Sai blinks, and flinches at his surprise, and looks down blankly as she packs the maps and books just as efficiently. "My sister and I were chased from our previous home. The people there had guns and such...so we are both familiar with the looks of them." The neko said the little of her story with obvious fear and edge in her soft voice, making her seem more angry then she was.

"I'm... Sorry to hear that..." Next, he passes up some sleeping mats, things to start a fire, things for cooking, etc.

Sai shook her head and silently packed the mats and other supplies carefully, making sure that nothing has the potential of being damaged. "Its....its fine..nothing to be done now..."

"Well... Looks like you got a new home now, right?" he says with a smile up to her as he hands her the last of the supplies: lots of food and water.

Sai smiles a little, relieved he didn't press for more and happy she confided in someone. She quickly packed the rest of the rations and then turned, smiling at Laz as her tail swiped the floor covering a large amount of space.

Lazarus climbs up and smiles back, blushing slightly, then checks her work. "You packed this stuff really well," he comments. "I'm impressed."

Sai blushed and smiled happily at the praise the harpy had given, and let out a tiny purr before covering her face in embarrassment. Her ears back and her tail swishing against the floor as she sits, the shy neko looked at Laz hoping he didn't hear but sure he probably did.

Lazarus did in fact notice it, but he can tell the neko feels embarrassed about it, so he keeps it to himelf for now. That doesn't mean it's not fair game for teasing later, though. "Really, that's about all we need to do to get ready, besides readying our weapons." Laz picks up a long case from the floor against the wall and sets it next to the bags, smiling. "This one's my baby. And yes, I use a gun."

Sai tilted her head curiously, ears still back and twitched her tail. "I see..." She murmured in her soft voice, her eyes looking from the case to Las's eyes and back again.

"Does that make you uneasy?" Lazarus asks, rather used to it. "I'll understand if it does... What with your past and all..."

Sai flinches at his question and looks down, her ears looking like that of a sad puppy, though her tail swishes lightly side to side on the floor as a tiny part inside her wishes to be pet. Though her thoughts at the moment turn to sad memories and the fact she wishes she could get over her past, live in the present, and move forward.

"I-I see... I'm sorry to bring up old wounds..." Lazarus's wings even droop a bit, since he feels sad and guilty for upsetting the neko. He debates on whether or not he should hug her to himself, but still feels like it'd be awkward since they just met.

Sai stays in the position of slight depression as memories flash in her mind, making her close to breaking past her thin wall. "I-it's not your fault Lazarus........" Her soft voice cracking as she feels the pain from when she and her sister were chased away from the pains they grew up in.

Lazarus sighs, not seeing another alternative anymore. This girl could definitely use some support. He'll just have to make it as non-awkward as possible. So, he steps up to Sai and hugs her gently. "There's no need to be sad... You're one of us now, and we protect our own..."
