Zykariel woke up easily enough and scampered out of bed then plopped on his bottom as the house shook again. Thus burst into tears. "Mommy! Daddy!"
Zahara sat up and clutched at her head a moment. She had a devil of a headache...must have drunk more wine than she'd thought. But she heard whimpers and upset noises so she got out of bed and grabbed a robe then nearly stumbled over Sevilin stretched out in the fetal position, trembling. Resting a hand on his shoulder for a moment she squeezed. Something was wrong... "Sevilin?" Her head snapped up when Zykariel screamed again and she rubbed a hand over her face. What to do? She resolved to grab some blankets and throw them on the floor with a bunch of pillows, covering the bigger drow and petting through his hair. "I'll be right back." She stood up and walked into Zykariel's room, catching the little boy with a barely muffled 'oomph' as he launched himself into her arms. Sitting on his bed for a moment, him in her lap, she pet through his hair and gently rocked him. "It's alright Kariel. Just an earthquake but it can't hurt you." She heard her glasses and plates rattling downstairs and there was a mighty crash. Sevilin was going to love that, wasn't he?
"Mommy...I feel icky and I didn't even do magic..."
"Do you?" So he felt icky. This was getting a little too strange for comfort. She lifted the child and walked into Sevilin's room, settling on the thrown together pallet she'd made. Zykariel was curled up in her lap and she was sitting next to Sevilin, still petting through his hair lightly even while her head pounded.
"Mommy?" Frightened child voice. "What's wrong with Daddy?"
"He just...feels icky too. He'll be alright..." she hoped. "Sevilin? Tell me what's wrong..."

He was quiet for what seemed like a long time as he laid there on the floor, just being still and shallow breathing, his pupils dialated from some understanding of his that he was trying to grasp and deny all at the same time. He knew the feeling now, knew what it meant and it didn't please him at all. Come back...come back come back come back...but unlike sessions where he was trained in to recognize this feeling, the good one wasn't coming back at all.
Sevilin almost had that wild animal in a cage look to his eyes now but he remained still. No. No this wasn't happening....there was no reason for this to happen. It was a blip that was all. Come back. A few minutes passed where he didn't even acknowledge anyone near him until he finally stirred and sat up, earthquake shaking long over by this point. He held up shaking hands, staring at them with that same wild look and made a motion with his fingers that would be runic...nothing. One hand was placed to his chest as if he was feeling his heart, but he wasn't searching for that feeling. "It's not there..." All those runic energies that he had laced through himself...had up and disappeared.

Zykariel had felt his own little well dry up and that was part of the reason he was so upset yet he wasn't making much sense, more just sobbing incoherently into his mother's chest.
She was still rocking him, gently and wishing she had some idea of what was going on. "See? The earthquake passed and you're fine little one." She continued to pet through his hair even as violet eyes turned to look at the larger drow beside her. He didn't look so good and he wasn't making much sense either. "What's not there, Sevilin?" She hated to go downstairs and see the damage that had been done. Zahara's body had recognized the lack of magic but wasn't communicating it to her brain just yet. She didn't use magic enough to feel the loss instantly and her attention was too focused on the others around her for it to sink in. Thus, she was quite confused.
He glanced up at his father and reached out a hand, still curled up in his mother's lap, his eyes filled with tears. "It's gone Daddy...bring it back." Because Daddy could do that. He could do anything.

Okay, let's be honest...Sevilin was dependent upon his runes. Ever since he had learned them, moreso since he mastered them and thus further since being here, he used them in everyday life, he used them to life, work, even when he was relaxing or doing something simple such as playing with his son. Yes, the wolf had been backed into a corner and cornered animals were highly dangerous.
Wild red eyes looked up to Zahara as she asked on the matter, she didn't feel it? Then again she had given up runes quite a time ago, only implored them when she felt the need too, which was rare. Thus why runic students had to be dedicated or they got nowhere. "My runic energies...they're gone..."
His breathing had hiked a bit almost as if he was on the verge of wanting to hyperventalate, again looking at shaking hands in more or less disbelief. Come back...it'll come back it jsut needs time. But his attention snapped to his son, reaching out to him and taking his little outstretched hand, before trying to draw energy out of his self and regather it....wasn't working.

Zahara blinked both at the look in his eyes, his tone, and his words. Sevilin's runes were gone? That was very very bad. But then he worked with Andallian runes so maybe it was just a blip. Perhaps something had gotten shaken up with the earthquake. But that wasn't right. She turned her attention to her son. "What's gone Kariel?"
"My green ball inside. It's gone." He held up his other hand and concentrated just like Daddy had taught him, bringing his magic to the surface. He gazed at his fingers, concentrating but nothing happened. And he burst into tears again. "See? It's gone!"
Now Zahara was beginning to understand. If Sevilin's runic energies were gone that was possibly an isolated case but if Kariel couldn't bring forth his magic either then...could it be? She whipped out her dagger and flipped her palm, making a shallow slice then pressed her fingers to it and brought forth her own healing energies. Nothing happened. She stared at that thin line of red that began to drip slightly down her palm. "Oh no.." None of them had magic. No wonder Sevilin had been so upset. The dagger clattered to the floor a moment later and she buried her head in her son's hair. "It really is gone..." That cut on her hand proved it to her.

