Kyra was.. 99.9999999% positive that having a broken wand would make a huge difference. She remembered one summer in Venice while they were vacationing there that her father had gotten his wand partially broken. He had claimed he broke it on accident playing quidditch with his mates, but Kyra could vividly remember her mother getting flustered at him and accusing him of breaking it during a wizards duel, something Kyra learned a couple years later that her father enjoyed partaking in for sport against other wizards with similar sportsmanlike interest. That summer ended up being a mess with her father stubbornly attempting to use his wand despite the crack and crooked twist in it. He had terribly hated parting with the wand since it was the one he had had since attending wizarding school, but like always, Kyra's mother won that day and had made him replace it. Not before her father caused a huge panic though. Their housekeeper had been doing laundry and her father didn't agree that the water had enough soap in it, so he tried using a spell on the washbasin to make the water more soapy. The spell misfired, jetted out the window of their vacation home, and straight into the waters of the Adriatic Sea. The entire channel had turned super soapy and many of the nearby houses built upon the pylons of wood were invaded and flooded with soapsy bubbles, their place included. The entire mess was so widespread that the ministry had to get involved to stop it from spreading further.. A lot of memory charms were cast that day. Her mother still had yet to forgive him for that.. calling it a giant blemish on their families name and reputation. To her father, it was just a wonderful story to tell at parties and always brought laughters and tears.

Kyra frowned as she pulled herself back from the memory, not near as confident in Elsie's plan of attempting a repair on the wand. But she also wasn't a wand expert and so maybe the damage to the wand wasn't as bad as it had appeared? "I'm pretty positive having a broken wand makes a difference.." Kyra replied, but didn't share the memory. That was a story for another time and such catastrophic outcomes may even excite the adventurous Elsie. "I don't think we should, Elsie.. I mean.. we've barely learned the first thing about even using our wands. But.. I mean.. I'm sure one of those books you brought up.. maybe has the repair spell? I guess it couldn't hurt to at least try." She offered. Kyra didn't want to constantly shoot down Elsies ideas, and thought that it probably couldn't hurt to at least try. At best they might make their own wands shoot some sparkles and she didn't think they had any chance of actually using a reparo spell.

Kyra had gone off to engage Eldrick in conversation. She went through all the appropriate formalities as her mother would expect of her. Greetings, small talk, inquiring how his summer was and asking about his family. He was actually a pretty enjoyable conversationalist, even if he did seem slightly annoyed at her interruption.. plus it wasn't a bad idea to keep in contact with some of the older students she already knew. It could help later on in the year if she needed help with classwork or just advice on teachers ect ect. Eventually she worked her way to her point and asked for the directions. She did her best to memorize the locations of tomorrows classes before he excused himself and walked off to probably search for the girl he was flirting with. She turned to return to Elsie and was a bit surprised to see Elsie engaged in conversation with two first year hufflepuff girls. Kyra made her way back over. The dark headed girl looked as if she just got out of bed, crooked glasses, wild hair and clothes and robes that were obviously old and a size or two too big. This girl was obviously lowborn and Kyra hated herself the second that thought came into her head, a thought that sounded like her mother and less herself. The other girl attracted less attention and seemed to just blend into the background.

Fawn felt a wave of vindication gush over her as a smile as wide as her face spread cheek to cheek. A REAL LIFE PHOENIX. SHE KNEW IT. KNEW IT KNEW IT KNEW IT KNEW IT! Fawn pushed down a tenth of her excitement to stop her from running down the hallways, screaming in glee as the legendary bird disguised as a girl let her in on her secret. Not only that, but she was being praised by this elegant legendary creature for figuring it all out. Fawn stood proudly and put her hands on her hips, in a stance of pride. ”You betcha. I had you figured out from the get go. Nothing. NOTHING, gets past my eyes. Oooo wait, secret? I like secrets.” Fawn leaned forward so she wouldn’t miss a single syllable and nodded her head excitedly, mumbling a couple uh-huh’s as she was informed that the feathers were only given out as special gifts. She didn’t know Phoenix’s liked apples, but it made sense. Red bird, red apples. OF COURSE THEY LIKED APPLES. Fawn nearly smacked herself on her forehead. How could she not have put those two together? ”Apples, got it. Your talking to the best Hogwarts Apple Smuggler in school. You can count on me!” Fawn exclaimed, though in hushed tones so nobody else nearby would hear her secret. She then turned excitedly toward Gina to gloat. ”Seeeee Seeeee. I told you she was a phoenix and I’d bet my full head of hair that the other one is a real Unicorn. Wait wait, she’s coming back. Oh my gosh oh my gosh!” Fawn reached out and grabbed the Phoenix’s sleeve and tugged on it excitedly. ”Quick, you have to introduce me! This is.. the.. bestest day of my entire life!” When the Unicorn had gotten close enough, Fawn didn't wait to be introduced and hopped forward and hastily introduced herself in another torrent of words and questions. "Hello mythical creature! My name is Fawn. Oh my gosh! I can't believe I'm meeting a real life Unicorn. Soooo excited! Gina here didn't think you were actually a unicorn, but that's phonus balonus. Thankfully my new phoenix friend here confirmed my suspicions! So is it true you have a horn? Can you shoot magic out of it? Do you actually live in the forbidden forest?"

Kyra crossed the distance of the hallway to return to Elsie and the two students who had joined her. The girl with the dark hair seemed to grow restless with excitement the closer that she got. Kyra didn't get a chance to speak first and tell Elsie that she had gotten directions to their classes tomorrow because the girl with black hair had hopped in front of her, blocking off her path to Elsie before Kyra could say anything. The girl who introduced her name as Fawn just erupted in a quick torrent of words and nonsensical questions. Unicorn? Horns? Phoenix? Kyra gave the girl the most dumbfounded look as she threw Elsie an inquisitive gaze that pleased her to somehow explain what was happening. "Oh.. Well. Umm.. Hello there, Fawn. Its a pleasure to meet you." Kyra replied, introducing herself and giving both the girls a curtsy. "I.. I'm so terribly sorry, but I have no clue what your talking about. You must be mistaken because there are no unicorns in Hogwarts, that I know of." She tried her best to correct the girl, but her words just seemed to bounce off the girl as if she was wearing some impenetrable truth armor.

Fawn wasn't at all worried, or surprised that the unicorn denied what she was. Such a regal creature would, of course, not openly speak about such things. Fawn gave the girl a wink and switched gears. "I get it.
Your secret is safeee with me. Do not worry, I won't blabber a word about you or the phoneix to nobody. I don't want to get cursed!"

Elsie was about to roll her eyes with Kyra sounding so worried abouting trying spells with a broken wand. I mean, course we barely learned any spells, thats the whole point of trying things out! To learn! She was readying her argument when Kyra reasoned it might be safe to try a repair spell. Her only experiences with spells were when she was younger and they were accidents. She sometimes saw Markelm cast spells when things broke around the house. They looked easy enough. "Brilliant! It will work out, I just know it." She said with a nod. After all, what harm could they do with repair spells??? "Besides, wouldn't it be wonderful to know more spells than the others in class?" Elsie dreamed of knowing advanced spells and making Markelm proud. She practically skipped as they walked ahead.

While Kyra talked with the older boy, Elsie was dealing with two ninnys. She had the one called Fawn eating everything she told her, and the Gina girl seemed to be a dolt as well. More innocent than... simple, however. While Elsie debated how far she should go, she was watching Gina. Fawn seemed to eat EVERYTHING Elsie said, it was Gina that Elsie had to be careful around. She seemed to be the type that would question, after a while. Though, she decided to have some fun with the mention of the curse. Maybe Elsie could get some people to spread rumors to not mess with her. "Oh yeah, phoenix curses are nasty things. We have a fierce temper...so never mess with a phoenix. We're rather rare too. Not like you saw others like me, right?" Elsie started to say when Kyra was done with her conversation. She waved with a smile, wondering if Kyra had an impish side as well. She would soon find out, it seemed... because Fawn spazzed and gushed about a unicorn. Elsie hid her smile as she cleared her throat from a laugh that just wanted to bubble to surface. Elsie was going to introduce them, but Fawn rushed ahead and was pratically hopping like a bunny in excitement. She waited for Fawn to ask Kyra all kinds of weird questions. Just like she had been asked. Grinning at Kyra, Elsie saw her friend's confusion so she cleared her throat after Kyra answered. "By the way, I am Elsie. Kyra, this is Gina and Fawn. So, Kyra... did you learn how to get to charm class? Maybe they can help. After all, they are another house. Maybe they had the class already." She tried to offer a new way to get information; but as she glanced over at her friend she was starting to notice Kyra was a bit uncomfortable from all the attention, so she added; "Unless you were wanting to get that school work done. I can go find the classroom. Or; wander about, I have lots I can get done." She shrugged trying to give Kyra an out. Whatever choice Kyra made, Elsie wanted to have a little bit more fun as she leaned over to Fawn; adding with a whisper, "Also, I can tell you more about Phoenixes and unicorns. And if you really want to know more about Kyra... let's just say she, like other unicorns, really loves hair ribbons and takes special care of her hair."

Gina was shocked, completly shocked. A real unicorn and phoenix! How was such a thing possible? "Are there others like you?" she just had to ask, it was too incredible. Elsie, however said beings like her were rare. Pity.... She could not wait to learn more about it in classes. In fact she might get some books for late night reading. The new girl, Kyra seemed to be quite enchanting. Elegant even. The phoenix, Elsie; was a bit more lively and spirited. Not surprising, from what she knew about phoenixes. This was rather amazing!" Can you do fire spells?" she blurted and wondered if she was becoming annoying. The curse sounded rather scary so she wanted to know more. But, before she could ask more about this curse, the Unicorn girl had come over and the conversation became confusing. Gina was now not sure when to speak, or what to ask. "Um... i...is there a Unicorn curse too?" She asked, though Kyra seemed to not want to talk about being a unicorn. Especially once Fawn reassured that the secret would be kept. She eyed the unicorn girl wondering if she had secret powers. "Did you two grow up together?" maybe mystical creatures stuck together...

