I have a question for you sunburn experts out there.
I was on the river for 5 hours on Sunday (was supposed to be 3 hours and wore plenty enough sunscreen for 3 hours. Applied 2 layers well before we got in the water, to make sure it was resistant to the water) and my leg got a little toasty. I've been using aloe since Sunday night, and it doesn't look like a bad burn at all (no blistering, even the tiny ones). A little while ago, I got a pain shooting through the burn so badly that it made me very dizzy. It was quick, but very intense, and it's never happened to me before, even with 2nd degree sunburn (who'da thunk you needed sunscreen when it was overcast?? I was 12, hadn't a clue). Is that normal??? Or should I be concerned and be doing more than the aloe (with lidocain)?

You could also try using some Noxzema cream. I use that for my sunburns. It's so nice and soothing~ I've never had a burn that made me hurt that bad before. Usually it's just more annoying, and occasionally it'd be more of a throbbing pain. :/ I'd say if you continue having this pain for more than 24 hours, you might need to go to Med Express or something. Just stay out of the sun (duh xD) and keep it covered (double duh?) and... uh... um... I dunno what else to do. I'm horrible at treating my burns. I just cope with them until they turn to tan. xD Hope it goes away soon!

Been taking Aleve for my sore muscles from all the paddling we had to do on the river, so can't take any more NSAIDs. I like my tummy without holes in it. smile Guess if it keeps doing it, I'm destined to go to the clinic whether I like it or not. Like I said, I've had 2nd degree burns that didn't do this, and a small 3rd degree burn that didn't. (the 2nd degree was my whole back) Just not sure if it's something that's just never happened to me but is normal, or something I need to be concerned with. Had the river trip been the 3 hours it was supposed to be, we all would have been just fine. Stupid river control people who lowered it.