Okay so this was bad...very very bad. He shook his head, still trying to be in denial but it was a hard thing to deny...and he was feelings quite vulnerable. His posture was self protective at this point, that paranoid look in his eyes. Sure he was fine without it on a psyical survival level...but this was a whole new brand of survival for him. And it wasn't just him, it was Zykariel and Zahara as well...which meant this wasn't isolated. "All the runics. Just gone..." Okay trying something else...nope his base magic was gone too. "What the hell is going on?" Come on now...earthquakes didn't shut magic off...

"I don't know but I don't like it one bit." She brushed a hand over her palm, glad to see that the blood had dried and her body was quick at work taking over the natural healing processes. Another thought hit her. She had no more healing ability, Sevilin had no more runic ability...they were useless to Malik. The very jobs that they'd just gotten a huge payment for could no longer be performed. Were they going to be fired? How were they going to live? How was she going to keep her horses fed and settled. Had Malik and Piper lost magic as well? What about Malikhai? She picked up a blanket and wrapped it tightly around her son before cuddling him as her mind went through worst case scenarios. Steelwise if they watched what they spent and she toned down her cooking extravagancies they would be alright for a while. But who knew when magic was going to come back...if ever. They were just going to have to make do. Malik could still use their physical fighting skills and she was glad she'd kept hers honed.
Daddy was saying bad words. That was not a good sign at all. He snuggled deeper into the blanket and continued to cry. Why was his magic gone? Why did his parents look so worried? Why wasn't anything the way it was supposed to be?
"Hey baby, it's not that bad. We're just fine. And our magic will come back. Maybe someone is just playing a game with us to see if we can survive without it and be okay. That means they want us to be all upset and we're letting them win. You don't want them to win do you?" At the child's head shaking, she wiped his wet cheeks and kissed him. "It's going to be alright. I promise."

Well he was pissed to hell...though the sound of tears did grab his attention and he let himself settle a bit as he watched his son who was taking this rather hard. Eyes momentarily glanced to Zahara's own as she went about comforting the child. Scooting himself over, he reached into blankets and took hold of the child's chin and tilting his head up. "Hey, look at me."
Waiting for the child to do so before he said anything. "We'll be alright...there are some people who don't even have or can use magic...we're just on thier level for a while. I'm sure it'll come back in no time...no tears now." He was saying it to comfort himself...it better damn well come back or he felt he may get violent on whatever caused everything. "Trust me?"

He glanced up into his mother's eyes and then over to Daddy and nodded. "'Kay. But this means I don't get to play with my teacher no more doesn't it?" he asked sniffling.
Zahara pulled out a square of cloth and lifted it to his nose. "Blow." she said softly then folded it and wiped his nose before setting it on the nightstand. She'd deal with that later. "We'll worry about that later, okay?" They still didn't know if anyone else had lost magic though why would it only affect the Inthara household. That would just be too cruel for words. "Why don't we go downstairs and get something to eat?" And she needed to see just how much damage had been done to her kitchen. "Are you hungry?"
He glanced down at his tummy and nodded. "You're cooking isn't magic right?"
She smiled. "Nope, not magic at all. You'll still be able to eat my cooking." She lifted the child and handed him to Sevilin then went rooting through her bag for a potion. Her head was pounding something horrible. Ucapping the vial, she downed it and shook her head, leaning against her dresser for a moment before pulling on some clothes. She wasn't going to let lack of magic change her lifestyle too much. Then it was downstairs where she almost fell on the floor and cried even as glass crunched beneath her boots. Her kitchen was a disaster zone. Shattered plates and glasses littered the floor and counter and she stepped gingerly between the jagged shards. All of this was going to have to be replaced. There was wine and spices on the floor as well from where they'd been jolted out of their cabinets. Too upset to shout out a warning, she raced over and used her boot to clear a spot of glass and such before hitting the floor and picking up crumbling bits of now ruined clover and garlic and shaking her head. "No...no...no..." All of that was expensive.

Getting himself some boots on he picked up his son then then headed downstairs after her. He had been through enough earthquakes to know that you were most likely to step on something or other that had broke. Carrying the child he made his way to the kitchen. "I thought I rune locked those..." He had learned after the first earthquake with her in the house it was better to make sure everything stayed in it's cabinet.
"Than means it's not just us...but what was already placed as well." Though he held in a curse word and merely settled for an annoyed noise. "Twilight's defenses are down then if this blip has extended past here..." That was bad. Very very bad. Setting the child on the island counter he walked over to Zahara, placing a hand on her shoulder a moment before pulling her up. "It's okay, when this is over, I can rune those back together...and if not we'll get you new everything. Spices and such are easy enough to replace." Her cooking was like his cleaning. And oh gods look at the mess his house was now...

