Hi sexy, hi Lyx! How are you?

Hi everyone! How's your day going?

Just finished coloring my hair. It's short, and about 50% gray. I haven't colored it in about 2 years. It grows so fast, and needs a touch-up so often. But I was lookiing washed-out, so I caved.

I bought a "bronze" color. It turned red on me. Now I have this deep auburn, that's not completely natural looking, but it doesn't glow in the dark, thank goodness.

At least it does make me look more alive.

I'm thinking of putting in some light-brown-golden highlights. Any thoughts?

Anyone want to share about "tragic hair-coloring accidents"? I have some pretty funny stories.

Hey designergrl. Golden brown highlights might look good with auburn. Is the auburn more reddish or brownish?

I did a home dye just before my wedding. I was going for a rich brown, but ended up with a very deep red. Luckily it still looked good.

I tried one of those at home highlighting kits once. The color turned out alright, but since my hair is curly and kind of long, I had a hard time getting the highlights placed well, so it was really uneven.

Hi Sexy, Lyx, and Designergrl smile

I havent got any bad hair coloring stories yet, I am afriad but I probably will quite soon. For some odd reason I have never eveh dyed my hair. BUT now that I'm gettign a few grey hairs I was thinking it might be time to experiment.. eep.

Edit: OH! and HI Ananda! I didn't see ya there *hugs*

oh, it's more red than brown. Doncha hate when that happens? The box showed a truly golden deep brown.

I tried one of those highlighting kits once, too. I put too many streaks in and pretty much turned my hair blonde. Which, trust me, does not look good with my complexion. It had kind of an orange tint too. I think my natural undertone leans toward red, so that's why colors seem to "bend" on me.

But it's not as bad as the time it went pink. Like marshmallow peeps pink. Truly tragic.

Hi Birdsong;

Best advice is to stick very close to your natural color and avoid products containing ammonia. And do a test strand first, by all means! Oh, the pain I could have avoided! That's what comes from being lazy. Now I have to invent.

Thanks DG! I had heard that if you start dying too early it might lead to premature greying so I had been sort of...scared off it til now. I will snip out your advice for later..... heart
