:::Kara nodded::: Just a few hundred square feet left on all of earth as we know it. Though our technology is working on creating fertile soil artificially.

:::She plucked a flower from her hair:::

These are the rarest thing in the world...

*Mystina tilted her head, trying to imagine that much land being all that is left* I... How horrible.

*She was at a loss for words, but she had an idea. She took the berry she had in her hand from earlier and handed it to Kara*

The seeds in this berry can grow in almost any environment, or at least, it should be able to, because it's infused with magic from Faerie. If you want, you can try it in some of your land... Even in a desert, it should be able to grow, as long as it has water. It grows into a beautiful red flower, and, into a fruit.

:::Kara's eyes widen:::

Are you serious? Even in the sands? :::She let the berry rest gingerly in her palm, and she glanced back and forth between it and Mystina:::

*Mystina nodded and smiled* We have a few deserts where Ifrits and other beings live. Sometimes our people go there to visit, and in some cases they can't tolerate the same foods... We needed a plant that would grow in harsh conditions and be able to survive, so we modified it with magic.

It's called a FireBerry, because it can grow in the hottest climates.

:::Kara shook her head:::

This... this is too good to be true. A fruit? That grows in the desert?

:::Right there in the palm of her hand. Now that her people knew about the Brink, they knew that she and Kal appeared there, an explination like 'I got this seed from the Fairy in the Brink' was acceptable. It was true, and it would work. It meant more food, more wine, more flowers, more ecological flourish. Kara laughed with the sheer amazement of it all. The itty bitty bead of life she held in her hand could do all that:::

Oh... fairy. Mystina. This almost makes it all worth it...

*Mystina smiled, she was happy that this made Kara so happy* Yes, it's all true. *She beamed* Maybe I should just carry some seeds around on me in case I see you, or Kal, and can give them to you. We have many plants that can grow in harsh conditions, some can even grow under the ocean!

Oh... :::She smiled for all the happy news though this bit was sad, humans were hundreds of years used to it:::

There are no oceans left. But maybe, even in the oasis! Heh. How amazing. :::She brought the berry up to her face and worshiped it with her eyes:::

I can't begin to tell you what this means for my people, Mystina.
PostPosted: Fri Sep 01, 2006 1:04 pm

*Mystina tilted her head, trying to imagine not having any oceans... Where would mermaids live if there were no oceans? Or the Selkies?*

I'm so glad to be able to help. *She smiled brightly, the thought of being able to help out these people who seemed to have lost so much made her incredibly happy*

Is there any place in here that I could drop other berries, nuts, or seeds off? Or, would I need to hand-deliver them to you? I can request my Mother send someone out to gather up the ones that would work. *She smiled, able to think of at least 5 off the top of her head that would work for this type of thing.*

My people might not be around in your time, but, at least something of us is able to be there, and help. *She nodded*

That- that would be amazing. I don't know though... where you could leave something like that in here. But try. Please. It would be beyond incredible.

:::The city isn't going to sleep for a week when I come back with this:::
PostPosted: Fri Sep 01, 2006 1:16 pm

*Mystina smiled* Okay, I will. Maybe in...a bowl or a cup on one of the tables? If it's just seeds, no one may mess with it, or mistake it for food. I'll leave some flowers with the seeds, that way you'll know! *She thought for a minute and had already started deciding what flowers she would leave with it, as a gift to Kara since she had mentioned that they were precious in her time*

:::Kara used her free hand to take hold of one of Mystina's:::

Carry them with you, so that you'll have them when you appear here. If we're lucky we'll appear at the same time. Otherwise I'll keep a look out for anything you leave here if it stays.
PostPosted: Fri Sep 01, 2006 1:20 pm

*Mystina nodded and squeezed Kara's hand gently* I'll do that, hopefully I'll just be able to hand them over to you. I like how you smile because of them. *She smiled at her* It makes me happy! *She bounced in her chair a little bit*

:::Kara smirked at this. Mystina reminded her of her younger maids:::

I'll smile all you want, just so long as you try whatever you can to bring me more of these and anything else!
PostPosted: Fri Sep 01, 2006 1:26 pm

*Mystina smiled and bounced a little bit more* I will! I want to help your people out as much as I can.

I know how much plants mean to us in my world... I can only imagine what they mean in yours.

I have a question... How did the Earth wind up the way it is in your time? *She tilted her head* What lead to such a thing?

Hmm... the protective covers of the trioxide gassious stratosphere dissolved and the sun burned everything away. Humans gave up on any idea of artificially reproducing the protective effects. They opted instead to conceal themselves in cities of hard metal and produce their nutrition with science. So they let the rest of the life on earth to scortch... this was many hundreds of years ago.

Only in the past couple decades have we developed a society appart from that.
