Of course; but that doesn't mean that your magic shouldn't be consistent, hence where the common sense comes into play.
No, I don't go so far with my futurism. It's not like I have characters totting around neutron particle cannons or employing exotic elements to create a wormhole. No, my weaponry is focused around the likes of railweapons, something which has already been built. It's just a matter of scale. That and power armour, which I can already point out the logical flaws of it myself.
So in the end you achieved nothing.

And several other functions like plasma grenade launcher, teleportation, and an object materializer.
