So once my character is all settled in, where does she go to start learning skills?
At the very start, you cant' learn anything until your character is injected with the Gene-X. To learn your Gene-X skills, you must go get a dorm room, and a Crew member or the Captain will RP a package being delivered to your room. In the package is a syringe that your character will inject herself with that will give you the Gene-X. However, for the next 3 days when that happens, you character will undergo severe side effects (those side effects will be up to you) and on the 3rd day, the side effects will fade away and you will be able to start training for your Gene-X.
Once that is done, you should go to the library and check out a book on your Gene-X and start learning the skills from there. If you have a tutor though that is higher level than you that you learn from, you get a tutoring bonus and you don't have to post as much in order to learn said skill.
Also, there are Classes available on Saturday and Sunday where there are always teachers ready to help students learn skills faster. On some of these days, if you come at the right time, the teachers will be teaching the students something particularly special.
Remember, right now your character knows the first stage of any chosen sub-style (which is located in the Student Handbook Subforum) and you don't have to train for that because your character already knows it. But remember, you can only autolearn 1 of them when your RPC first starts out.
