and he wanted to be held so he wouldn't mind his father's attitude.
A look to Zahara. "Malik's study is his own, thus we wait." And they didn't have to wait long, seeing as Malik made an entrance with son in his arms and wife on his heels. He merely gave a nod to the older tier'dal. "I have no objection to that...you at least have actual locks on the doors here." Which meant Zykariel was ten times safer from anything. "We're vulnerable to anyone taking the advantage or has realized one. Though if we're lucky this is plane wide and that means we at least don't have to worry about...more intelligent beings...trying anything too big." A frown. "But I may have to make a trip or two back to get things...came with the bare minimal." A shake of his head. "Alright then...first things first, what do we need to do around here."

"Get everyone inside. post breakers and gladitorial slaves around the perimeter and have them make reports every fifteen minutes. station archers on the battlements. once everyone is inside, we barricade the gates. get everyone settled in, and make sure our food stores and medical supplies are in good standing. I'll let Zahara work on that. Piper can see to getting people settled, you and I get this place ready to be under siege. we'll use the Zephmares as delivery boys, they can travel still by shadow or wind faster than we can."
keeping his son held.
"we'll then do inventory on the Vault. anything able to be sacrificed, we'll get to be prepared for short term spell usage. Nothing is going to harm my House while I have any means to defend it."

Sevilin gave a nod, easy enough to do, though then he blinked at Malik on his last statement. Things to sacrifice from the valut? Sacrifice usually involved animate things, not inanimate objects. Seemed someone had a one up on what was going on...Sevilin was still in the dark, he didn't like that...and especially since he was feeling like a dead battery at the moment.
"Sacrifice items for short term spell usage?" That was a wonderful sentence. "We can draw magic still from certain items?" Oh that would make him feel so much better. He was about to get all twitchy what with this lack of magic thing. Damn being more mage...
"I'll take Serino and do some rounding up." A breif thought on her horses as well...after all, some weren't as able as others right now and she be damned if anything was going to happen to her horses. She'd just make sure her stables were included in patrol rounds. A look to their son then...she could offer to put him in the nursery with Zykariel and have someone watch them...but somehow she had the feeling Malik would be reluctant to let go of that boy what with the paranoia spike. Thus a look to Zahara. "Come with me a minute." Heading back to her room a moment to get dressed. Figures the world goes to hell the morning she has a hangover.

He could take an educated guess at the blink.
"I was in my study when it hit. my books are enchanted to summon if they get lost, and they still retained the aura of thier magic. though it's like a pool to be drawn from, not part of a continuous stream. I have a vault of magical treasures raided and looted from places all over norrath and a few planes. I don't know how long they last or how much power they might have, but beggers cannot be choosers."
A glance around.
"Where is Zykariel. and anything you need feel free to use our stores. I don't want you going back to your home."

"I guess that's a spot of good news in an otherwise crippling to some situation. Maybe someone else has more information than we can figure than ourselves. We'll ration and such...see what we can sense out, maybe other things around here have that wonderful little trait to them. Not all pools run dry after all..." Well that made him feel a fraction of an ounce better.
"He's with Zahara...and quite upset as well over all of this." Though Malik was driving a hard bargain there. "I'm talking about things that no one else that could possibly take against us needs to get thier hands on." Surely that was worth one trip...even by Sevilin's standards. Hell if he had to take a horse to do it, he would do it despite his hate of horses.

Zahara opened her mouth object to Malik's orders that they not go back home but shut it when she realized she would just be ignored anyway. And she had to admit they were likely safer at Twilight than back home since their defenses depended entirely on runic alarms and traps. She nodded to Malik when he snapped out orders then her gaze went to Piper and she settled her son more firmly against her hip and grabbed Sevilin's arm. "I want Faete and the others Sevilin. And I need my medicines. And don't forget Rawr." Then she followed the surface elf up to her room. "How are you doing Piper? No horrible affects from my lecture?" Setting Zykariel on the bed she pet through his hair and then reached into the bag at her waist and pulled out a cookie for him. Handing it to the child, she sat down next to him and raised an eyebrow at her friend. "What's up?"

A trip to her closet to get herself dressed in some privacy...after all, did not need Zahara seeing those stitches...it was a fuss out she didn't want to deal with right now. Thus dressed now, in suprisingly muted colors and long sleeves, she walked back over to her, giving a pet to Zykariel as well. "I'm doing alright....no horrible side affects. But now that this has happened I think I'm more worried about my family than myself." A shake of her head. "Malik blames Meilikki for what's happened to magic...somehow I think he's going to fight me going on this little quest of mine now. I'd hate to fight with him right before I left..." She knew she would have to go. A moment of quiet and she looked to Zahara. "You going to watch the horses for me? We have that one ready to foal and such after all..."

Zahara nodded. She was learning really quickly what it was like to seriously worry about her own family. She was worried sick over Sevilin. Seeing him on the floor that morning had almost done her in. She turned her attention to her friend and sighed, "You knew he was going to fight you Piper. Malik hates you going off to do anything on your own. Especially something as dangerous as this undertaking. But he's also got to honor the deal that you made. That is why you're going, correct? You made some sort of deal with her about something or other?" she questioned softly before nodding. "Of course. I'll keep an eye on them and I'm moving mine back into your stables since my address has temporarily been changed. That's not a problem, right?"

"alright. one trip. but take a horse. those horses can still translocate themselves and thier riders to a destination. that way we get it done as quickly as we can."
Already clearing off a table and after setting his son down, gave that some thought before grabbing a slave.
"broog's chest. I want it brought up here with him, and I want Malvolence brought to me. and tell everyone outside these walls to make thier way here immediately. once they arrive, see to it everyone is given rooms. I don't care if they have to share them, get them rooms."
Letting that servant go and turning his attention back to Sevilin.
"anything medicinal in your home I want here. any weapons as well. there are three gnomish tinkering bags in the stables, piper uses them to store all the excess ropes and tack and such from her business. feel free to dump that out and get everything you need and anything that maybe useful even if it has a four hundred to one odds against."