"It could. I mean.. the mending charm is actually pretty basic. And my mother uses it all the time without even thinking. It shouldn't be that hard. I bet we'll have that wand of yours in perfect condition before the night is over." Kyra agreed. She really did want to get her wand out and start practicing spells. The two of them were in house Ravenclaw, so it only made sense that they should go around practicing spells outside of class. The first year curriculum wasn't even that dense with spells they'd learn, and since they couldn't use magic outside of Hogwarts during holidays or over the summer break, the best time for them to experiment would be after classes or on the weekends while they were inside the walls of the castle. Maybe she could even convince her mother to give her some herbs so they could try some more advanced potions. She wasn't so sure their Potions professor would willingly give up supplies, but if she was given free reign in the herbology gardens.. "We may even gain our house some points back if we showcase some advanced spells." She offered, further fueling both their desires of learning advanced spells.

Fawn listened intensely as Elsie divulged the severity of the phoenix curse.. And she ate every word of it up. She had indeed, never met a phoenix before and bobbed her head excitedly in reply. "Oh no. Of course not. I betcha I'm the first student in Hogwarts to ever meet a phoenix before!" She was sure of it, and equally as sure to be the first at hogwarts to meet a unicorn. She was positive her name would go down in school history. Fawn didn't get the chance to drop another load of questions about the Phoenix because the Unicorn had come over and received a verbal assault. Initially, she was dismayed that the unicorn seemed confused and brushed her questions off, but Fawn realized that such an elegant creature such as she wouldn't so easily divulge her secrets. Unicorns were regal and proud and reclusive. The phoenix was bright and burning for attention and had a flare about her. Fawn gave the girl a wink as she insisted she wouldn't let anyone on to her secret. Elsie had come back over and given a name to the Unicorn, and had introduced herself too. "Did you say Charms Class?! Of course I know how to get there. I even got a map of the entire school! I doodled it on my hand with my quail! See!" Fawn exclaimed and held out both her hands. Of course, the map she had drawn on there had faded and rubbed off and she had forgotten that. She received inquisitive looks which caused her to look at her own hands. "Oh.. well, it was there. I probably rubbed it all over my skirt?" She stated and reached down to grab her skirt, examining it for ink spots that could maybe be a map. "Hmmm, nope. Afraid its gone now! I'll have to retrace my steps and make a new map! But if its a tour guide you require, your speaking to the right person! I know hogwarts like the back of my ankles. Been building a mental map ya see! The library is that way!" Fawn pointed to their left, at a wall which definitely was the wrong general direction to the library. "We just came from the Great Hall, over yonder!" She exclaimed again, in highly animated movements. This time she pointed out a window, down toward the owlery. It was clear Fawn would get all of them lost if they accepted her offer of being a tour guide... After it was clear that they wouldn't take her up on directions, Elsie had leaned in and whispered more juicy secrets to her and even offered up tell her more about the two mythical creatures. Fawn shook her head excitedly, full of unmatched giddy. She gave Kyra a knowing glance with a smirk. "Ribbons you say? I see, I see. Gotcha." She whispered back, making mental note to acquire ribbons and apples from somewhere.

"I spoke with that boy, Eldrick, and he gave me pretty good directions. I'm fairly certain I'll be able to find all our classes tomorrow without any issues." She replied to Elsie, and before she could say anything more, the girl, Fawn, spoke up about having a map. A map actually sounded like a wonderful idea and Kyra almost believed the girl was going to just pull out some sort of drawn out map to hand to them, but surprised them by stating she had written a map on her hand, which was apparently gone, maybe to her skirt, but not there either it seemed. Kyra was beginning to wonder if someone had hit this girl with a brain scrambling spell or something. It was made more obvious the girl would get them lost when she started pointing out the wrong directions to the two easiest things to find in the Castle, the Library and the Grand Hall. "Your offer is very kind, but I think Elsie and I can make do. I really do appreciate it though." Kyra replied. Kyra shot a glance over to the other girl, Gina, attempting to read her reaction to all this. She seemed genuinely attached to the conversation at hand, and was apparently also buying into all this nonsensical stuff about mythical creatures. The girl almost looked star struck. Kyra tried to give Elsie one of those can we leave please glances, but her friend appeared to be enjoying herself with all this weirdness. Kyra didn't want to ruin Elsies little fun and be a party pooper, but she needed to get away from this cuckoo girl. Kyra stepped around Fawn just as Gina inquired about a unicorn curse? Kyra couldn't really follow this conversation and wasn't sure what these girls were talking about. "I'm afraid I really have no clue what you are going on about.. Unicorns and phoenixes? We are just first year students.... But!" she exclaimed and motioned over to Elsie. "Elsie's father is Hogwarts Care of Magical Creatures professor this year. I'm sure Elsie could either ask him for you or take you down there and you can ask him all about it." She prompted, deflecting further questions about unicorns and phoenixes to Elsie and the professor.

The girl Fawn bounded back over to Elsie and seemed to have engaged her in whispered conversations. Fawn was grinning ear to ear.. Kyra decided she did not want to get involved. Gina's question shifted her focus and so Kyra figured it couldn't hurt to talk to the less nutty Hufflepuff girl. "Nope. Elsie and I actually just met here at Hogwarts. We ended up sharing a train car on the Hogwarts express and since just kinda stuck together. Its made coming to Hogwarts less lonely. What about you... and her? Do you two know each other? And is... is she always like this?" Kyra answered Gina's question and then directed it back to her, while also trying to get some insight into Fawn and her erratic behavior.

After a bit more talking, and a lot more weirdness from Fawn, Kyra decided it was time for them to break away, less Fawn's craziness infest both of them.
Elsie seemed to be enjoying this.. a lot. Every time she looked over at her friend, that mischievous grin seemed to grow larger. It was probably a good idea to leave before they found some new way to get in trouble. Kyra moved over toward her friend and gave Elsie a bit of a nudge, implying she wanted to get away from the two hufflepuff girls. "Errhrmm.. Elsie, I believe were running a bit late. Remember, we have that thing to do.. that your father wanted help with.. We really should get going?" Kyra was hoping Elsie would get the message. Thankfully, Elsie seemed to catch her meaning after a moment. Kyra gave the two girls a small bow. "Au revoir, Miss Fawn and Miss Gina." Kyra bid the two farewell, waiting for Elsie to to do the same. Kyra didn't give the two girls much time to reply as she hurried off with Elsie. Kyra waited till they were well out of ear shot from the two before she spoke. "I think someone hit that poor girl with a confundus charm.. I couldn't tell if she was joking or being serious." Kyra glanced over her shoulder just to make sure they weren't being followed. "Anyway.. So tomorrow we have Charms, transfiguration, defense against the dark arts. We already know where Charms is located. Transfiguration for first years is located in Classroom 1 on the first floor and Defense against the Dark Arts is located also on the first floor for first years, so that should make things much easier! No way we can be late to our classes tomorrow." Kyra finished talking as the two continued to walk. They had gone from one end of the hall, around a bend, and down some stairs back to the first floor. "I guess it won't take us that long to find these classes.. so if there was anything else you'd like to do before Astronomy class, I'm all ears?"

Fawn was completely oblivious to the strange looks the unicorn was giving her, nor was she offended when the girl stepped around her and started talking to Gina. Fawn gave Gina a wink, as if to inform her friend that it was her turn to try and gather as many secrets about Unicorns from the girl as she could. Fawn would ask Gina later what the two of them ended up talking about. Fawn couldn't follow two conversations at once so she bounded back to Elsie and leaned in close so she could whisper without being overheard. "I hear Unicorn hair is magical, so I'm not surprised she takes such good care of it.. Say... being new best friends and all.. I couldn't trouble you to get me a lock of her hair? I heard its rare and is used in all sorts of wonderful potions." Fawn didn't know if any of that was true, she just wanted to be able to boast about having some actual unicorn hair. Fawn had a bunch of other questions too, about mythical birds and beasts and learning that Elsie's father was the schools Care of Magical Creatures professor made her excited. It made perfect sense too, since only someone with great depth and knowledge about magical creatures could be the only person qualified to raise them. "I've got so many questions for your father! Like Sooooo many. Can you bring him to the Hufflepuff commons room? No, no.. that won't work. Where is his class room located? Does he sleep in the castle? I bet he's super cool." Fawn continued to gibber on with random conversation until Kyra stepped between them and reminded Elsie that they had something to do. Fawn frowned and watched as they departed, then spun around onto Gina, her frown turning into a grin. "See, I told you so. A real phoenix and a real unicorn! Fawn is always correct. And they were everything I thought they'd be. So majestic.. " Fawn emphasized that last sentence, almost visibly swooning. "So what should we do next?! Wanna follow them? Ooo oo, I need to find some apples.. And ribbons. Do you know where I can find some good ribbons in Hogwarts? All this excitement is making me hungry though. Got any ideas?"

"Great! I can't wait. We can do that while we wait for astrology class." She said. And Kyra had presented a great point. They could impress the teacher tomorrow if they knew basic spells already. In fact, impress every teacher with their spell work! Already plotting to repair her wand and win the favors of all her classmates by gaining back not just the lost points; in fact gaining more. Markelm had said something along those lines earlier, so... being the top student again might be worth the hassle. Potions class was already fun, and flying class... so if we work hard we can get people to like us by showing how awesome we are at these lessons! People here actually appreciate hard work, unlike the other school. She decided while daydreaming giggling with friends and being happy walking into the grand hall; waving at all the faces she knew. Elsie was in a daze thinking of the future practically rubbing her hands together as she plotted. "We will be living the posh life in no time." She said quite happily thinking that popular girls were all treated like upper class princesses.

While Elsie and Fawn talked; Gina was pondering on all she heard. At first she had been excited. The idea of being related to enchanted creatures was just, wonderful! But if Kyra and Elsie were so rare, would that mean Gina was just an ordanary witch? Gina was not sure if she wanted to believe Phoenixes were so rare, she had in fact seen another kid in school with red hair. But if red hair was the only feature that identified them... were all redheads related to phoenixes? And all silver haires, unicorns? She watched the Unicorn girl Kyra stand patiently; even though she did not seem to want to talk much, she was polite and friendly. The Phoenix girl, Elsie was chatty and funny. Something about her made Gina smile. Reminded her of her rough and tumble brothers and cousins.

