The latest post in my activity thread has an ongoing draft of instructions for the drawing activity. Could you please take a look and let me know if the instructions are clear enough. I could add a step by step picture tutorial if needed. ninja

The instructions look clear enough - If I can understand them, it shouldn't be too much of a challenge for anybody else blaugh Obviously, it's not a post-a-bump win-a-prize type thing as it's quite detailed but it looks well thought out and it's more challenging than any of the other threads we have. I think the prizes for this should be quite impressive due to that, so let me know if I can help here. I also wanted to say I'm going to be away from Friday 27th till Tuesday 31st as I'm off to one of my Nephew's wedding. Rest assured I'll be back in time to get my threads up & assist with the main thread.

Thank you!

I will get some prizes listed in the next few hours - if they need to be more impressive let me know (prizes can be evaluated after you return if needed). wink

Congrats to your nephew and have a wonderful time at the wedding!

Ty! I'm sure your choice of prizes will be perfect but if you need anything just let me know. I'm looking forward to the Wedding, it's already been postponed twice - at this rate, by the time it goes ahead, the groom will be about 70 & I'll probably be getting pushed around in a wheelchair xd

i think i may need pictures or smthin please -hides face- i understand better visually but i get that its a collaborate art piece
but why must wait until two other artist draw and then u can draw? isnt it like, u draw a bit and pass it to the others?
that last idea as i used to do at school and stuff may be hard since this is online so, if its like that, u can collect a list of those who like to participate until a deadline and then somewhere nearing the party end, we can roate who draws according to the list order. and once each completes their part, they can quote the next person and so forth... hope tht makes sense - but this can be an idea for another game or event too n not specifically for this?

This is my activity dump~ Posting all thoughts for potential activities so I don't forget anything. Apologies if it looks like my brain is just going haywire. xd

Plan to bring back the signature raffle, as it's super easy, anyone can participate, and pretty much runs itself (I just have to record names and then use RNG). And it advertises the party~ Fufufufu~

Something that I haven't fully figured out how the game will run: shared masterpiece. There's a cool website (https://aggie.io/) where multiple people can draw on a canvas - the website is free and you don't have to make an account. The website can be accessed via desktop/laptop/tablet; only catch: it displays wonky on some smaller mobile devices. The game would not be a contest - it's more participation and (hopefully) fun. Basically one person starts a a drawing (e.g. one line). They can't add another line to the picture until after at least 2 different users have added lines though. Participants keep adding lines until a full picture forms.

Haven't decided if the picture is going to be completely at the whims of the artists (Rorschach inkblot - go with whatever you think the image is); or if the starting artist should choose the subject. Let me know if you think this is an idea worth writing up a rough draft of instructions. redface

Can't remember what this activity is called: a picture is posted and people try to make entertaining slogans?

Guess the image in progress / underwater maze: not super keen on either activity, as they require a lot more time commitment.

Duck, duck, goose? I Spy? ^^;

ohhh so this make so much sense abt tht collaborative piece!
that does sound super fun but timezone must be taken into consideration.

id like to see this happen - def can be interesting and destressful but need more info and beta test this with a couple of users or so before actually goin thru with it.
if beta test can make a short video tutorial for the players in the actual contest to see and understand how this works as ive not seen something like this in gaia in my experience.

the slogan thing - i knw an art version - like caption the artwork it's called. maybe 'Caption the Image!' ?

how about a crossword puzzle? an aquarium one with a bit of gaia but nothin too hard so even a non aquarium player can play.
and for prizes for each they guess they make a small amount of plat/items which adds up to a good reward if they get all right. =)
there are online stuff for that - like this? (u can better ones i think)
just an idea

i dunno whats duck duck goose sorry. =0 i spy would be a bit tough? idk?
id suggest some simple games to focus on first and make them and for the ones which has an interest and then to do the rest =)

I'll aim to get a picture version of the instructions up by the end of the day. 3nodding

The reason I stated 2 other artists have to contribute is to avoid the scenario where two users online at the same time are dominating a drawing. This could still happen with 3 users, but I don't think it's as likely. The more artists and styles involved, hopefully the cooler the artwork turns out.

Your suggestion for a rotating order from a list is interesting and can definitely be considered for an activity in the future. For the current activity I don't want participants to feel they have to draw when it is their turn - it's more along the lines of if a user happens to be online and two other users contributed, then they have the choice of adding to the drawing. wink

That being said, you make an excellent point about quoting. If a user posts in the thread after adding to the drawing, that will make it easier to tell that new components have been added. Will see if I can incorporate that in the instructions.

Duck duck goose is a (typically) physical game where a group of people (usually kids/teens/young adults) sit in a circle with one person on the outside. That person walks around the circle, gently tapping everyone's heads. As they tap heads they will say either 'duck' or 'goose' If they say 'duck' the person whose head they tapped remains seated. If they say 'goose', then they and the person whose head was tapped race around the circle in opposite directions. The first person to reach the now vacant spot in the circle sits back down and the second person starts walking around tapping heads.

That's how I typically played the game, but there are variations, such as the 'goose' chasing the person (same direction instead of opposite directions), drip drip drop, daisy in the dell, and more.

If I went with this idea I would've modified if as a forum based game.

I Spy has been done in the past by other Gaia community members. The host posts a cluttered image and lists a number of objects to find. Participants save the image, circle the items, and then PM the host the new image. Possibly inspired by the I Spy books and the image finding app games. (Example image from book).

I am not using the duck duck goose or I spy game ideas this year though.

The crossword puzzle is a fabulous idea! If I finish writing out all the current activities, including caption the image (thank you for providing the name!), then I will add a puzzle to the main thread.

The collaborative art activity certainly seems pretty new. That's one of the reasons why I've made a note for the activity that instructions could be modified as the game progresses. I'm hoping time zones are not an issue, as there are no deadlines or set drawing order. Basically participants just draw, wait for any two or more artists to contribute, then draw again if they so choose. Fingers crossed it runs and participants have fun. whee
