She didn't complete the thought because whenever she heard it, it always trailed off at that point. It was the least chosen option, so few people could honestly say what would happen. Given what had happened before, she was sure that sh and Kal both had a pretty good idea of what the second part of that phrase was.

Luana didn't know how to answer that with words. It seemed that everything in her life was conflict now: her life against being Solar Flare, trusting her angel versus trusting Tavin's friends in the Brink, using her logic or using her heart... It was true though. Being there with Kal did feel right. The world that was the Brink seemed to melt away as she looked into his eyes. One of those tears, born of the fear she felt and bottled so much, started to roll down her cheek.

Luana could have stayed that way forever, with their arms wrapped around each other, kissing passionately. Wild thoughts from that dormant part of her mind began to surface and parade themselves as options before her. She had always thought of it as that little bit of animal that she kept caged in her heart, lest it lead her into sin.
She held him as close as she could.

Luana stood there with him, here eyes still closed. She wondered if the pounding she felt in her chest was her heart alone and both of theirs together. She let her senses absorb every aspect of the moment.
"I didn't know it was possible for me to feel this way about anyone."

He was sure he'd go crazy if didn't do something about it then and there. The back of her shirt so easily rode upwards while he held her. Soon enough the hand he placed on the bottom of her spine was touching bare skin, but he didn't dare to move it yet, though that would drive him crazy soon too:::

Luana felt the touch of skin on her back and the logical part of her mind, tempered by years of lectures and sermons, started slicing through the feelings that she had allowed herself to be wrapped in. The alarm screamed in protest while her heart soared. The subconcious battle was waged within her, but conciously all she could think of was being with Kal.
Stop it! Stop it! a voice inside her screamed. It wasn't an angry voice, but a fearful one. You can't do this!
She had both arms around him and her hand on the back of his neck. The more she tried to ignore that part of her that wanted to stop and pull away, the stronger it got. At last, she moved her hands back down, placed them on Kal's arms, and gently pulled them away without creating any distance between them.
The nimal within her screamed before it was locked away again, but this was a barrier she was not ready to cross.
"I'm sorry," she whispered. "I guess I'm just..."