Elsie smiled and shrugged at Fawn who was gushing about being the first to meet a phoenix. She doubted that fawn was the firsr, since there are plenty of famous people from Hogwarts. Or so said Markelm. Surely one of them had seen a phoenix before. It made her wonder what she would be as an adult, would she become a famous witch? Oh, that would be wonderful! She got all dreamy eyed again before Kyra was coming over. Poor Kyra, she was not only assaulted by a bunch of questions and accused of being a Unicorn; a cool accusation to be honest... Elsie was egging the two girls on. She felt slightly guilty using Kyra like that, but by all that is good ... this was just too funny! These two Hufflepuffs really believed they were a Phoenix and a Unicorn! It took everything from laughing in their faces. And Elsie would explain to Kyra once they were alone. So, she was not doing horrible things to her friend.... not really.

Gina had to facepalm quite physically once Fawn tried giving them directions to charms class. The blotches of ink and the map that no longer existed. No wonder they had gotten lost wandering around earlier. Fawn was probably trying to follow that silly map! "Maps should be written on paper, Fawn..." She said putting a hand on her friend's shoulder with a sigh. She was up for learning the school and making a map... eventually. But not if the map was a smeared one on someone's hand...

Elsie had to giggle, she just had to! Oh man, I thought I was bad but then I meet you Fawn and you make me seem together. Thank you. Elsie thought to herself with a shake of her head. A hand map? That girl was lucky there was not ink all over her then... However, a map did sound like a great idea... so Elsie made a note to make one with Kyra once they had the right supplies. Ha! Like Gina just spoke up. Paper is needed to make a map. So, ok Fawn's friend was not as bad as her. Good to know. "Well, thanks for getting that Kyra and yeah; really appreciate the offer Fawn... but as Kyra says she already got the directions." Elsie did not want to get lost again, not unless they had time to kill.

Gina stayed quiet for the most part, knowing Fawn would take up most of the talking. Though she had to ask a few here and there. Wait, Elsie's dad was a teacher? Was that why they all were talking about her? "Is your Dad also a phoenix? Would you mind telling me where I can find your dad? I would love to learn more." Gina had to ask, or were phoenixes only girls? So many questions. so many things she just had to know.

Elsie had to snicker, "No, my Da is not a Phoenix. Though he is as cool as one." She said rather proudly, nodding to both Fawn and Gina. Yes indeed he is super cool. And she knew she would never ever let Markelm know she was making up stories of her being a phoenix; so they would probably not meet.... but. "If you write up a bunch of questions, I can take it to him." She offered with a grin. These two girls could hopefully tell everyone not to mess with Elsie and Kyra; they have curses when they are bullied. Sometimes, I'm bloody brilliant. She thought rather smugly. Fawn's question of wanting Kyra's hair startled Elsie a bit then she shook her head, "Sorry. That is kinda like phoenix feathers. Only granted as a special gift and such. Besides; has to be gifted by the unicorn themselves to hold the best magical properties. She won't hand it to just anyone. Only nice and kind people." Elsie nodded at that. Hopefully it won't get Kyra harassed for her hair, but no way would I give someone her hair.

Gina was smiling to hear how Elsie and Kyra had met. That is so wonderful two magical creatures, failed to be friends just because they shared a train car. What were the odds? "Well, you two seem very close. I can tell you will be the best of friends." she said almost gushing. She had wanted friends like that. But, she kind of found herself watching over Fawn. Not that Fawn wasn't fun to hang around... she just was a bit ...wild at times. Were they friends? Gina had to pause at that. Maybe. "We met in our dorm commons. But, she seems to be rather nice. But, yes. From what I can tell.... she is. I.... try to refocus her when I can." She admitted as she glanced over at her new friend. Fawn might be a bit; odd... but she had a good soul. So, I will be your friend Fawn. She decided.

The group of girls chatted a bit longer before Elsie got nudged by Kyra and she stared at her friend a solid ten seconds with a blank look before she said, "Oh! that... I almost forgot. That. Sorry for the chat and run, but gotta dash. It was nice meeting you two, Gina; Fawn." Elsie said with a wave and she started to run ahead of Kyra with a skip as they headed the opposite direction than where they had wanted to go. Guess we are going to visit Markelm. When Kyra spoke, Elsie finally started to laugh, "Oh, she was hit with something alright." She said, slowing down as she leaned forward with the giggles. She also glanced behind them and shook her head. "I mean, she just made it easy to keep makin up stuff." She giggled a bit more as she spoke. Kyra told her about the classes tomorrow and their basic directions. She calmed down some and nodded. "Sounds good. We can leave breakfast early too. I don like eating a lot in the morning. It's hard enough to wake up let alone chew..." She nodded at the decision and pondered, "Guess we can help Markelm unpack. He is prolly still busy with school stuff. So we can clean that place up for him and then he would reward me with my broom." Eyes sparking at the idea of using her own broom at class, and taking flights. She would pass that stupid class with flying colors and get to use her broom in no time.

Gina was not sure what to take from that encounter. It all seemed a bit like a storybook tale. The girls did seem enchanting, but so did other students. Maybe I'm just too plain Jane..."Ribbons? Why do we need ribbons Fawn?" She sighed at the answer and nodded. "I see. Well, we can get a snack before we go back to our room. It is getting late after all..." she suggested.

"That's a good plan. Too bad we probably won't be doing much magic in astrology class. I hope we don't get too much homework there." Kyra wasn't sharing the same day dream as Elsie. But she thought that if she could at least appear competent, it would improve her overall image. Even though she grew up with magic, she was obviously never allowed to practice it. Her mother had tried to prepare her for Hogwarts, even went as far as hiring her a tutor last year to get her started on some of the basics, like wand movement and understanding magic and the intricacies in using spells, but Kyra wasn't so sure how much flicking a fake wand around in front of her would actually translate to being good at transfigurations, charms, or any other course that required a lot of wand usage. At least she would do well in Herbology for at least a year or so and she was pretty positive her mother would put her to work in their family's greenhouses during breaks and the summer. Kyra almost thought Elsie would start drooling with how she talked about the posh life, her eyes dazed and her hands rubbing together like a mad scientist plotting world domination. Kyra had the posh life.. she wasn't so sure it was that great. She couldn't find it in herself to shatter Elsie's daydream so she decided not to reply to it.

"Really? Paper you say.. That's a brilliant idea! Maybe tonight I'll grab some parchment and then wander about the school and make myself the best darn map this place has ever seen.!" She exclaimed loudly, bringing about some looks from a group of nearby passing students. Fawn wasn't phased at all about being turned down as a tour guide. She listened to Elsie and Gina's back and fourth, and made a huffing noise after Gina was informed that her da wasn't a phoenix. "Yeah, of course he isn't. Even I knew that. Geeezz Gina, you should have asked me first. I'm the expert." she budged in, even though she didn't actually know that and was the furthest thing from an expert. "Well, if you ever need directions in the future. You know where to find me." Fawn didn't realize that the two girls probably didn't know where to find her. Fawn went quiet for a moment and she realized that she didn't even know where to find herself.. which prompted an internal dialogue of how she was supposed to get back to herself if she ever got seperated from herself. This internal conversation in her head actually went on for a good few seconds before some other piece of chattery grabbed her attention. "I think I saw your pa during the grand feast. Gina! Maybe we can just ask him during breakfast or dinner sometime!" Fawn suggested and then spoke to Elsie. "We wouldn't want to waste your time. I bet you've got a lot of phoenix things to do, so I think I'll just write down a bunch of questions and ask him if we see him in the grand hall!"

Fawn was disappointed to learn that the Unicorn would not so easily give up a lock of her hair. This meant that Fawn would have to work extra hard to get on the girls good side, and then do something so jaw dropping generous that there would be no way the girl couldn't not give her some magical hair. The same went for the Phoenix and her feather. The gears in Fawn's head begn to turn.. plots began to be plotted and schemes schemmided. Fawn would make it her goal this year to leave the school with unicorn hair and a phoenix feather! "Nice and kind people. Gotcha. I can be nice and kind! This will be a cinch!"

Kyra and Gina talked, and for the most part, she managed to ignore Fawn's random outburst and exclaimed blabbering that still didn't make much sense to her. "Thank you. And I hope so.. always scaring making friends when your some place new." Kyra listened to Gina reply, and was wasn't sure if she was glad to know Fawn was always like this or not. On one hand, she knew it may be best to avoid her, but on the other hand she could be prepared for the small ball of energy if they did happen to cross paths more often. "Maybe she's just very excited being here. I'm sure she'll calm down once the professors start giving us more homework.. Give her something to pour her energy into." Kyra had no idea how unfocused Fawn could be.. She found Gina to be quiet, but nice enough and polite to talk to. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if Kyra ran into this girl again.

Kyra was glad her message to to Elsie and the two of them dashed off. Elsie seemed to be brimming with energy as she skipped along and Kyra had to speed up to keep pace. Kyra threw Elsie an accusing glare when she admitting to making things up. "Is.. is that why the girl kept going on about me and unicorns and you and phoenix's? What... What exactly did you tell her?" The two of them made their way through the castle and toward the gate that would lead them down to Markelm's hut. Kyra didn't really want to go down there and possibly repeat what had happened the last time, but she decided to give the professor another chance. She knew Elsie would end up dragging her down this way anyway all throughout the year. "My mother says breakfast is the most important meal of the day.. I'm not so sure we should eat lightly." Kyra was even less thrilled about the prospect of Elsie getting ahold of her broom. She just knew the girl would try to teach her how to ride it. "Yeah.. Maybe he can show us how to do the reparo spell? So we can get your wand fixed?" Kyra offered up an alternate suggestion as they left the castle and into the evening air. The sun was beginning to fall and a slight breeze was blowing around Hogwarts, tugging on their hair and clothes. There were plenty of students about the grounds and courtyards. With school just starting and the weather being so comfortable, the children didn't have much of a workload yet and could enjoy a bit of leisure time. "I don't see any lights on in the huts windows. Are you sure he's even in there right now?" Kyra asked as they started getting closer to the hut.