That didn't make Zykariel happy either. "Is Malikhai okay? Mommy? Daddy?"
Zahara snapped out of her melancholy state and shoved a hand through her hair. straightening her shoulders and taking charge. She wasn't going to let this break her. "It's all going to be fine. They're just dishes and spices after all. Easily enough replaceable." she echoed him then stepped into the liviing room and found her linkstone on the table where it usually was. Slapping it into Sevilin's hand she said, "Call them and check on them. If anyone else realizes what's going on, Twilight is in danger and it's part of our responsibility to help them." She put out a hand to Zykariel to keep him on the counter when he looked like he was going to move and walked over to him. "Zykariel, we're going to check on Malikhai right now. I need you to just stay right here and not move so you don't hurt yourself, okay?" Getting the child's agreement she began picking up the larger pieces of shattered debris. The broom would take care of the rest of it.
He nodded but pouted. "I want to help Mommy."
She didn't want him handling the broken stuff but she got an idea and pulled a book out of Sevilin's desk. Using a towel she brushed all traces of glass from one counter into the sink or on the floor and then walked over to her son. Picking the child up, she stepped gingerly and set him in the place she'd clared then handed him a book and a pencil and gestured to the open cabinets. "Kariel, how many plates do we have?"
He reached up and pointed with his finger as he counted. "Seven."
She opened the book and wrote plates then drew a small line and wrote the number seven down. "See what I'm doing? I need you to count up how much we have left that's not broken and write it down okay? But don't move from that spot." She grabbed a stool and brought it over, transferring the child to it so he could use the counter to write. "If you need help just call." Thus back to cleaning with her.

He looked at the stone slapped in his hand...watching it a moment. It felt different or at least he sensed there was something about it that was off. But he nodded, gripping the stone to activate it before looking to the little glowing crystal again. "D'vinns?"
Piper, still comforting Malikhai in the nursery, looked at the stone that was going off on a table there. Reaching over she grabbed the crystal, still soothing her son because he wasn't feeling well right now and was a little freaked out still. "Sevilin?"
"Is everything alright?"
"Just an earthquake...though something seems off. Why?"
"Check your runics."
Giving a blink at the stone she set Malikhai on the bed with a comforting kiss and walked over to a walk, waving a hand before it. Sevilin had put watcher runes in here...though she was surprised to not feel the tug of runics nor see anything happen at her gesture. "Did you undo the runes in the nursery?"
Sevilin cursed. "No...my runics aren't working, and neither is Zahara's magic. Yours?"
That was a disturbing thought now wasn't it? Thus she decided to give her magic a try. A good three minutes of that and it wasn't working...hm, that wasn't good. "I can't get it to work...Sevilin what's going on?"
"Something bad. We'll be over there in a bit." Thus clicking the link stone off and shoving it into his pocket, returning his attention back to Zahara. "We're going over there, get yourself properly dressed, Zykariel as well." Walking purposefully off to get himself attired and then get some extra things as well...no way he was walking across the underdark unprotected.
Piper blinked at the stone and returned to her son, setting it on a table in passing. That was not a good thing...not a good thing at all. "Let's go to daddy."

Zykariel was busy counting and writing it down but he glanced up. "Ask about Malikhai? Is he okay?"
Zahara nodded. "He's fine little one. Keep writing." She grabbed a broom and began to sweep the little shards and pieces of spice into a pile, before bending over and sweeping it all into the bag. There was no way she was leaving without putting her kitchen in some sort of order. Twilight was suffering same as them and she had no doubt Piper had her hands full with Malikhai and Malik. But soon enough her kitchen was better and Zykariel had a nice little list going. She praised him and then closed the book before picking him up and carrying him upstairs. "Come on baby, we need to get you all dressed." She handed him his clothes since he was going through the 'I can do it myself' stage and merely fixed what he didn't do correctly, answering those questions that she could. Hm, they might need to get the child his own chainmail just in case. Then taking the child's hand, she walked into her own room. Her whip joined her daggers on her person and she packed a small bag, with potions Piper would need on her journey and some other things as well, just in case. She swung a cape around her shoulders and one on her son as well then picked him up despite his protests. There was no way she was letting him walk across the Underdark and translocation wasn't an option. Standing by the front door, she nodded to Sevilin. "We're ready."

He was waiting for them at the front door, dressed with chainmail and his armor, his polearm slung across hsi back and his dagger on his belt. Like hell he was going to walk unprotected...pity translocation was gone...he would maim someone to have that back. But a nod to them and he pulled open the door, letting them pass before realizing that he wasn't going to have a lock on his home since his were runic and thsoe weren't working.
Stepping back inside he got a chair and rigged it up in that Sevilin way to act as a semi lock for the door, before heading out and pulling the door closed. A look to them both and around thier enviroment. Unforgiving underdark where things had breakfast on thier minds. "Come on, stay close to me."

One eyebrow rose when she caught sight of him though she didn't say anything. He was all decked out wasn't he? Looked like the soldier going off to war. She didn't laugh at his preparation as she stepped outside and shifted Zykariel on her hip. She'd never worried so much about the danger this big place presented. She'd feel better if they took Faete but she wasn't going to let Sevilin walk alone. Thus, she wrapped her cloak around her son to hide him from immediate view and whispered to keep him quiet.
