Anna smiled, "Looking so beautiful after every storm, that's probably the reason why I never wanted to notice it." She looked down and sighed looking at how the light from the moon reflected on the street. "I'm glad those days are over."

Hotaru turned his attention back to Anna. "Ugh...this is totally out of character for me.....telling so much about myself, talking like that.....but then....I don't really mind it around her, or that mystery woman...." He smiled softly. "Nothing ever lasts forever, nothing bad anyways. As long as you keep moving forward, good things always show up."

"Yea, hopefully," she whispered to herself, looking grim. She suddenly smiled and said, "Speaking of moving forward, Merlin is probably pacing the floor and twiddling his thumbs in a fit of mass hysteria right now and I'm sure Leon is worried about you. We should start heading back."

He smirked at that. "Leon worried about me? Maybe two or three years ago....He knows I go out of the city back to the......he knows I go out almost every night to watch the moon." He looked back up, pain in his eyes. "But we can't have Merlin worrying about a cute little thing like yourself. They probably think I'm doing all sorts of weird things to you by now....." He sighed. "Being one of the few people who knows Leon has a perverted side sucks....."

He looked stunned. "For what?" He got a confused look on his face as he tried to recall something worth thanking him for. "I haven't done anything......have I?" He looked at her, confusion still in his eyes.

He smiled. "Anytime Anna. No one deserves to feel anything but good." He shrugged. "And anyone who tries to tell you differently....well....let's just say they'll make Yuffie's cooking look like it was never even burned...." He smirked. "Now, come on, lets get you back to Merlin before he tries to freeze me or something...." He smiled softly at her, and reached for her arm.

He smirked. "Think he's still got that much bounce in him after all the years?" He wrapped his arm around hers. "I'm pretty sure I'll be able to thaw myself out.....but somethings just shouldn't be tested yet...." He started walking back the way they had come, headed for Leon's place.

"He may not look like it anymore, but Merlin is still quite powerful, someone even you defiantly wouldn't want to mess with," she said. "Sometimes I doubt he even needs an assistant."

He smirked. "Maybe he just likes having cute girls around him?" He looked around. "Something just doesn't feel right....no....not now...." He sighed. "When I say so, don't look back, don't stop. Just keep running, all the way back to Leon and Merlin. Don't worry about me, just go. I'll manage on my own. Always do. And Anna, no matter what happens, I really did have a wonderful night with you." He kept his eyes on his surroundings. "And I was having such a great night....."

Anna faced turned very serious, but she didn't look worried, or grave, just serious. "I will," she whispered. "If you're sure."

He smiled at her, and pulled her into a hug. "I'm never sure about anything. That's what makes life so much fun. The only thing I'm sure about though, is protecting you." He spoke the last bit in her ear. He closed his eyes. "Who'd have thought Leon....I might just end up dying to save someone else.....think you'd be proud of me....?"

She nodded, trying to think of something to say, but not finding anything, instead thinking, 'If only you knew'. She closed her eyes and settled her face into Hotaru. "I'll do whatever you say," she reassured him.