Fawn watched as the two magical creatures departed to do important things. She spun onto Gina with sparkles in her eyes. She was almost practically drooling from excitement, her mouth wide open. She was almost bouncing with joy and excitement. "We need ribbons because Unicorns like ribbons! Didn't you hear anything we were whispering aboutt!. And if we can give her enough ribbons, then she'll gift us with some unicorn hair! That stuff is super magical!" Fawn almost went into a daydreamy like daze as they drifted off back toward the common room, first stopping by the grand hall to see if there was any food left, before making their way back to the Hufflepuff commons room. The two of them had managed to score some muffins, corn bread, and a couple cookies but Fawn was too distracted with grand visions of the future to shove any of the food down their throat. The commons room was getting pretty full when they returned. The hufflepuff students didn't have anymore classes for the evening so a lot of the students seemed to be relaxing and getting ready to turn down for the night. Fawn flung herself down onto an empty couch.

"Oh? I hope we learn lots! I won't mind school work from that class; In fact I'm more worried about that grumpy teacher you mentioned earlier... Shimpett?" Elsie did not want to deal with grumpy teachers. She tended to get on their bad side, somehow... Potions class was fun, even though she was up front... And Herbology ....well ok all plants really were similar. So that will be tough. If the other classes were like those two; it would not be too bad. In fact; it reminded her somewhat of her other school. Deep down, Elsie felt that her earlier schooling gave her a leg up in some things as she was starting to realize most of her classmates had no schooling before. Though; she bit her lip and remembered that a lot of them have been raised in the wizarding world. Unlike her. So, she had to learn fast to catch up and not stand out like a proper ninny. Elsie was balancing on her heels for a moment as she pondered on solutions before she skipped a bit. Kyra seemed like a smart girl, she could probably fill Elsie in on all kinds of wizard information. And, Elsie could tell what it was like living in the Muggle world. In fact, Elsie was so determined to learn like a proper witch. She would give each class her all! Even the evil class with the grumpy teacher. Bring it on!

Gina had to sigh with a smile. Yes Fawn, paper. "How about this weekend we can work on the map. We still not have found, the spot..." She suggested. Not wanting Fawn to be out wandering around at night. Gina felt responsible for Fawn now. As Gina listened, only speaking when absolutely necessary... she realized a few things. She knew why the magical girls were in Ravenclaw. She had heard talk about that house. It was a noble house, filled with brilliant students. I'm glad to be Hufflepuff. Gina realized. It was too much pressure to be so elite.

Fawn seemed to be so sure about everything, Gina had to blush once Elsie, AND Fawn told her that the Professor was not a Phoenix. Though, she had to ask... "Well, then if you're an expert... why are you asking her all kinds of questions?" Gina was so confused, and wondering if following Fawn around was a wise idea. They had gotten lost and wandered; so far. She did not seem to be the type to give directions. However, Gina was not the type either... "Is it ok to bother the Professors during mealtime?" Gina asked Fawn, who just brushed it off with her confident reassurance. Gina barely noticed Fawn's mutterings to herself... she was more focused on wondering if Elsie and Kyra were really a Phoenix and a Unicorn. The girls seemed normal enough, though... a bit... different. Did that really mean they were magical creatures?

"I only had my family before. Friends are new for me." Gina admitted with a blush as she agreed. It was very scary. "Oh, I do hope so. I was rather worried she would lose our house some points. I heard the Ravenclaw house lost some. Which is very scary, since your house is to be better than ours at .... everything. " She could just picture it, negative twenty thanks to Fawn. Oh dear...

Gina waved farewell to the two once they had to help with the Professor. Though, Gina was not sure she liked the excited look in Fawn's eye as the girl talked about ribbons. "What on earth do we need Unicorn Hair for? Oh Fawn..." She sighed but did not finish the sentence. Potions might need it, so I guess it might be useful later. But, it still seemed rather odd... Shaking her head they went to get a snack then head back to their common room. "Well, what do you want to do before bed? I finished my schoolwork already... I can help you with yours; if you want."

------------------------------------------------------------------

Elsie caught her breath from the laughter before she answered, "I should think so. Did you not listen? That girl was off her rocker! She was a nutter alright. I simply agreed with her. Nothing more. Oh, it was such fun. She actually believes I am a phoenix. Of all things." Her laughter returned as they walked towards the groundskeeper's hut. She explained a bit of what she told Fawn, about the apples and hair ribbons. Harmless things that may come in handy. She shrugged off any scolding, then skipped ahead.

"I guess... but Eggs and toast won't take much time. We'll see tomorrow then. I wanta get good seats." Elsie said, balancing on some stones then hopping off onto the grass. Elsie shrugged at the Reparo suggestion and mused about that. "Would be neat to see Markelm use spells. He rarely used any back in London..." She said out loud. Then hurried to the hut. As she got closer, it did seem like the hut was empty. "Nah, he won't mind if I clean it up a bit. He said I can visit." She said and she tried the door. It thankfully opened and she smugly grinned back at Kyra as if saying they were welcome inside.

Once inside, Elsie saw signs of the place being cleaner than before; though some of the trunks were still half full. The fireplace was simmering at a low burn, about to go out and the lights were on low. "We can even practice the spell here I bet." Elsie realized since there was a nice wide space to use.

Kyra couldn't help but pity the girl as she talked of her home life and the lack of having friends. Who could even imagine being a child and having no friends? Kyra grew up with quite a few, though all of her friends had been spread out into the other Wizard Schools of the world. Her best friend had gone to Beauxbatons, and if anyone had asked her several years ago if she knew what school she'd be going to when she came of age, that would have been her answer. It was only because of her mothers position within Hogwats, and her mothers insistence of being close to her daughter, that Kyra had come to Hogwarts. Though her mother would never outright admit it, she knew her mother felt Hogwarts was beneath Kyra. Thinking of her childhood friends, she did hope she would start receiving mail from some of them, and made a mental note to write a few letters of her own. "I'm quite sure you'll have plenty of friends in no time." Kyra assured the girl before the topic switched to that of the overenergetic girl, Fawn. The talk of Ravenclaw and its already widely stated loss of points brought about more guilt. "I don't believe any one house is better than the other. I'm sure Hufflepuff has its own strengths." Kyra assured, but couldn't actually follow that up with any particular strength. Kyra was sharing Gina's thought on Fawn and her predication on causing trouble. She had the feeling that Hufflepuff and that particular girl will become quite infamous for losing house points very soon.

"Elsie.. While I agree the girl is... different.. there are better ways at expressing that than calling her a nutter! And I can't believe you'd tell her all those falsehoods! Now while I do agree she seems very gullible, that is no reason for you to be going around telling her those things!" Kyra attempted to scold Elsie on the things that she had relayed about her conversation with Gina and Fawn and why it was that silliness of Unicorns and Phoenixes that had led to the strange interaction that had ensued. Elsie just seemed to dismiss her scolding though, and Kyra gave up with a sigh. Hopefully nothing bad would come of it, and if she could catch those two girls alone sometime, she would set the entire thing right.

The walk down to the hut was pleasant with nice weather and a soft breeze. "I think your father is out. We should return to the castle." Kyra suggested but Elsie assured her that he wouldn't mind if they visited. The door was also unlocked and Elsie just invited herself right on it. Kyra still felt like they were intruding, and the last time they had gone into the hut it had been a traumatic experience that nearly scared all the hair off her head. At least this time they would just be practicing a very simple spell and not digging around things that didn't belong to them. "Pardon our intrusion.." she muttered before following Elsie into the hut. It was a mite bit cleaner than it was before. She was still struck by the.. lack of space though. The hut was no bigger than her pantry at home and she wondered how someone could live in a space so small. Sure.. the girls dormitory was kinda small and Kyra was secretly uncomfortable sharing a bed chamber with so many other girls, but at least the place was spacious and well furnished. She of course, didn't speak any of these thoughts outloud. "Do.. you think we should practice the spell on something else first? Do you got anything else with you that's broken?" She suggested.

Gina frowned a nanosecond then plastered a fake smile as she agreed. She would have friends in no time. Even if she never had friends other than family before... Speaking of, maybe some of them would write to her... Or... Maybe they all thought she was a curse just like her mother. She quickly hid the growing dismay and kept that plastered smile right on her face. Instead thought of the convercation. She was quite interested to learn how important Point loss was in the school, as well as how important the houses were. She understood that being a Hufflepuff was important, but to be honest she wasn't really paying attention earlier when they were announcing all of the house cup rules. There might be other muggle-born students clueless like her, but so far she hasn't found any. The only schooling she ever dealt with before was Sunday school at the church. So being at Hogwarts was beyond overwhelming. "I'm not quite familiar about being a Hufflepuff just yet, but I know every person has their own strengths. And I'm sure Fawn will gain us some house points... Over the year. Thank you for reminding me about that." She blushed before she added "I wasn't sure who to ask but, the house cup... Do we get to take it home?" she had wondered if she could maybe regain her parents Pride.

Elsie scoffed loudly as she rolled her eyes. "It was funny! And come on! I adore apples and you could always use pretty ribbons for your hair. So it's a win-win so no harm." She Shrugged as she skipped off ignoring the scolding Kyra was giving her. The outside air was nice and crisp is she breathed it in and spun her arms loving this time of year. Once at her father's Hut she just open that damn door like she owned the place. At the question she paused. "Something else broken?" She asked and looked around as she spotted a box on the tiny table nearby. "Here we can try fixing this!" She said as she took an old gray mug from the box it was already chipped and look well loved. She flung The Mug into the room and it shattered at their feet ... at least a few feet away for them but the bits and pieces got a bit too close for comfort. Elsie was a bit startled by Kyra's outburst and put her hands to her hips. "Well how else do you break something?" She asked in a huff of frustration. She then huffed again and threw her hands in the air grumbling saying that she was going to look for something to eat. Like a ravenous squirrel running around fall for forage, Elsie was searching every cabinet, box, and bin that she could find that didn't seem... either dangerous or locked away. Aha! She thought to herself as she found a few sealed bottles that looks like soda. She grabbed one, smack the cap off using a chair then took a experimental sip! It tastes like Christmas candy! "Kyra! Bloody got to try this! It's Ace!" She brought a few bottles over with her and held out the open one. "Come on! After all we need to have energy to do the spell properly. Trust me!" She said as she waved the bottle in front of Kyra's face. Whether the bottle was taken or not, the two girls eventually started to get to work with the spell. Elsie took the bottles of what she did not know as butterbeer, and left them by her bag. She took out her broken wand and it sparked."Oh come on ya old loon. Work with me here!" She muttered to it while rolling the sleeves of her robe and glared at the newly broken mug. Let's door this. Reparo right? Don't backfire wand...

