:::Cora's ears suddenly pick up a heart beat... but not all by itself... whirring, and clicking, and electic pulses totally unlike the normal human kind that are sent throughout the nervous system... these were being transmitted through metal....and they were in perfect sync with the sound of blood pumping and lungs expanding:::

[After another breath Andrew sits up and slowly scanns his surroundings, his gaze eventually falling on Luke and Cora. He freezes, staring with his mismatched eyes.]

*Luke's eyes widen and he flinches back - and stops. He's seen the Terminator movies. This is probably not going to turn out well for them. Unconsciously, he blocks Cora - even though somewhere he knows, she is far more equipped to handle this than he is.*

*Luke just keeps staring. The machinery is NOT primitive to Luke. Not only that, this kid doesn't look like he's a day out of high school. If he is kid. He'd got machinery where body parts should be.*
*When Cora tells him he's in the Brink and adds "It's safe" -- He shoots her a look, as if to say "Are you ******** kidding me?" Before he can decide whether or not to correct her, Luke fades out of the Brink.*

[Andrew sees Luke fade and his natural eye goes wide. He starts to scoot away as quickly as his unfamiliar limbs can carry him.]

Oh... no, it's alright. That's normal here.
:::She starts to step closer to him, but decides that might make him more frightened. Instead, Cora walks slowly over a table near by, and sits in it, facing the boy, perhaps sitting it would be less intimidating:::
I know, this is all hard to understand. Try to calm down though, I"ll explain.

[Andrew looks Cora over. Her friend vaishing obviously did not bother her. He blinked at her at waited for her to continue.]

This is called the Brink of Time. People from all different times through out history, and all different worlds come here at random.
:::Well...maybe it's not that random. But it was beside the point:::
They are picked up out of their daily lives and stay here for a short while before they are sent back... much like Luke, who just disappeared, he just went back to his time, that's all.
When you go back, it will be as though no time at all has passed...
