Hey Birdsong. What are you studying?

Plato's Euthyphro, where Socrates is discussing with Euthyphro why he should not try to try his own father in court for murder *edited from theft*.

I like Eastern philosophy better but I'm trying to read more western 'analytic' philosophy to round myself out biggrin

eek Wow. Heavy reading. I liked Philosophy in college, but sadly, mainly stick to fiction nowadays.

I've been avoiding it myself because of the heaviness factor, myself. After getting into it I'm finding it's not all that heavy, really. It only gets heavy if I satrt thibking i actually know anything , heh.

But seriously it's like math in a way.. if you get it in little doses, it isn't so bad at all.

I do fiction too biggrin I love fantasy !!

I like Anne MacCaffrey, especially the Dragonriders of Pern series and especially especially the Harper Hall Trilogy. I also like Ursula K. LeGuin and I have her 'Earthsea' books on my bookshelf. Ummmm, also there's Elizabeth Moon and 'The Deeds of Paksenarrion, and also Andre Norton with her 'Witchworld' series and her other books. ONe of my favorites is one that she did called 'A Scent of Magic'.. hehe I dont know why I like that one but I just do.

One of my recent favorite authors is Robin McKinley. She's done a lot of real good stuff.. one is 'Beauty', and then 'Spindle's End' and 'Deerskin' (love that one). She does a lot with myths and faerie tales, spinning them to make them her own. Oh yeah, another recent good series is from Jane Lindskold.. she has an entire series starting from 'Wolfs Head Wolf's Heart' where she tells the story of a feral girl that grew up with intelligent wolves before reuniting with the rest of humanity. biggrin

Edited smile

I'll have to check some of those out. I've read Ursula K. LeGuin's Earthsea series and The Lathe of Heaven. They were really good. I'm usually into big, intrecate series. I love Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time series and Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series.

I'm always afraid to get into the really long ones!! However, Jane Lindskold' series is turnign out to be pretty long.

Maybe I should check out Terry Goodkind's thing out though. I remember reading things from him a while back that were good. The Wheel of Time series just scares me, it's so long.. lol

Ah, but that's what I love about it. Although, I will admit that if I don't go back and re-read between new books I sometimes forget some of the minor plot points and intrigues. xd