Kyra had briefly wondered about the question Gina had asked her about right before they departed. She wasn't sure if some student or teacher got to take home the house cup, and she admitted as much, but later on while they were walking and making their way to the hut, she thought that perhaps the house went to the house that won it the year prior, and were allowed to exhibit it in their commons room until it was awarded to a different team at the end of the year. That seemed like a logical deduction, but maybe she would think to ask one of the teachers about it later on and get a definitive answer. That was the Ravenclaw thing to do, at least. Maybe even being so eager to learn about the house cup could earn them some extra points.. Her thoughts were broken by chatter from Elsie after they got outside and the conversation changed to Fawn and her peculiarities. Of course, she failed to once again convince Elsie that what she was doing was impolite but with a sigh, she relented. "I guess I could use some ribbons." she muttered with little conviction, but maybe if she agreed with Elsie on this.. she'd just forget all this nonsense with unicorns and phoenixes and ribbons and apples. Maybe it was best to just downplay Elsie and her obvious inclination toward wild schemes.

Once inside the hut, both of them looked around for something that was broken. Elsie didn't take long to find a box with a mug on it, but while it was well used.. Kyra didn't consider it broken. "Elsie.. that doesn't look very broken." She stated but before she could get any other words out, Elsie just raised the mug up and flung it down, shattering the mug. "ELSIE!?! What in Merlins Beard are you doing!? I'm beginning to think you're the one that's gone nutters!" she scolded in a louder than polite volume, stepping back as shards and bits of the mug slid across the floor to her. Still having a horrified expression on her face, she just stared at Kyra as she tried to logically explain her actions. "I said to look for something already broken! not.. not break something that's perfectly fine! What if your father comes in and see's the broken mug before we could fix it!?! or what if we can't fix it!" Kyra's words just seemed to bounce off some magical wall as Elsie threw her hands up and started digging around Markelms things. Kyra sighed and got down on her hands and knees and did her best to gather up the broken pieces of the mug and leave them in a small pile on the floor. Elsie's searching must have come up with something cause she suddently exclaimed and eagerly came back with a couple bottles with her. Kyra relunctantly took one and sniffed it. "Its Butterbeer." she stated and after a bit of convincing, popped her bottle open and took a few sips. Since Butterbeer was pretty much a staple of any wizarding family, she'd had had it before at special occasions or sometimes one of the maids in the house would sneak her a glass. She once even got the house elves to do so on an occasion or two.. But the two of them had business to attend to.

"I think before you go tapping your wand about, we should look at our charms book." Kyra advised, and judging from the look that Elsie gave her.. Kyra guessed that her friend didn't have that book with her, which wasn't so unusual since they hadn't even had charms class.. "Thankfully I've got mine." Kyra squatted down next to Elsie and slid her book bag up onto her lap and unclipped it. After flipping through the pile of books in her bag she withdrew their first year charms bag and put it on the floor in front of her. She opened it up and flipped through the unfamiliar list of charms until they got to the Mending Charm. "Okay.. So.. The Mending Charm was invented by Orabella Nuttley, an employee of the Improper Use of Magic Office in the British Ministry of Magic, in or before 1754. Apparently she used her charm to repair the Colosseum after it had been accidentally destroyed. Thereafter.. " Kyra paused and could tell that Elsie, at the moment, didn't care for the entire history of the charm, just how to use it. Kyra cleared her throat and jumped ahead in the book. "So according to this.. you need to do this slight motion here... while you say the charm, 'Reparo' and then tap the object that you want to fix.. There seems to be other methods of casting the spell but it says those are for more advanced wizards and witches." Kyra finished reading and tilted the book so that Elsie could see the little moving picture that mimicked a hand casting the spell. Kyra pulled out her own wand and did the simple mention, but she didn't try saying the spell incantation. "Seems simple.."

Since Elsie was the one who really wanted the practice, and she was the one who broke the mug, Kyra thought that it was best to just let her give it a try.
Though.. if she had thought it through, having someone with a broken wand, try to repair a broken object, was obviously stupid. Beside, they had come there to practice repairing the wand that was broken and in order to do that.. Kyra would need to be the one casting the spell! Of course, that didn't occur to her as Elsie jerked her hand about and shouted "reparo!" Her wand sparked to life like a firecracker before it shot a flicker of magic jerkily to the left, away from the mug. Kyra yelped and scooted to the side, watching as the flicker of magic shot across the window... The windows glass broke as the magic hit it, shards of glass falling to the floor. The shards of glass then repaired themselves, while on the floor, then fell over and shattered again.
Kyra cringed but Elsie didn't seem deterred as the girl turned her attention back to the mug, and with a determined huff, Kyra watched the girl try the spell again. This time an entirely different spell seemed to come out of the wand as the tip of Elsies wand began spewing a dark smoke that quickly filled the room. Elsie ended up having to drop the wand and both of them ended up getting up and like a couple of fools, used their cloaks to try and bellow all the smoke out of the hut, while coughing the entire time.. Kyra attempted to talk Elsie down after they got enough smoke dispersed that they could see again, but Elsie seemed even more determined and with a very over dramatic flick of her hand and wand, Elsie shouted the spell again, adding extra Uuuummpphhhff to how she said it. This time the wand shot out again in a weird direction, down and to the left... and the reparo hit Kyra's charms book. The book suddenly exploded in a flurry of torn paper that went all over the room.. Kyra, in disbelief, kinda just plopped down on her rump and stared at the shredded remains of her charms book. Her mother was going. to. kill. her... twice. "My charms book..." she whispered in disbelief. "I think we should give up.." Kyra muttered. A voice from the door way echoed that sentiment and Kyra almost jumped out of her skin as she turned to whomever the voice belonged to.

Professor Gwendolyn Davies Erwood had been finishing up some notes for upcoming lectures (something which should have been finished up long before the school year had started, but she was quite known for procrastination) in her office when, out of the window in her office, she had noticed black smoke blowing out the chimney, door, and window of the hut down on the groundskeeper hut, the groundskeeper hut that she knew was inhabited by the Care for Magical Creatures this year. Seeing no fire, but still struck with that instinct all teachers have, she immediately left her office, her long legs taking her quickly down several sets of stairs, through the grand hall and outside. By the time she was on the wonderful grass and had the hut back in view, much less smoke was seeping from within, and there were no signs of fire. Maybe that professor Nicholais had overcooked dinner or had brought some smoke breathing creature into his hut. Regardless of what may or may not be inside the hut, Professor Erwood decided to continue that way. Since starting at the school she had not had much alone time with any of the other teachers, so this would give her a chance to properly introduce herself to one of her fellow professors. Of course, what she found when she arrived at the hut was, instead of a professor and some overcooked food or an adorable smoke/fire breathing creature, was instead two obviously first year students about to make a mistake, and since they had left the door open, and there was still a hazy cloud of smoke in the hut, they didn't even see her step into the hut to observe the red headed girl enthusiastically wave her wand about to try a reparo spell. It only took a glance at the wand that the girl was using to know that this wasn't going to work well, and to no surprise, the spell backfired and instead unreparo'd the charms book between the two girls. "I too, think you should give up. You'll not repair anything with that wand of yours."

Kyra was pretty sure they had just lost their house some more points, and would be on the next train to detentionville as the professor made her presence known. Professor Erwood, the charms teacher, was a tall woman with long thick burgundy hair done up in loose thick braids. The professor wore thin glasses across her nose, but exhibited a friendly smile and demeanor even while she stood next to the door frame with her hands crossed over her chest. Kyra wasn't even sure how to explain all this as her mouth just kind of opened, closed, opened again, closed, and opened once more. Anything she could say would make it sound like she was an unwilling party to all of this and it was all Elsies fault (even if it kinda was..) but she also didn't want to get Elsie, or herself, into trouble so she just ended up clamping her mouth shut and let Elsie try to explain all this away.. adding in little bits here and there if she could.

When Elsie proudly showed Kyra the Exotic drink, she expected a form of excitement but instead the girl was unfazed. Apparently the drink was called butterbeer and Kyra acted like it was common in the magic world. Why did Da keep this from me all of my life!? Elsie was in dismay as she happily gulped another mouthful. Now that she knew about it she will beg for it every holiday... And special events and possibably for father daughter days.

Truth be told, Elsie was partly curious about the history of a spell but not right before using it!!! Especially when you had Da's favorite mug shattered on the floor before you. Okok I bit off more than I should but smash our heads together and we got this! She thought while glancing at Kyra. We're Ravenclaws!!! She took her wand out and started mimicking the image in the book. So... Like this? She mused while flicking her wrist one last time then she attempted the spell with a confident shout. The sparks flew from her wand and instead headed towards the window. Both girls shrieked as the glass shattered. Though it was fascinating how it mended itself before shattering once more. Maybe that meant she almost did it right? She mused and she rolled up the sleeves of her robe. She changed the way she said the word since she was sure she got the wrist movements right. This time a dark smoke billowed from her wand. Startled, Elsie dropped her wand in a panic as the two girls tried to clear the air with their cloaks. Dread filled Elsie as she realized she REALLY had to learn this spell to fix things now. Da was going to ground her till Summer!!!! She thought whilst choking on the nasty smoke.

