Garreth had finished himself and got up from the table. "Thanks. I need to get my homework done." He then picked up his bowl and put it in the sink before leaving the kitchen and going upstairs to his room. Mari smiled and got up to put her bowl in the sink. Cyan remained in his chair and looked down at the empty bowl.

Cyan looked up and seen his father looking at him as if he was upset and it made him angry. Mari grabbed Cyan and Smash's bowls and put them in the sink before walking up behind Cyan and playing with his hair a bit. "Did you need to talk to us about something?" She kept a calm voice and was trying to calm him. He just remained silent and didn't say anything.

Once Smash left he stayed quiet a bit longer and started to talk. "I don't like being weak. Everyone else can fight. I can't. There's nothing that I can do, either. I start going into an attack if I work too hard. I hate it." Mari kept playing with his hair and listened. "You don't need to be a fighter to succeed in this family, Cyan. You make really great things on your own. I've even talked with Piers and he told me that you're doing so well in smithing." He turned to face her and cut her off, yelling a bit. "Anyone can make a stupid weapon!" She then cut him off and looked at him. "Then why are you the only one doing it in this family? Your father and Raine collect swords, but they have no idea of what work goes into making one. They don't know how much effort it takes to make something like that. It's an art and you should be proud of yourself for doing it."

He went silent and turned away from her, still sitting in the seat. Mari rubbed his shoulder gently and kissed him on the cheek. "I'm tired of trying to do the right things, but still getting my a** kicked. It gets me mad. Dad gives me that look like he can't stand me and I have you yelling at me about school." She sat down beside him and rubbed his back a bit. "I yell at you about school because you're not trying. If you put as much effort into your grades as you do into your apprenticeship, I wouldn't get angry. It's not the fact that you're getting horrible grades, it's the fact that I know you can do better. You're just not trying." He was clenching his fists and still somewhat glaring. "He doesn't like me because I'm not his little fighting prodigy like Garreth and Raine." Mari kept rubbing his back and patted it gently. "I don't think that's the case."

Cyan didn't have anything else to say so he got up from the table and Mari stood up with him. She wrapped her arms around him and gave him a hug and he hesitantly hugged her back before letting go and leaving the kitchen. He walked past Smash in the living room without saying anything and went downstairs to the basement. Mari gave a small sigh an started to do the dishes.

All he did was start working in his shop again and figured that's what he was going to do until he was tired enough to sleep. Mari continued doing the dishes and Garreth eventually came downstairs, looking in the drawers for something.

He didn't pick up his cell since he was downstairs and watching TV with his dad. Instead, his voice mail came up. "Hey, this is James. Not around my phone. Leave a message and I'll get back to you."

Mari had finished doing the dishes and came into the living room, sitting down beside Smash and leaning her head on his shoulder. Garreth found what he was looking for and went back upstairs to finish his homework.

Mari rubbed his stomach a bit as she leaned against him and gave him a kiss on his cheek. "What's wrong, hun?"
