How are you doing, my dear sister? *puts the kettle on*

I've been doing alright. Having trouble figuring out if mother is wanting Thanksgiving at her house.
*pulls the cookie jar down from the cabinet; plates a few of them*

Last year around Christmas, Mom was off and on sick for a month and she said she didn't have the energy for a dinner party. So, i told Dad that we would be able to have Christmas dinner together on the holiday, instead of the day after. Father and I were so sure that Mom would change her mind last minute, because that is what she does.

*set the china and cookies on the table*

We waited until the day before Eve to invite my sister and one of my brothers. The other is married now, you see, so they were probably off seeing Her family. But the point was to invite the two that had no other plans down for a free meal, and hang out.

Well, all three of us ended up visiting Mother a couple days later. She looked at me, and said in front of everybody "Oh i was going to have a small dinner, but then a heard you and your father were having a party. So, i didn't get to see any of my babies on Christmas."

emotion_facepalm The sad thing is, i saw that coming.

*pours the tea and listens, nodding*

Ah yes... Lately we've been having rather relaxed family get togethers, which means a blow up is about to occur... Rather obviously, my younger sister is avoiding answering any and all phone calls from our father...
Not to say he doesn't deserve it, but at some point she really needs to pick up the phone and just freaking talk to him... I'm too preoccupied at the moment to be the one to tell him that she's pissed at him.
I am kinda surprised that he asked about having Thanksgiving with his gf's family earlier than the day before...so I give him that... Though I still had to decline, because we have Thanksgiving luncheon with my mom's side and then early dinner like 3 hours later at my grandma's (on his side) house... not my fault he decided to forgo tradition... my grandma is 90 and I won't miss a holiday at her house unless I'm running the risk of getting everyone ill.
I think my sister and I can successfully avoid contact with him during this holiday weekend so long as she contacts him and lets him know just how busy she is, since he already said he understands this fact, and tells him we can get together when she comes in for Winter Break... I figure then would be a more adequate time for her to unload her gripes and such anyway.

Luckily during any holiday quandries this season I can instantly be preoccupied with the baby and thus unable to provide any backing for argumental sides ^u^v

*stirs in a little milk and sips*
Babies are such little miracles, aren't they? ^-^
In fact, i believe my sister and i have bonded through her daughter. Before Baby Niece came about, we were still bickering siblings.
When i moved to another house, we barely talked. Then she called to tell me the news. As the weeks went by, whenever she was lonely or bored, sister would call ahead and come down for lunch. It started to be a hang out spot because i'd do housework while she took a 4-hour nap. lol

I think those nine months did a some real work on our relationship.

We get along better now, and i'm happy to be a more involved aunt than i thought i was going to turn out to be.

Well I guess I feel as though I know a little more about the true nature of many people I know from this whole experience based on how I've been treated throughout things since I found out. Mostly it's been good, thankfully. And I'm looking forward to raising a splendid child that they'll know and love. ^^
My younger sister got into town the other day and was so excited to finally meet little Skyler... the elder sister gets back from India with her husband later today.
Are you doing anything exciting for Black Friday? And did you have a good Thanksgiving? o3o

Well, as it turns out. My mom was having a small get-together at her house. The night before Thanksgiving, i came home from work and Father told me my sister called to let me know.
It was a nice gathering, two out of three of my siblings were there, while the other was hosting a party with his wife's family. I got to see my brother that i haven't seen in months, and Baby Niece is feeding herself now. That is ,when she's not having fun mushing up the cranberries with her spoon. lol

*stirs tea*

Today, i went into town in the afternoon, and i was happy to see the expected mob at Walmart was nonexsistent, although the place still had a buzzing atomosphere. I purchased Vol. 1 of Inuyasha: The Final Act, something that i have been waiting for to be translated to English the past three years.
Now tonight, I get to have a holiday dinner with Father. Two home-smoked turkeys that most of it we will definitely be vacuum-sealing and throw into the back freezer.