Finally the air was clear enough to try again. And this time, boy this time she was cursing at her stubborn wand. Her deep cockney accent was quiet obvious,a and the swears were quite colorful as she vented. Why was her wand being this way? Didn't it WANT TO BE FIXED? She tried strangling it but it was a wand. "OK now bloody work dammed you!" She muttered as her accent stayed around. She then took a calming breath as she stepped before the shattered mug. One last time then let Kyra try she told herself. "Reparo!" She said with great determination. Again the magic flung out at an angle and before anyone could properly react; the charm book was now paper confetti. Elsie was in shock as she slowly lowered her wand feeling horrible. She was about to say something to try and somehow fix things or cheer Kyra up but instead another voice spoke up. She didn't bother looking towards the voice. Due to the frustrations of the day, Elsie was done trying to hide her temper. Or slang. No matter how long her old school tried to get that stamped out of her. "What ya mean give up? I never give up. Even ask me Da! Not me fault this wand wants ta be as stubborn as I and not wantin to work the way I want it..." She said rather hotly before she realized this was an adult before them. Not a fellow classmate. Annnd... Most adults at this school; worked at the school. And from through look of awe Kyra had, this woman was one of the teachers. Mental Note to self; always look at Kyra first to see if Adults are near. Will safe myself lots of trouble... Though at least this teacher didn't seem offended by her language. "Mum..." Elsie quickly added awkwardly with a sheepish curtsy and look to Kyra. It took Elsie a moment to realize the teacher said something about her wand. She took a quick glance at it and frowned as she dug deep and calmed down to find the right words. "Pardon my asking," she cleared her throat and soothed her robes bringing back some of her manners. "My Father told me I can come here anytime I wanted to study in quiet. Were you here looking for him?" She knew it was best to stay on the good side of most adults. Especially teachers. They had this thing about wanting respect from everyone. Plus, they don't need proof against you to punish you and cause trouble for you. Truly unfair. So, she even added a freckled smile for good measure just to be safe. What did this teacher want?

At the anwer; Elsie mused and once again shared a look with her friend. "I'm Elsie Nicholas and this is Kyra Hallow. You caught us at a bad time. My wand seems to be acting up and I want to get it acting... Normal by class tomorrow since my Da can't take me to get it fixed till this weekend. Figured if I learned the reparo spell proper it would fix my wand or; Kyra could do it. Instead things just went haywire. Things are not normally like this for us..." she sheepishly chuckled as she lay the excuses on thick but adding cute innocent green eyes does not hurt. When the teacher asked to see the wand, Elsie handed it over eagerly. Maybe she would fix it for them! But instead her hopes were crushed and tears started to fill her eyes as she was informed that her wand was beyond repair. "But... ..." She started to say growing quite upset. She had tried her best and still failed. "I knew it... It's a sign... I'm not meant to be here after all... " she sobbed as she looked at her broken wand. She wanted her dad right now. Or a hug. Magic school was way harder than normal school.

Professor Erwood couldn't help but chuckle inwardly at the girls fiery attitude and cockney'd accent. At least the first year had the sense to be a bit more polite once she realized who she was talking to. These were obviously a couple first years that she would end up teaching tomorrow since she didn't recognize either of them, but she liked to see students who were eager to learn. She stepped further into the room and access the mischief. "Your the daughter of Professor Nicholias? And no, I wasn't looking for him exactly. I happen to spot a bit of smoke coming out from the groundskeepers hut from my office and came to investigate." She replied, then introduced herself. "I don't believe I've taught the two of you yet but I'll be your Charms teacher, Professor Erwood. I quite look forward to teaching you, Elsie and Kyra. And I'd say I caught you at a good time. If you had kept up with trying to repair whatever that is on the floor, then you'd probably taken the entire hut down, eventually." She stepped carefully over the blown bits of paper in the room toward the girls and held out her hand. "Mind if I take a look?" The girl handed over her wand and Professor Erwood held it up and examined it closely. She didn't know much about wand lore, but she knew enough ti know that a wand this broken couldn't be mended and that using a reparo spell would have no effect. "I hope things aren't normally like this for you. Seems you've done a number on this wand.. but I'm afraid there is nothing I, or any other witch or wizard can do. Wands are extremely complicated, and you've no choice but to wait for the weekend to get a new one." The news seemed to devastate the girl as tears came to her eyes and the girl seemed convinced that it was a bad sign of sorts, telling her she wasn't meant to be at Hogwarts. Professor Erwood had heard about students feeling a lack of confidence during their first year and not feeling as if they belonged. Erwood squatted down to be more level with the red headed girl and put a hand on the girls shoulder. "I'm not astronomy professor, but I wouldn't take this as a bad sign. I don't think that wand suited you anyway, and I'm sure you'll enjoy another trip to Diagon ally to get another one." She hoped her words would help, cause truth was.. she wasn't very good at consoling young children. She was used to working out her problems on a quidditch patch.. with a bludger, hitting people. "Now, how about we get this cleaned up before your father see's the mess you've made." The professor slipped her wand out from beneath her robes and stepped back. With a slow twirling motion of her hand, all the remaining smoke in the room began to twirl toward her until all of it was sucked into the tip of the wand. She then waved her wand toward the window with broken glass beneath it and the glass reformed and floated up and back into place, another gesture with her wand caused all the pages and shredded paper on the floor to flurry around and finally resettle in the book. The book flutted about before coming to a close, as new as the day Kyra's mother bought it.

Kyra was pretty certain that they were both well on their way to detention and losing their house some more points. Elsies improper language alone was shocking enough to warrant some sort of punishment, or so she thought. The professor stepped into the room and Elsie did the pleasure of introductions. She decided to just keep quiet and mope and let Elsie try to explain themselves out of this problem. She was saddened to hear that Elsies wand was pretty much worthless now and couldn't be repaired and even if Kyra had tried the spell herself, it wouldn't have done anything. "I'm sorry Elsie.. but at least you only have to wait a couple days to get a new one." she tried to sound positive to cheer Elsie up. The professor wasted no time at expertly cleaning up their mess. She could see why this lady was the charms professor.. she made it seem completely effortless. "My book!" she exclaimed and crawled over to it and flipped through the pages. It was basically in perfect condition. The only thing left to fix was the broken mug on the floor. Kyra looked up at the professor. "We.. we were trying to fix the professors Mug. It accidentally tipped over earlier and we.. we thought it would be a good item to practice the reparo spell on." Kyra felt weird using even the smallest lie to explain how the mug was broken. She was disheartened when the professor explained that she wouldn't fix the mug for them, but then prodded Kyra to try it. "What? Me!?

Professor Erwood left what was identified as a mug, on the floor on purpose. It would be a good teachable moment. "I see, is that so? Well, since that mug wasn't the outcome of a faulty wand, I think I'll leave it to you to fix it." The professor wasn't at all surprised at Kyra's reaction to the suggestion. "Of course. Now let see, page 43 was it?" The professor waved her wand and the book opened once more and flipped hastily through the pages on its own till it landed back on the reparo page. She then walked over to the silver haired witch and kneeled down next to her. Reaching out, she gently took Kyra's wand wrist with her hands. "Like this. Not too jerky or you put too much into it and the pieces will fly all over the place. And you need to think about what the object looks like when completed, and be steady when you say the spell. Re pa ro. Nice and smooth." Professor let go of the girls wrist and stood back up and stepped back, making a gesture to have the girl give it a try.

Kyra wasn't so positive that having her try was a good idea, but Professor Erwood took hold of her hand and guided her through the motion and explained how to cast the spell. Kyra nodded, but kept glancing at the sniffling, distraught Elsie. She felt like it wasn't right to be practicing magic anymore with Elsie being upset but at the same time she had to listen to her teacher. After giving it a few practice runs, Kyra glanced at Elsie, then at the mug and took a deep breath. She did as she was instructed, waving the wand in a slow and smooth motion. "Reparo" she muttered. The pieces of the mug began to shake and vibrate before starting to move and reshape themselves into a mug like shape. Kyra felt a swell of excitement that suddenly crashed as the mug shards stopped and clattered back to the floor. Dejected, she looked up at the professor.

The professor watched her student attempt the spell, the mug starting to take form before it rattled back into a messy pile. She smiled at Kyra, seeing the dejected expression on her face. "Very good. Don't feel bad if you don't get it on the first try. It takes some students weeks to learn certain charms. Try sounding more confident next time and keep practicing.. and tomorrow you can show me again. Now, if you'll excuse me." Professor Erwood turned and headed toward the door. "I must get back to planning my lectures. Please try not to destroy anything else. And I can walk the two of you back to the castle if you'd like" If the girls accepted the offer, she'd walk back with them to the castle, if not then she would head back on her own.

Kyra didn't want to leave without Elsie, and it seemed Elsie didn't want to go back with the professor, so she declined the offer. After the professor was gone, she put her wand away and walked over to Elsie. "I'm sorry about your wand.."

Elsie blushed deeply at the chuckle but was grateful there was no long ranty scolding right after. Upon hearing 'daughter of Professor Nicholais' Elsie swelled with pride. Though at the mention of smoke, she glared at her wand in embarrassment. "Yup! He's me Da!" She said with great pride while ignoring the smoke. She did, however, glance at Kyra and the two girls greeted the professor warmly. Elsie's niceties came peeling away once she learned they may have taken the entire hut down. "If a stupid bloody reparo spell can knock down a hut, shouldn't it mean it wasn't properly built in the first place?" She cleared her throat then smiled before she looked at Kyra to have her clarify. Once asked to take a look, Elsie blanked for a brief second then realized the Professor meant her wand. Handing the wand over Elsie watched curiously. Her temper started to flare once more as she tried to explain the damn muppet her over causing her wand to crack in the first place but she bit her tongue and calmed down once she heard there was nothing to be done. In fact, a lump went to her throat and her poor little heart sank as tears started to form. She blurted her worries and the professor knelt by her trying to be reassuring. Sure diagon ally seemed fun but she sniffled as more tears fell and she merely nodded to both of them she even attempted a smile to Kyra but her heart just wasn't in it. "Thank you..." Was all she could manage and she gloomily sniffled while looking at her unfixable wand. How am I able to do classes tomorrow then??? Was swimming in her mind. But she did get momentarily distracted when Professor Erwood used magic to fix the book, clear up the smoke and repair the glass. It was beautiful to see this magic go to work! When the mug was all that remained; Elsie was surprised to hear Kyra lie for her. She wanted to wrap her friend in a huge hug just for that alone. She made a note to thank her proper once alone.

