Jahoclave
You don't need my vote do you? I've been in St. Louis all weekend and I just got back a little while ago.

No; it's already 3:1 votes, so one more wouldn't actually make that much a difference.

How was St. Louis?
----
Anyway, I put up the issue. Link's in my sig.
Edit: Or rather, because my sig seems to be working a bit strangely in guilds, as followed.
Click the link. Read the posts. Comment on the issue. Thank you.

Thanks; I meant the submissions, but you can do it under critique if you want to as well.

GAH, I don't really know why I can't get the it's/its thing down yet. gonk

You know, I may start writing back-up reviews in case we have a major shortage of them. Mind you, they won't be incredible, but just as a last resort. xd

'kay. Could I just add a note in the Afterthought, just remarking on how Scary_Fairy = Scary Write-Bot 1500?

Because the it's/its thing wants to annoy you?
-----
What should I do if Rushifa doesn't get on, today?

Yeah, that'd be a good idea for the Afterthought.

And yes, because the it's/its thing wants to annoy me. xd

Issue published, and ignored.

I'm thinking this is getting to be rather pointless.

Well, the only people commenting on it (and if they don't comment, there's no way to measure who--if anyone--is reading it) are staffies, right? Submissions are slowing down/dying, not that we don't have a backlog of them left over. But if no one really reads it, it's starting to seem like it's not worth the trouble for each issue.

Hmm. More advertising? I know this is a good cause -- gets peoples' works out there. I could post a link to the submissions thread when it comes up, and a link to the published issue in my signature if that'll help any. And in my mini-collective's link list [or make one just for the 'zine].

Yeah, maybe.

How many people (staffies, I guess) are actually active in the forum, and not just in a certain thread?

I'm most active in the OP/L. Critiquing, Teh Ministry, etc.

Ah. I'm most active in the RR and the Q&A, although often found in a friend's art shop and Prisma's charity. I don't much like moving away from my mains.

*looks around guiltily* sorry guys, I know I'm lame for disapearing for a month crying I have excuses, mainly having to deal with school being back and sharing a comp with my roomate, but it general, I'm just a lazy a**. But, I'm back, and I'm going to try to make the Press more of a priority again. I've been really bad lately about neglecting my online responsibilities.

Ok, now, I shall attempt to make some actual feedback.

First off, I think I'm going to put my column on hiatus for awhile. I'm just not feeling it right now, I think I'll work better on it if I can store up some columns without a deadline looming. When I have 3 or more columns ready, I'll jump back on. I shall continue doing the reviews, though, and will definately be around more from now on.

Next up, I don't want the magazine to die! I think the problem right now is that the enthusiasm has worn off. I mean, we're not even all that into it any more. At the same time, I love it and don't want to see it die, so I think what we need is some revamping. Maybe we can redo the layout, make it look different, and maybe have some big contest (which we could advertise in the contest forum) to grab people's interest. I think we should also set up a Hiring thread (if we didn't already), and see if we can drum up some more regulars. Basically, lets toss around all those ideas we've had (having a store, reworking voting, etc), and see if we can't make the Press be seen in a new and different light. Let's not give up yet!

I'm still for the 'zine and all. But school's trashing me, I keep managing to get myself internet-grounded for attitude and behaviour issues, and both my patience and my ability to pay attention to anything longer than five minutes are pretty worn down. And I've been contemplating ditching everything, anyway.

Sorry I haven't been checking in lately. Football season's always busy for me because of band and everything.

Luckily, I had the foresight to put together most of this issue at the beginning of the month.

So, Rushifa's column is on hold. I don't think we have a review, so if anyone is interested, feel free. The Critic's Corner is especially interesting this go around.

Rushifa has some good ideas. Now to find the time to implement them. Maybe we should think of doing another Beyond the Box segment. Rushifa, if you have any ideas, or if you have something in mind Lilly. They're usually staff-directed.

Or, for an especially dangerous idea, make a Beyond the Box that gives tips on starting a magazine of your own. It would depend on whether or not you like competition. I wouldn't mind some, and I'm sure our readers would want more diversity. Of course, there's no guarantee any of them will succeed. It could be that we just lucked out.

Also, next month is NaNoWriMo, and I've signed up to try it. I don't know how successful I'll be, but...

Anyway, I was thinking we should get a head start on the next issue to make time for it. Or, make a NaNoWriMo themed issue. Wouldn't that be neat? Go around and ask for past NaNo pieces and put them in with little notes from the writers, describing their WriMo experience.

Feedback?
