"That is left to be seen," he said. He wasn't exactly in the mood for thinking much more at the moment, as he was concentrating portions of his mind into moving his amateurly done anti-eavesdropping field with them. "Step faster," he added hastily.

Iro noticed his attempt at maintaining the orb and placed her hand on his shoulder. "Forgive me," she said to him, "but..." she closed her eyes and strengthened the orb a bit, silently passing a bit of her mana strength into him.

Ryushi grunted as his form of thanks. Okay, a few more blocks, and they'd be to the wall. They'd have to follow that to the gates, or go over. Whichever worked best.

Iroka removed her hand from his shoulder, letting the mana go. "Why did you decide to help me?" she asked him, looking semi suspicious, "is it normal for acolytes of the holy temple city to help murderers?"

"That's completely different from what you said earlier," he replied. But it'd bother him if she turned up as a corpse the next day. Especially a headless corpse.

"No, no," she said, "don't get me wrong, I'm glad you're helping, like I said, I wouldn't make it through the night if you didn't, but I still feel a little odd that it didn't take that much convincing..."

"Yes, for all you know I could just be waiting to turn you over, huh?" he said, turning to the right when he met the wall, rather than left, towards the gates.

"I'd beleive it..." she mumbled under her breath, following him towards the wall.

"Well, it's rather stupid to try to run, yeah?" he said, trying to casually bring about the reason why he wasn't leading her out of the city, but rather to temple. Or maybe she wouldn't notice. Ryushi began to walk faster.

"Exactly where are we going, Acolyte?" she asked still following him, "and what did you mean by 'it's stupid to run'?"

"If you run from them, your name will not be cleared, and you can't very easily show your face in public where those Geosns may be, correct?" reasoned Ryushi. That, and he wouldn't get in trouble for being out at night, if he were helping someone else out like this. "What exactly is chasing you, anyways? You made it sound as if you had trained hitmen stalking after you, you were so panicky."

"Well, excuse me for fearing for my life our entire villiage gaurd is after me, along with the gaurd of every villiage I've passed through since I left! I happen to be a lone teenage girl here! Not like I'm trained in combat or anything!" she said to him, loudly because she knew the barrier was at least semi-decent. "You still have yet to tell me where you're taking me, and I don't know what your name is."

"Ah, yes, you only did kill one old lady, after all," he remarked, shaking his head. Well, this would help her in the end, if she was being honest, and it would earn him brownie points of sorts if this turned out to be the right thing to do, which it would: if she was evil, he was turning over a criminal, if not, he was offering refuge.
"I'm taking you to safety, of course," he said as if it was obvious, though he purposefully did not say, "I'm taking you outside of the city."

"Excuse me for questioning someone of higher authority than myself, oh Great Acolyte Sir," she said sarcastically, "but the gates are the other way." She continued to huff behind him, pulling her hair into a makeshift bun as she did so. "And it's not my fault that that 'one little old lady' happened to be the town healer, apothecary, witchdoctor, and Elder. Oh, and P.S.- You still haven't given me your name!"

"You can call me Kurohana," Ryushi said, giving his surname rather than his given name.
"That's what all the elder priests call me, anyways. Bunch of suckups," he muttered. "And I know where I'm going. You'll be fine."
"If you aren't lying," he added, though it was more of a thought out loud, not really meant to be heard by anyone besides him. He stopped talking after that, and began to walk faster- he had slowed down while they were talking.
