Sword Art Online: A New Beginning

The man gave a big grin, apparently having forgotten about the injury to his arm.

“’Das right. I’m the best PK in the game, Drexor!” He lowered his gaze and looked down at her with a devious sneer. “And you are my next victim. I can’t wait to plunge my weapon into your soft flesh. Usually I have to find players as they come through. But you actually came looking for me? Well, you must really want to be killed then. Luckily for you, I’m happy to oblige.” He raised his massive broad sword and swung down at Eve with an immensely powerful swing. Though it would likely deal over half of her health if she was hit by it, the movement was rather slow and sluggish. The great weight of the weapon seemed to be enough to slow him down.

Drexor grimaced, but did not make a sound as he swung angrily to the side, attempting to behead the young girl in a single blow. The bright red gash in his arm didn’t’ seem to impede his attacks at all, but the massive weight still made his movements sluggish. As a result, Eve was able to easily avoid the attack. He unleased a volley of strikes, slicing to and for, and even attempting to punch. All of his attacks were charged with immense power, but they were heavily telegraphed, and rather slow.

Drexor’s health began to drop rapidly as blow after blow from Eve found its mark. By this time, he was panting heavily, and his attacks became even more unbalanced and easily dodged as his frustration increased.

In an almost last ditch effort, he swung the sword around and around, spinning in a violent circle. The action was easily dodged by the much more agile Eve, and he toppled to the ground, his strength exhausted. Forcing himself to one knee, he looked up into the young girls eyes. An angry scowl covered his expression, and he spit on the ground at her feet.

The man’s eyes glowed with a new fire and he lunged forward, grasping towards Eve’s throat.

“Who says I’ve been beaten you li’l brat!”

Drexor collapsed to one knee again, his hand covering one of the many gashes that now glowed a deep red.

“You….ignorant brat. You think….you think you’re so special….like you can kill someone like me? I’ll destroy you, and when you respawn, I’ll hunt you down and destroy you again.” His voice was now at a yell, and he reached for his sword. Grasping the handle firmly in his right hand, he slammed the blade into the ground unleashing a massive AOE attack that reached for several meters. His increased height and size caused all of his attacks to have a larger hit box carrying more damage, while at the same time limiting his speed capabilities and mobility stats.

Drexor was through, and Eve could see it. Despite all his boasting and bragging, he was rather weak in comparison to many other opponents that Eve had faced while in service to Caveat. It made her ponder for a moment why she had been sent to kill him when he was so pitifully average. Her considerations were interrupted as Drexor began shouting obscenities at her, all the wile using his sword to struggle to his feet.

Eve’s blade pierced through Drexor sending red shards of energy flying in all directions. The massive man stood there for a moment, a look of utter disbelief clouding his face. He couldn’t believe that he had lost, and yet, as he watched the last of his life bar drain, he knew that was exactly what had happened. He opened his mouth to speak, but before he was able to, his strength gave out and he collapsed to the ground.

The forest fell silent. Even the chirping of the bugs and birds had seemed to stop. It was as though time stood still.

As with the spider, the body did not immediately disappear. Instead, the saturation began to drain from it, and in only a few moments from the time that Drexor had collapsed, he was rising again.

There was no life in his eyes, and he more resembled an NPC now than an actual player. His muscles tensed, and he unleashed a beast like roar. Seizing his sword, he began to swing viciously at Eve. His movements were faster than before, more agile, though he appeared to have just as much power behind each swing.

An opponent that had previously given Eve little challenge was now actually seeming to keep up with her. At every turn, his massive blade would be there, batting away her strikes, and delivering powerful blows of his own.

His movements were manic and wild. It almost appeared that he was using a berserker sword skill, but the execution was persistent. There was never a moment of relief.