It was a bit discouraging to watch a magic lesson and not be able to participate, and just remembering that her wand was utterly broken brought more tears to her eyes. She tried to keep the crying quiet and not interrupt things but just remembering what classes she had tomorrow and how school had gone so far brought more tears in a steady flow. I want Da.... She sobbed inwardly and hugged herself. Eventually, the private lesson was done with the cup almost repaired but it fell back apart. The professor announced she had to be off and the girls decided to stay in the hut. Finally alone once more Elsie hurried over to Kyra into a hug as soon as she spoke. "Thank you... You're a good friend..." She cried.

Once the sniffles subsided Elsie released Kyra, straightened her robes and then muttered they needed to still fix the mug. "Where did he put the glue..." She frowned as she started digging around. Plan of attack? Glue it; hide it annnnd hope he never ever learns what happened here this day!!!

Professor Erwood was glad that the two of them of them knew how to be polite when they needed to be, but it didn't take long for Elsie to let that cockney accent overpower her speech. Of course the girl, Kyra, was almost overly polite but she was the daughter of a prestigious professor and botanist. Erwood thought that the pair in front of her couldn't be more different from each other. "Well, that's the thing with broken wands. Even simple spells can have catastrophic results. I'll tell you a fun story about a broken wand and an Aguamenti charm someday." The girl then went on a tyrade about how her wand had gotten broken but the professor didn't bother asking for clarification or asked which student she was referring too. Keeping silent, the girl ended up clamping her mouth closed herself and stopped her story. "Mmm-hmm." Professor Erwood felt bad for the little girl, but she also knew that it wasn't the end of the world by any means and one day of class without a wand wasn't going to make or break the girls wizarding school experience.

The other girl seemed like she had more of a confidence problem than an inability to problem as she attempted fixing the mug with pretty good results. Kyra Hallow was from a strong wizarding family that ran strong with magical blood, it wouldn't have surprise her if the girl would have that mug fixed by the end of the weekend. As to.. how the mug got broken.. she had a feeling it didn't just tip over accidentally but she didn't say anything. Kids were good at breaking things and in this case, there didn't seem to be any foul play afoot. Elsie had declined her offer of walking them back to the castle and she could tell that Kyra wasn't going to leave her friend alone in the hut, so the professor bid them well and made her way back to the hut. She was a bit lost in her own headspace when a voice brought her back. She blinked to see that she had walked right past the Professor whose hut she just left, it seemed he was heading back that way now and had tried to get her attention in passing.

The hug surprised Kyra but she wrapped her arms around her friend and patted her on the back. "Of course. Just.. please don't make a habit of breaking your fathers things." She was released and glad to see Elsie had gotten a hold of herself. Elsie then turned and started going through her fathers things.. looking for some thing called glue. While she was off looking for this glue stuff, Kyra walked over to the mug and knelt down next to the piece. She had considered grabbing her wand again and trying the Reparo spell again, but she didn't want to continue to discourage her friend by waving around magic while Elsie couldn't do so. Elsie finally came back holding a bottle of something with the word "glue" written on the side. "What's glue..?" she asked. Elsie had to explain to her that since muggles wouldn't just wave around a wand and magically fix things, they had to use this sticky substance to bind two things together. Of course it sounded ridiculous... though in the recesses of her mind, she thought that her mother once told her about her about a substance that came from one of her plants that would bind things together permanently. Maybe this stuff and this glue were kinda the same. Regardless, Kyra, like most wizards, had no faith in archaic muggle ways, so she couldn't help but wrinkle her nose at the idea.
"Instead of muggle.. glue.. how about we just take it with us? I don't think your father will notice immediately and once were better at magic, we can fix it ourselves and return it while he's not looking, or you can give it back to him as a present or something." Kyra didn't really give Elsie the chance to argue or even try the glue as she opened her bag and swept all the pieces into it and then closed her bag. Kyra went back to the table where the bottles of butterbeer were still sitting. She grabbed hers and took another sip. "So what do you think we should so now?" she asked. Whatever they answered, it wasn't but a minute longer before a creak at the doorway had both of them turn around. Professor Nicholais walked in with his hands deep in his pockets, but he didn't seem at all surprised to see them in his hut.

Professor Nicholais had finished up some tasks inside Hogwarts and was on his way back to his hut when he had passed the charms professor heading from the same direction that his hut was. "Professor." he greeted, and at first she seemed not to hear him till she stopped after another couple steps and turned to face him. He exchanged some pleasantries and properly introduced himself, then asked what she was doing out of the castle. As it turns out, she had just returned from his hut where he was informed that his daughter and one of her friends were waiting for him. It didn't really surprise him that much, but it still didn't seem to explain why the Charms professor was at his hut and she didn't elaborate as she bid him good day and headed back into the castle. Professor Nicholais continued on his way and entered his hut to find his daughter and Kyra sipping on some of his butterbeer. "Didn't I tell you not to go through my things?" he asked as he stepped inside, but his tone wasn't a scolding one and once he saw how red Elsie was in the face and how her cheeks were swollen like she had just been crying, he frowned and went over to his daughter. "Elsie, are you alright?.

"Markelm!" Elsie was once more in tears as she tackled her father in a hug. She told him of her broken wand and how Professor Erwood said it was beyond repair. She then confessed she feared that everyone would laugh at her because she did not have proper clothes for the school, her now broken wand was dreadful and she was just simply not meant to be there. There were many tears before Markham relented and super promised to get Elsie not only a new wand but new clothes and any other school supplies that she needed. Elsie eventually calmed down then announced that she was staying at the groundskeeper hut until they would go on such a trip. Which of course produced a fight and poor Kyra felt so out of place overhearing such an argument. Eventually, things calmed down then Markelm confiscated Elsie's broken wand and both Kyra and Markelm convinced Elsie she was to go back to the castle. After all, if any bullying were to happen she could easily outsmart them. Before she left, Elsie had a secret plot to learn hexes from Markelm very soon just in case.

"Da?" Elsie asked as she opened the door. Markelm glanced over hoping it wasn't more to do with spending money. "Can we have dinner together this weekend?" Elsie asked nervously as she rocked on the back of the heels of her shoes, a classic sign of unease. She was trying to get used to not seeing Markelm as often, but maybe during weekends, we can have a proper dinner just the two of us. Like before. Markelm paused then suggested; "while we are wand shopping we can go get dinner." Elsie's smile lit up the room as she excitedly agreed. She was practically skipping while she left after thanking him. The girls started heading back towards the castle and Elsie's joyful skip slowed the closer they got. If Kyra mentioned anything; Elsie would confess she was worried about tomorrow. How their classes all seemed to need a wand. What if she were punished for not having the proper items?

Eventually, the conversation went towards Astronomy class and Elsie was gushing with questions. Would the wizards know about the muggle Hubble? Or Herschel? They HAVE to know Galalo... Right? What if there are famous wizard/witch astronomers they will learn about? Will any of the classes be in the Ravenclaw commons? The enchanted ceiling always looks like nighttime showing the stars. The few times they studied the stars at her old school she wanted to learn more. In fact, she is so excited to look at the stars she won't be able to sleep! Kyra seemed confused by some of Elsie's questions so she decided she would ask the Professor tonight. They went to grab some early dinner, but the butterbeer surprisingly filling. Talks were of hopeful school year dreams and some friendly chatter with fellow Ravenclaws. Flying class got the first years all in a better mood and some bragged they planned extra credit to gain back the missing points. If that's true, Ravenclaw had little to fear! Elsie enjoyed a bite making sure to bring up a snack for Pyx.

Once back in the west tower; the girls were tempted to flop right there in the common room and work on the mug but, it was so crowded. Older Ravenclaws were taking over with hanging out with friends, some were working on projects with classmates for extra credit and others were doing wizards chess. No tables were free. It was suggested they go somewhere more private so they dragged their bags up more stairs and went to the dorm. Elsie flopped by her bed and sighed dramatically then giggled when Pyx came over to cuddle. "Hello to you too," she said giving the ferret a scritch to the head. Japopo came slithering out from under the bed, slowly saying hello to Kyra. There were two other Ravenclaws in the first-year dorm. One was reading a fiction book while the other was studying potions. Kyra carefully placed the mug pieces on the floor by Elsie's bed. Elsie then remembered a spell she read about last night when she was having problems sleeping. Digging through her books she pulled out her charms book and flipping through before she found the spell. She fed Pyx while talking about the spell that may work on the mug. "I was flipping through the book before. It came to mind when you were saying you never heard of glue. This must be what you all use! See?" She flipped the book around to show Kyra and she sat on her bed. Placing Pyx on the bed she gave the little ferret the rest of her snack and went to look at the shattered mug. "We can take turns trying. Professor Erwood was sayin its ok to not get it right on the first try. So can I borrow your wand? I'll try then you!" She was rather convincing and soon with Kyra's wand in hand she stood before the mug and cleared her throat. She was about to wave the wand when one of the girls peeked in. "Oh! You're doing magic! Let's see!" Elsie's confidence wavered greatly but she squeaked out; "Epoximise!" Instead of a fixed mug, it was a shower of sticky rain getting on everything within fifteen feet from Elsie. She was standing in a shock and tried to drop the wand but it firmly stuck to her hand. In fact! Gobs of the glue-like sticky substance was in hair, clothes, shoes, fur, beds, curtains, rugs and more. "M...maybe we should have put the mug back together better before using this spell..." Elsie said quietly.

