"Sure thing..." Terryn was a little curious now as she settled herself nest to Marcus again and rested her head against his chest, shutting her eyes peacefully. "Good night."

"Good night." A moment or two later, Marcus suddenly remembered, and he opened his eyes. "Oh, and I've got to do the thing formally, don't I?" He cleared his throat. "You'll marry me, won't you?"

But Terryn was already gone. She mumbled something quietly and rolled over onto her side.

This struck Marcus as comical, and he fell asleep shortly after, smiling slightly.

The next morning, Terryn woke up with a very strange dream in her head. She could swear she had been proposed to overnight, but shook her head and soon forgot about it.

Marcus woke up about a half hour later, and he rubbed the sleep from his eyes. His proposal last night was definitely not forgotten, and he cursed himself for being the most idiotic idiot to walk the earth. What had he been thinking, just asking Terryn to marry him, half asleep? He hadn't been thinking. And it had been too soon, much too soon. He was going to wait for some time before he proposed next. If he did at all, really. Since they weren't exactly unhappy at present.

Terryn rolled over and smiled at Marcus as he awoke. "Good morning." She leaned over and kissed him on the cheek, pulling the sheets up around her better.

"Morning," Marcus answered, trying to act as though nothing was bothering him. He still looked rather discomfited, though. "Did you sleep well?"

Terryn nodded, yawning a bit as she closed her eyes again for some last minute rest. "Better than I have had in a long while."

Marcus couldn't help but smile at that. "I'm glad to hear it." He got up, still troubled, and he ran a hand over his beard. "Should I keep this?" he asked suddenly, wanting to divert his own attention to his stupidity last night. "The beard, I mean. Does it bother you?"

Terryn shook her head. "I like it. Just keep it trimmed." She chuckled. "Or you may look like you are back in the dungeon."

The corners of Marcus's eyes crinkled. "You sound almost like you'd enjoy that," he teased, grinning. The only reason he'd kept a beard was because the doctor could only come with a mirror and razor once a week.

Terryn shrugged with a sort of smartass grin. "Well, it certainly would make it easier to keep an eye on you. That way, if you ever felt like going back to Russia and getting one of those blonde beauties I can just shorten your chains." She leaned forward and gave him a kiss to show that she was obviously joking.

Marcus rolled his eyes. "Thank goodness that you trust me, then," he said, letting himself fall back down to bed and taking Terryn down with him.

Terryn wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him in for a deep kiss. It had been a very long time since they had been able to be together, and she wanted to take full advantage of the moment.
