I don't know whether this happen in the desert areas of the USA or not, but over here during summer we can have what's known as a "dry thunderstorm" where there's no rain, just loads of thunder and a huge amount of lightning strikes, often causing bushfires.

It happens, and not just in the desert areas too. It's totally trippy too.

We generally don't get them around where we live because it's humid all along the coasts but our desert is as dry as a bone. I can recall only once when it happened where I live...it was quite trippy, but also kinda scary because we're the only wooden house in our street... xp

Makes sense. It's rare when it happens here too, but I've seen it myself a time or two. And wow, how scary! Glad nothing happened.

It rained here yesterday, but not today. Hopefully not tomorrow either.

Hmm, it rained a couple of nights ago - the whole week was meant to be wet...I just hope it doesn't rain when I have to catch the bus tomorrow or I will not be happy...

The weather's been absolutely fantastic these last couple of days! I hope this trend continues tomorrow for my field trip - geology in the rain is not fun (been there, done that so many times this year...) xp

My geo lecturers have a saying - if it rains, it's a good day for geology, if it's sunny, it's a fantastic day for geology.
It was a good day. It opened my eyes to the evidence of some of the Earth's processes that can be found all around us - you just need to know what you're looking for.