Markelm was beginning to feel like he was living the same day over and over again as his daughter recounted the troubles of her day and continued to think that she wasn't right for Hogwarts, a mentality he hoped would pass soon. Of course, he couldn't be angry at her though, since the circumstances were party his doing since he thrust her into Hogwarts and the wizarding world with no notice and very little preparation. The only way to calm Elsie down was to promise her that during their trip to Diagon Alley over the weekend that he would buy her not just a new wand, but also new clothes. He felt like he'd probably end up buying her more than that too. Afterward Elsie announced that she was staying in the hut till the weekend which started an argument. Markelm felt embarrassed that a first year student, Kyra, had to be witness to one of their father daughter fights. Soon he got her to relent and then took away her wand, explaining that if she continued to try using it, that it would only continue to produce trouble for her. As she was leaving, she got him to promise her dinner over the weekend.

Kyra was kind of glad that Professor Nicholais appeared just when he did since she wasn't sure else how else to cheer up her friend other than a hug and some encouraging words. It seemed to Kyra, that more than anything, Elsie was just home sick, though how someone could be home sick from a mostly muggle home was beyond her, not to mention Elsie wasn't but a short away from her father. Still, Kyra tried to remember that for her, living in a world of wizards, witches, and magic was normal and even though Hogwarts gave Kyra the opportunity to FINALLY practice magic, many things were still very familiar to her. Still.. it was just hard for her to wrap her head around Elsies constant doubts about belonging here at Hogwarts. If she didn't belong here, she wouldn't have gotten an acceptance letter. Kyra was left to be a spectator as Elsie assaulted her father with her worries and the troubles of the day. Markelm seemed very used to this though as he knew exactly what to say to get Elsie to cheer up, even if promising to spoil her were those right words. Just as it seemed Elsie was cheered up, she announced she wasn't leaving this hut till the weekend and that started another round, only this time Elsie was the one who had to relent, give up her wand, and agree to go back to the castle, though she did secure dinner with her father before they headed back. Kyra could never have done that with her mother. It was always her mothers way, and that was final. There was never any room for debate. Her father would, in secret, spoil her or allow Kyra to do things her mother disproved of, but she and her father had to be secretive about it.

Kyra was just glad Elsie was back to her normal self as they headed back toward the castle. As was becoming the norm, Elsie kept skipping on ahead and would have to pause for the much slower, less hyper Kyra to catch up. Elsie jabbered on about astronomy and started to ask about things that Kyra could only guess were Muggle related. "we haven't even had our first Astronomy class, Elsie. I've really no idea who or what your talking about. And I can't say I look forward to Astronomy actually.. seems kind of boring." Their next destination was the Grand Hall for dinner, but Elsie didn't seem to have plans on staying very long and the butterbeer still sloshing around in their bellies was more filling than she had imagined. The two of them stayed for some chatter amongst their fellow Ravenclaws. That kid, Clyde, sat a few spaces down from both of them and he seemed to be going on with some of the other boys in Ravenclaw about how his great great grandfather was some pioneer of this or that. The older Ravenclaws seemed to ignore him, and most of the younger kids for the most part. Before they had sat down at the long Ravenclaw Table, Elsie got curious about a book a girl named Tiffany, the 5th year perfect, was reading. But the look that girl gave both of them sent a zig zag of shivers down their spines and they both left it alone after that. Talks during dinner seemed to mostly be about flying class for the first years, and once Elsie and many of the other boys and girls got started on quidditch and broomsticks, Kyra decided to pull out a book and do some light reading. It didn't last long though as small hands appeared at the top of her book and pulled it down, revealing a energetic Elsie on the other side, followed by a whatcha reading and then an offer to head back to the commons room. "Sure. I picked up some fallen leaves on our way back up to the castle that I know Japopo would like. I bet he's hungry." The two of them departed from the great hall, Elsie taking with her a snack for Pyx. Though.. that seemed an awful lot of food for a ferret and Kyra susptected Elsie took a late night snack for herself too.

The commons room was still busy with eager Ravenclaw students doing some early studying, some whining that it was unfair of their professors to assign them work on their first week back to Hogwarts. Some were playing Wizards chess, though.. it seemed like a stalemate as two bespectacled 4th years just stared unmovingly at the wizards chess board. The chess pieces were more animated than the older boy and girl.. The suggestion was made to go up to the dorms, so Elsie and Kyra headed to the first years girls dormitory where it was indeed, much more quiet. "I just wish I could go to sleep right now. I think Astronomy is going to be my least favorite class.." Kyra bemoaned. While Elsie was feeding her loving and affectionate Ferret, Kyra gave her slug a gently one finger pet along his slimey body and then pulled the leaves out of her robes and made a small feeding nest for her slug under the bed, to which Japopo retreated to and started to very slowly eat. The mug was removed from her bag and placed on the floor in front of her bed and Elsie excitedly started talking about a spell in one of her books. Far off in the reaches of her brain came a warning about wands and spells or something that her father had told her, but she couldn't quite remember what it was. "I don't know Elsie, I don't see this one in our Standard Book of Spells." Kyra knew she couldn't persuade Elsie against trying though so she handed her wand over to Elsie. Right before casting the spell, one of the other girls in the dormitory popped over, apparently interested in what Kyra and Elsie was doing. Kyra couldn't tell if the girl was genuinely excited at seeing magic, or was being snarky.. Elsie gave her wand a whirl and squeaked out the spell and the next thing the three of them knew, a sticky white liquidy substance was raining out of her wand. Both Kyra and the other girl screamed in shock, and a little bit in disgust. Kyra stumbled backwards and nearly tripped over a skittering Pyx who also was victim to Elsies failed spell casting. The sticky rain got on everything, their beds, curtains, the floor, clothes.. and worst of all, hair. The other Ravenclaw girl put her hands in her hair to try and flick some of the drying epoxy stuff out of it but ended up just getting both her hands stuck in her hair, which lead to more screaming and shouting. The only other girl in the dorms ran over to try and help, and she ended up getting her hands stuck in the other girls hair also! Things just seemed to go from bad to worse and Elsie tried to drop the wand but it stayed glued to her hand. Kyra watched helplessly as Elsie started to shake her hand which only caused the wand to spark to life again and fire more sticky stuff out from the tip, much of it spraying the front of Kyra's robes. Maybe it was from years of her mother worrying over her appearance, especially her hair, that made Kyra immediately not put her hands in her hair, but she was a second too late in warning Elsie as her friend tried to wipe some of the stuff off the bangs of her hair.. Elsie got her wand hand stuck to her forehead as a result. Kyra kept her arms out wide, breathing rapidly in panic now. She realized that she couldn't put her arms down if she wanted to cause the sticky substance all over her robes had started to dry and her robes were as stiff as the walls of hogwarts. The other two girls were screaming frantically and entangling themsevles even more onto one another. Elsie was flipping out, Pyx was chittering angrily. Kyra was wide eyed and frozen in shock. Elsie had quietly mentioned something about the mug, but with the screaming and chaos, Kyra didn't catch it. She tried to take a step forward to run for help, but her shoes were stuck to the floor. She did managed to slip her feet from her shoes, but after taking a step forward she realized the quilt on her bed was stuck to her butt and she was taking it with her as she moved forward. Next came a clamor of stomping and steps from the stairs and suddenly a group of Ravenclaw girls appeared, followed by gasps, swears, and general shock at the state of the first years dorms and the 4 girls in it. Elsie and Kyra at once tried to yammer an excuse, while the two other hysteric screaming girls repeated "SHE DID THIS. THIS IS ELSIES FAULT".

One of the girls who had responded to all the screaming and chaos was that 5th year perfect they briefly got glared at during dinner. Kyra thought that girls glare was bad when Elsie had disturbed her readings, but this glare was like being stabbed in the chest by two cannonballs. She quickly started to bark out orders to everyone and it was obvious by the response that Tiffany was well respected, or feared, among the other Ravenclaws. You three, get those girls to the hospital wing, quick as you can. Use whatever passages you can to avoid people, but at this hour with all students out of class.. your going to get seen. And Alice, I want you with me. Were the only ones up here right now 5th year or older who can undo this mess. Tiffany stepped into the room and rolled up the sleeves of her shirt before barking another order. "If anyone other than a teacher stops you, just ignore them and keep walking. I will not lose the house cup again this year because of some useless little first years!"

The girls that Tiffany had instructed helped free the 4 of them from the floor and got them moving. Kyra had no shoes on, Elsie had one shoe, and the other two girls got the goop so bad that Tiffany ended up carefully using a severing charm to remove the bottom soles of their shoes. Down the stairs they went, Elsie with a wand in her hand, stuck to her forehead, carrying Pyx the best she could with the other cause she staunchly refused to leave without him and after much screaming and some more tears, got Tiffany to relent. Kyra couldn't unstuck herself to the quilt of her bed so she was just walking in socks with a quilt trailing behind her. The two other girls were so badly entangled that after the sticky stuff completely dried, two male Ravenclaws, a 6th year and a 7th year, were enlisted from the commons room to carry the two first years. Kyra glanced at Elsie in the commons room and saw that she too, was staring intently at the floor in shame and neither of them could meet the gazes of their classmates.

What followed was probably the strangest and most embarrassing ensemble of students ever seen at Hogwarts in recent memory. Two guys carrying two stuck together girls, being followed by one dragging a blanket and walking like a statue cause her clothes were stiff and the other, walking less like a statue, but still in a stiff fashion, with a hand stuck to her forehead while holding a ferret. Exiting the commons room, the older Ravenclaw students did what only Ravenclaws would do, and had a lenghty debate on the best way to get to the hospital wing to avoid as many students as possible. Eventually a path was settled upon and off they all went. All in all, it went horrible. Kyra counted 38 STUDENTS that saw them in the halls. that was more than enough to spread what happened. Rumors were bound to swirl. Silver lining was that they didin't bump into any teachers or roaming groups of slytherin students. One or two slytherin hecklers was bad enough, but an entire group of them and things could have ended in spells flying about. Kyra was doing her best not to sob the entire way, Elsie wasn't doing much better and the other two girls were worse. The older Ravenclaws somehow got locked into a debate on the properties of the epoximise sticky stuff and its relevant uses, which didn't make Elsie or Kyra feel better. After what felt like an eternity the group finally arrived in the hospital wing where nurse Ivy Rain exclaimed "MERLINS BEARD!" loud enough for the few students sitting in hospital beds to look up and stare shocked at the group walking into the room.
